I thought about writing a book for a very long time but cant never seem to get past the first few pages. I know writing can be a long process I have several ideas and so I am just trying to figure out how to get at least one of them out there. Trying to focus on just one idea is hard though because when I try to write my mind wonders and I start to think about the other ideas I want to do. So how do you focus on just one idea, just one topic, just project at a time?

I have the same problem.. I also have ADHD and ADD so it is even harder for me to concentrate on writing a book. I love to write and often catch myself with writers block, even though I have so many ideas and such I would love to write about. I hope to see and maybe even apply some of the comments you receive on your discussion. I think it would be fun, if only I could learn how to sit still!

Hi there, this is a great question that you have presented and I hope I will be able to give you a few pointers. For a long time I had the idea in my mind that I wanted to write a book also. So clearly I can relate to where you're coming from when you say that there are many ideas that flood your mind. Probably the best thing for you to do is to sit down one day with a clear peace of paper and just begin to jot down all the topics that come to your mind. Some of them might not make sense but don't try to judge it or analyze it, just write it down. Then put that paper aside. The next day when you wake up with a fresh mind and a clean peace of paper. Just begin to journal and write down whatever happens to come up. Do this for about thirty minutes to an hour each day. From time to time, go back and look at the first piece of paper and see how those topics tie in with what you have been writing. You will be surprised to see that there are certain correlations. Soon you will find that you have the start of something worth pursuing. I can't promise you that your first book will be a best seller because as with anything, practice makes perfect. But if you will put it in your mind to start small and from there build on it you may become the next Danielle Steele. My advice would be to start with an ebook or a children's book if you are just starting out. There is a lot of information out there on how to go about proceeding and carrying it into completion. Good luck and I hope to be reading some of your work some day.......... Cheers to a fellow writer!
