In less than two months I am going to travel around in Europe for one month, and I have started planning my trip. There are plenty of things that I need to do like finding petsitters, exchanging money, buying insurance, asking the doctor about the immunisations that I need etc. I like the preparations and I really look forward to this trip. I am going to visit Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Germany and I will be travelling around by train. I look forward to visiting a lot of beautiful and interesting places. Are you going on vacation this year? Where are you going? What do you especially look forward to when you think about your next trip? If you have already travelled this year, what was the best part of your trip?

You're quite welcome to visit Bulgaria. I'll recommend you to go to the world famous Belogradchishki Rocks which are really beautiful, and the Magura is also a nice destination near to that place. I was in Germany this year so far, but I plan to go to the sea if I collect more money.

Thank you, I will write those names down I have never been to Bulgaria, and I look forward to going there in September. I have a friend who has been to Bulgaria several times, and she liked it a lot. My husband and I are going to travel together and he hasn't been to Bulgaria either, so it will be a new experience for both of us.

I am looking forward to a vacation. Have not decided where and when. I had signed up time sharing vacation and this year I have another seven nights of vacation stay. So far I had only used for Orlando, USA and Malaga, Spain. I enjoyed both of my trips there very much. Spending quality time together with family is a great way to rekindle family ties. I have been to Eastern Europe in 2007. The places that I visited during the ten days there are Budapest (Hungary), Praque (Chech Republic), Munich, and Vienna (Austria). The scenery is beautiful and captivating. I believe you will enjoy your trip very much.

It is good to hear that you enjoyed your trips I went to Budapest and Praque about 10 years ago, but I haven't had the chance to visit Munich or Vienna. Originally I wanted to visit Austria in addition to the other countries, but I have decided to wait. I am going to visit Switzerland and Austria another time instead, that way I will be able to spend more time there.

I like traveling so much and i have a dream to travel across Europe. I have earlier applied 3 times a visa for Europe but got rejected and this hurts me soo much. Now i am waiting for chance when fate takes me there. I have traveled soo much in my own country but now a days peace conditions are worst here and we are living in a state of constant fear. I am still trying get abroad and settle in Europe.

I am sorry to hear about your visa problems, and I hope that things will work out for you. I don't need a visa for Europe, my country is member of the European union, and we are able to travel in other European problems without any problems, but when I to want to leave Europe I usually need a visa, and that can be expensive and complicated.

I also love travelling. I haven't been to any of the countries that you mention, and they are all pretty far away from my home, but I would love to travel around in other parts of the world one day I have a friend from Indonesia, she has told me a lot about her country, I think that it would be interesting to visit Indonesia one day.

It sounds like a nice idea to visit your hometown, your relatives and your friends. Is your hometown far away from the place where you live now? When I was a student I lived pretty far away from my family. I wasn't able to see them that often, so I really enjoyed when I was finally able to visit them, and I understand why you miss your family. Have a nice trip!

That sounds like an awesome trip! :) I dream of traveling Europe someday, but for now I just travel my home country the Philippines. By the end of this year I would have 3 vacations. The first one was last April, I went to a province called Negros Occidental. A friend of mine was able to get us into a private beach house. It was fantastic! It was so great I am going back there next week :) and I will bring my sister along. I also went to a popular beach place here called Puerto Galera. There were too many people though, but I was with friends so the experience was still fun. On October my family (mom, dad, sisters, their family, and a couple of friends) will be going to Bohol, a popular tourist destination here in the Philippines. I am excited. This is the first time I was able to travel to places and I am loving it.

I hope I will get the chance to visit your country one day Have a great time next week and in October when you are going to travel with your family.

I want to go shopping up north of me a 3 hour boat ride away on a ferry. Other than that next year I want to go to Turkey or stay in USA and go to California to visit my friends I haven't seen in years.

I am presently on a 3 months vacation here in Australia. This is a wonderful country with well organized system and many interesting places to visit. Before I go back on 30/8 I will pop in to New zealand for a short visit. I enjoy traveling and see places of interest and hope to continue visiting more places in Europe next year.

That sounds great. Which places have you visited in Australia? I have friends from Australia, and they have invited me to visit them, I would like to, but Australia is very far away from my home, and it will be expensive to go there. My husband would love to visit New Zealand, he often talks about that, and if we get enough money we will definately visit Australia and New Zealand one day.

I haven't been on vacation for the last 3 years or so. Four years ago I suffered a heart attack and just took things easy. Before that I found that all the stress and queuing at airports and struggling to get there on time to catch our flight, was quite stressful and I wondered why I bothered doing it all. I have lost count of all the countries, resorts and cities I have seen all over the world. Now I prefer to take day trips out or at most, a weekend away, but it's not something that interests me a lot. I can relax and be at ease no matter where I am and there's no better place than in my home or in my garden, or in my office meditating or working on my computer. My mind gives me a far better holiday than I could get in the physical world! _Derek

