the most influential band ever?

In some ways the Beatles are most influential...melodically, musically, and in a business sense as well. Who hasn't tried to recreate their success? We've seen the fervor similar to "Beatlemania" many times...New Kids on the Block, N Sync, Britney (to a lesser extent), Spice Girls (also to a lesser extent); but none of these have had the lasting success that the Beatles enjoy. Other influencers to consider: Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Stones, The Who (perhaps the most under rated on my list), Elton John, and to a lesser extent I might add Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and The Beach Boys. All influence in their own way...all have lasted many years...and all are trendsetters either as performers, characters, or songwriters.

I'll have to agree that the Beatles are the most influential band. Other bands that are just as great (talent-wise) haven't really gotten the kind of popularity that the Beatles have. What gave Beatles their staying power, aside from their hits, is the fact that they didn't underestimate the power of their following. They also toured around the world, probably more prolifically than any other band right now. The Beatles are one of the things I thank God for.

Hello Damned_dle. I'm not quite old enough to remember The Beatlemania days but I can't argue when you say they were influential. I wouldn't say they were the only influential band of their time though, we also had The Stones who appealed to a different listener and their music and image has been copied by a lot of bands, especially Primal Scream.

hello, i think that each genre has its own most influential artist the beatles, queen, the doors all great bands each bringing new sounds ideas and sights to the music industry.
