I just got 2 lovebirds and they are so much fun!

His name is Paulie - The females name is Molly but she's hard to get a picture of.

My cat Bigguy passed away sometime during the night on Monday. It really upset me because even though he was still ferral after having him for 4 years there was a bond between us and I miss him terribly. I seriously think he died of old age because he has been fine. He was about 9 ears old. I am the type of person who always has to have one kind of pet or another so I went to craigslist and got two of the most adorable lovebirds. They are keeping me busy...which I desperately need. I love taking care of them and interacting with them. I bought them a new cage, toys and all the food and goodies they need. They seem very happy in their new home with me. In the near future I intend to get one of those big gyms made especially for birds like them. Does anyone have any advice as to what lovebirds like to do or eat. I'm doing a lot of reading about them online but it all seems so redundant.

I am glad you were able to get new pets. I know you will miss Bigguy. If he had not been feral he might have lived longer, but if he was in good health for the most part, I guess that is all that matters. I know nothing about raising lovebirds.

What kind do you have? We have 3 blue masked love birds. As far as diet they should give them pellets and use seed as a treat. Change their water a few times a day. Give them fresh fruit and vegetables (some will kill birds, so do your research) Since you just got the birds you should bring them to the vet. You may want to get them shots, your Avian vet can help you make that decision.

hi ctrymuziklvr the only thing I know about lovebirds is they can really bite you if they take a notion to. lol and they love to toss out parts of the used up birdseed. My mom had two but they did not seem to love me and I guess lol the feeling was mutual too. After all a big gash on ones finger does not endear a bird to me. lol.