Villarrica Lake from my terrace - Villarrica Lake is one of the many lakes in the south of Chile. It´s a part of the country where lakes and volcanoes are together. There are many hot springs too.
I went in April to the south of Chile, my native country. Usually I travel farther but I did not have money as I has extra expenses due to a shoulder surgery. I was there for 10 days and I thought that was it for this year. But some friends discovered a wonderful oportunity that the government gives for retired people. So from August 10 to August 17 I´ll go to Arica on this tour. It´s a whole week with airfare, all airport fees, lodging in good hotels and board plus a city tour for about $400. So I´m in for it. They even have insurance and health covered with that price. There´s an extra tour that you have to pay when you are there that I will take if I can. It is towards the Andes mountains, the andann villages and reaching Chungará Lake. They take us with guides, oxigen just in case and a paramedic. I will have to pay extra $35. I think it´s worh it: it will be a once in a lifetime experience. As for my last trip, I was awed by the Villarica volcano and the Villarica lake even though it was not the first time I had seen them. I´m enclosing a picture of the lake as seem drom my terrace.

The picture is beautiful, it looks like an amazing place. It is very different from my country. The tour to Arica sounds interesting, and I hope that you will have a great time. I like to visit other countries, but sometimes I also enjoy exploring my own country. That is less expensive than going abroad, and there are many small islands in my country. I like visting some of them.

I came back from 1 1/2 weeks in Finland a week ago. The best part was definitly visiting friends, hanging out eating ice-cream in the evenings, discussing photography and taking lots of pictures together. We went on a road-trip to Savonlinna, saw the castle, my friends had the worse pizza they ever tasted but afterwards we got some very nice cake. It was a bit too warm though, more than 30 degrees all the time, sunny and bright. I don't really function properly when it's more than 25 degrees, so I spent some time in front of the fan :-) Luckliy we figured how to open the windows so we didn't have to sweat all night.

I don't know how cold it was when I was in Finland, but it probably felt colder than it is really was, because we were walking around in wet clothes... My husband and I have talked about travelling around in Norway, Sweden and Finland for some months, that could be interesting I think. I have only seen a small part of Norway and Finland and I have never been to the nothern part of Sweden. Have you been to many places in Norway? I have seen most parts of Denmark, but there are many small islands where I haven't been.

Your trip to Finland sounds like a lot of fun. I have seen some pictures from Savonlinna, but I have never been there. 30 degrees that is quite a lot. I had the opposite porblem when I went to Finland. It was during the winter and it was extremely cold and rainy. I was soaking wet when I got back to the ferry (Helsinki/Stockholm), but side from that it was a nice experience, and I would like to visit other parts of Finland one day.

Park in Savonlinna - Flowers in a park in Savonlinna
If you got wet, it wasn't really cold :-) I've been there a couple of times in January/February, most of the times it has been between +2 and -5 and quite normal for winter. One time I got -25, that was too cold. We get that here every now and then (3-4 this year, but that was much colder than usual) but it's a bit too cold to travel. You don't really want to go out and do anything, so we ended up staying inside and eating lots of lasagne. I like Finland, it's nice and civilized, and quite different from Norway really so I get to see something new. I'm especially fascinated by all the lakes with reflections from the woods around, apparantly most Norwegians are ;-) Here, it's often windy, and the sea or the ocean is never really still. The fjords can be but normally not so still as a Finish lake.

I have to wait. I'm hoping my family can get away after Christmas but really we only recently went away, as we had our family holiday in September. These days they go by very fast and my children really didn't get to do as much as we hoped we would. Usually we come back feeling like we had a great time but this we all left wanting to go back again, which it wasn't all that bad but time went by far too quickly.

Your vacation sounds wonderful even with all the planning involved. I am jealous! I am going on weekend events and not a vacation. I usually don't go anywhere anyway, but I went to a sorority convention in May and am planning to go to a reunion with a yahoo group I belong to in Sept......to Toronto. Both of these events are annual so I take these mini trips instead of a big vacation. Not sure if I will be going anyhwhere else or not.

Wow...I love your idea and I am really excited for you. The countries and places you are visiting are full of interesting spots. I have not been to Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland. Going on holiday for one month is excellent! I have not been on a long holiday this year. Perhaps I will go to Hainan Island in China. I am a Malaysian born Hainanese. I was thinking it is good to go back to my family 'roots' to see the culture and the places where my grandparents live during their childhood. Learn the historical aspects and its humble beginnings. Have a wonderful holiday and do share your holiday experiences once you are back :)

Thank you I have never gone on a holiday for one month, I used to go away for a one or two weeks or less, so that will be a new experience for me. I am really excited about spending a month on travelling, because that will give me the chance to visit a lot of different places. It sounds like a great idea to visit the place where your grandparents spent their childhood. That way you can learn more about the culture and your own history. Some years ago I visited the island where my paternal grandparents were born and we even found a village with our family name. I would like to visit that island again.

As far as I am concerned, I have not decided to go on a vacation this year, just for at the moment I think I am short of money now. I just need to take my full effort to have a job and try my best to make money online ,even just find a job in the reality life. In that way, I think I may have a chance to go on a vacation this year. Have a nice day!

I have only had the chance to see a small part of Switzerland, but it is my impression that it is an interesting and beautiful country. I orginally planned on visiting Switzerland and Austria as well, but it will probably be too much to visit 7 different countries in one month, so I have decided to visit Switzerland another time instead. I wish you a nice trip
