It doesnt mean you are sick. It means you are proactive or cautious. I dont have to go to doctor frequently as my mom is a doctor. She loves me a lot and takes care of me. She keeps my health in good touch and not only that she also gives me a balanced diet. One good thing about me i like all vegetarian food. Sometimes we need some specialist when we have other problems. One time I had a skin problem where my mom couldnt do much. She immediately contacted a skin specialist and within a week I was alright. I dont have words to praise her. She is the best. Share ur thoughts on the doctor experience.

I have a lot of chronic health issues so I go to my doctors regularly. Most of them I see every 4-6 months for checkups and tests but my hematologist I have to go to every month because my hemoglobin levels were too low and I had to get special treatments. Now I have my blood checked every month.

hi xorticanz I also had a doctor for a parent so was well taken care of as a child and teenager. I am now elderly and must go to my doctor whom I have had for ages every three months as I am a diabetic and we must see our doctors for diabetic checkups to keep us doing right for ourselves. My doctor is the best as he has known me for years. You are really lucky to have a doctor as your own mom, She must take really great care of you and you sound like you really love and appreciate her for being both mom and your doctor. good for you.

Nurse administering Injection to a Patient - This is a typical hospital vision we have, of being given an injection.
I believe I am immune to most common ailments; I also strongly believe that I will be visiting the hospital only if I suffer from something fatal. Most people believe that a doctor will be able to cure anything. Rot! Having served as a Medical Representative, I can tell you what goes on in a doctor's mind, at any instant in the consulting room. And believe me, most treatments are mere palliatives!

of course, unless the condition is serious, in which case, I admire the commitment to a patient that I have seen in some of my doctor friends.

Hi, xorticanz You are lucky to have a mother like that. As for me, I try to have my annual check up even if I do not feel anything wrong with me. These days, however, I go to the doctor once a month for my pre-natal check up. I am now seven months pregnant and I make sure that me and baby are doing okay and ready for the ninth month. Have a nice day!

You are lucky that your mom is a doctor. It is always an advantage to have a family member who works as a doctor. I don't go to see the doctor frequently. Actually I don't want to go to the hospital unless it is necessary. If I have little healthy problem, I will try to hold on it for few days or go to get some medicine to heal myself. If I still feel sick, then I will go to see the doctor at last. I love China

I've never believed in Doctoring,( My last Medical Check-up was in 1978.) To me a Dr. is a well trained specialist who is good at his job of finding health problems in his patients. I have enjoyed good health for 76 years, and I don't do the yearly checkups, because the Dr. will not fail to find a problem, and never again, will I be able to enjoy Good Health!

Nope, I avoid seeing a doctor unless I am really, really sick. I know most doctors will immediately give you prescriptions of some antibiotic even if you only have mild fever. I don't like to take antibiotics for just a simple pain that can be treated without using medicine. That's my reason why I don't want to see a doctor often.

I know that there are a lot of people that don't like visiting their gp but this is just silly! We are living in modern times and we are becoming more aware of these so called diseases as well as being told to look out for lumps and bumps! I haven't been to my doctor in a while but I think that if I was to notice something on my body no matter how small, I would be don't there like a shot! I think that it's best to err on the side of caution rather than be sorry later on for not having checked something out. You are very lucky in that your mother is a doctor and it must be very easy to approach her whenever you have any medical issues on your mind. Still, I'm trying to keep myself in good shape by exercising regulary and my body seems to be working just fine at present with no major ailments! I remain positive and hope to live a long and happy life! Andrew

I don't go to the doctor frequently. Unlike you, my parents are away so there's no one to take care of me, and I don't like going to the doctor alone. I don't really have that much problems with my health but I'm afraid that if I don't have regular check-ups, some problem in the future may appear. I just hope nothing will happen. Haha. Anyways, I have only been in the doctor when I was very sick with a viral disease. I have to pay for my own medicines and they are quite expensive @_@

For me, even when I'm sick I don't visit a doctor. I will try some healthy diets and vitamins to get my body back to function. Of course this is provided the condition I'm in allows me to do so. It's good that you have someone in your family who is a doctor. In that case, it is the most wonderful gift you'll ever have. A health consultant right there to care about you. I would envy that (:

I do go to the doctor on a regulare basis. Although recently i have been having serious problems with my colon. They first thought it might be cancer. I went and got check but no polops. then they thought it could be a bascterial thing. However although the medication helped it did not clear up the issue. Finally the though it could be enviromental. I went through the house i was renting at the time and behind walls in the basement i found a rediculous amount of black mold. I cleaned the mess and moved out. I am still feeling ify but alot beter. After this insodent i decied to make going to the doctor a regulare event in my life. I recommend regular check ups to every one who has the ability to do so. It really is a goode idea. It is better to find a issue while it is still in early stages rather than finding out later and having your life fall apart.

No, Xorticanz, I almost never ever go to the doctors. I don't have insurance and so it would cost me a small fortune just to walk in the office, let alone get any sort of treatment. I just try to stay healthy on my own and so far it seems to be working. You are very lucky to have a doctor in the family. I'm sure it helps out a lot!

That's really so lucky of you. A professional is there to look after you all the time. As for me, I don't really go to the doctor that often. I also consider myself not easy to catch any sickness. I know I shouldn't be too carefree knowing that illnesses can exist even without obvious symptoms. it's just that it's too expensive to go to the doctor every now and then to have yourself checked up.

I don't really go to the Doctor frequently because I'm still young and healthy. I have a really good health because I eat the right and nutritious food and I always exercise. But whenever I get sick, that's due to sudden weather change and I'm just gonna call my aunt because she's a Doctor and I'm gonna tell her what I feel, my temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and my blood pressure then she will just tell me what medicine I should buy and the schedule that I will take it and how many days I'm gonna take it. It's really cool right? I don't need to go to a Doctor because my Doctor is just one call away!

Hello xorticanz! I went to the doctor every 6 months to check my overall health. If I have any disease, I soon discovered it and I will be healthier. Of course, I also have a diet and healthy exercise. Prevention is better than cure. You are a lucky person as you always have a doctor with you. Please respect that. Nice to meet you!

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury to send myself to the doctor that often, or for that matter, ever. I just don't have the time and money for check-ups, especially the rate that doctors ask in our country, it's ridiculously expensive. Pro-bono's are a rare thing here especially in the medical field, it's as if your having a miracle if you get checked up by a doctor for free.
