Saddle Lamp

It's a beautiful lamp we were given. It wasn't very expensive, and well it goes with our favorite theme, which is western decor. It gives out a lot of light too, oh and it's a table lamp. If I had a camera I'd upload a picture. Hubby and I have been wanting one for awhile, not necessarily a saddle lamp, but anything whether it be horses, a horseshoe, a star, cowboy boots, a cowboy... Maybe we can find one that's just a horse shoe type thing about the same height, it would still fit, and shades aren't all that hard to find. So when you're looking for lamps do you go for the plain, or are you the type to look for something that makes a statement?

Floor lamp - Littlewoods lamp
If we can, something plain, but makes a statement. We have a lamp very similar to the one in this picture. Except that it is silver with a dark brown shade. We have no overhead lighting, having replaced those with fans- handy in this weather.

So you're saying instead of something with funky designs or colors, you want something with a plain solid color, but maybe a little bit of a different design, something modernisitc? that lamp in the picture sure looks modernistic. Do you have box fans, or the ceiling fans?

Fan - Ceiling fan
You have it. We have ceiling fans downstairs, and ceiling fan lights upstairs. In the lounge there are also two pencil lights which illuminate prints and provide a little mood lighting. The lounge has a laminate floor, patio doors one end and a 12 x 8 window the other. Glass table and glass occasionals by the sofa. The whole thing creates an open feel- specially if the doors are open onto the deck.

Your lounge room sounds very relaxing, I love the glass table! My mom used to have one we were younger but it broke, I'd love to get one, but would be too afraid to get one until after hubby and I have children and they are older. I love mood lighting too.

I'd rather make a little bit of a statement. I hate to be boring and have the same thing that everybody else has.

Naw, that would remind me too much of what my body once looked like...

It really depends on several things. What room it will probably be in? What I want to spend? What place will be in and what function? If I find one that shouts out at me I usually get it and utilize it. sometimes even regardless of whether it totally fits what I wanted it for or not. So I guess I would have to say it does make a statement to me.

That sounds like good questions to ask yourself before buying, of course I also like to find ones that might not quite fit but are at a good price and that I could work with. Whenever my husband and I do get our own place the theme will be western, we've already got so much stuff as is but will scrounge for me. There's a lot of good finds at places like the salvation army store.
