In my town there are so many people who doesn't like dog. There are many reason like they ever chase by a dog when child but I think thats must not happen in many time because its impossible to see dog who walk freely in the street, most dog out from they house on the leash with the master. Its quite sad when I walk my dog there are so many people who run away because they see him ( please he is on leash ) or suddenly jump away when near him. I mean my dog not vicious kind dog and will not bite for no reason. I feel bad when people react like that. Do you similar experience with me, or do you had bad experience with dog?. Feel free to share. Thanks.....

I hate those people thinks that Maya will bite them, Maya doesn't look like she's ready to attack, she haven't look at this people.

If that's your dog in the picture, I don't see how people can hate him. Don't feel bad. I have 3 dogs, one is a medium to large size dog, while the other two are on the small size. I have seen people get freaked out over my oldest (a beagle) which in my mind is how can a Beagle be such a deadly creature. With the larger dog, I can understand. She's not mean, but acts like a 2 year old that just got done drinking 4 energy drinks. So she tends to freak people out with her being overly excited when she sees someone. I can't take her on walks for this reason or that she can't behave. Now with the baby of the family, she's a Basset Hound. She gets a lot of attention when we go outside, because she barks at anything that walks by. Some people are turned off and some are like can we pet her. I won't cross over to the other side of the street when I see a person walking their dog. I do make sure my daughter asks permission before coming up to their dog to pet it.

Your dog is a cutie pie, I still can't see why people can be turned off by him. I'm also a dog lover so that could be why. I like dogs more than I do cats. I think it's because I live in an area with a lot of them running wild. Also remember people that don't want to go near your dog, could also just don't like dogs and instead like cats. It's funny, but you can tell the difference.

I am a cat lover and I have cats but I also have a dog that I love very much. One of my friends is a cat person like me but the difference between us is that she hates all dogs which I find really sad. She told me she was attacked by a dog when she was a child and she required several stiches to her leg; what she found more painful was the fear of being chased by the dog more than the attack itself. I can understand her fear because big angry canines frighten me too but it doesn’t stop me from loving them also.

Hi nangisha, I don't know if it's weird with me, but i am not scared of dogs at all. That even adds angry looking stray dogs lol. One time i was being chased by a group of annoying and barking dogs. I wish i could get down and kick them! But i figured out it would be best not to bother them and get into real trouble, they only chased me for a while and gave up. Had i done something more, they could have attacked me. But i wasn't really scared, i mean i didn't panic at all. Just rode my cycle at a little more than an average speed. I have heard that if you stop and just face them, they won't chase you. But, i am not sure about that. No matter what, i really don't want to be bitten by those creatures!

Hi Voldrox!, Its seem there is so many stray dog in you town. We usually never let our dog out from home alone because they will missing or stolen. You will never see dog walk alone in the street because they will taken by authority or someone for certain reason. I think we all don't wanna have experience to be bite by a dog, its not fun at all. When I was child I have been bite by my own dog, just few scratch but it makes me more careful with them and more cautious about what I should do and what should not, at least don't step on his tail .

Hi again, yes, you are absolutely right! You should not step on it's tail, i am sorry you had to learn that the hard way. Well yeah many stray dogs out here and sometimes the municipality does take out some of them but here if your dog is missing, anybody would recognize that it has an owner coz the stray dogs are mostly thin and mal nutritioned, poor creatures. So there isn't a really a risk that your dog could be caught but anways, we need to take care of such things are all times. Good day.

These people have probably had a bad experience. I had an Uncle who was afraid of our dog even though he was the softest dog in the world! He was bitten when he was a boy.

Thumb86: I think no one of those think will happen if dog owner raised their dog with responsibility and love. I mean if you are not sure how your dog will react outside the house its better to let them on leash every time they walk him, not let him free in the street. Krkavsy: I think its your right to like or dislike, because I believe we all have our own history who made who we are today. I don't understand why your relative let her Doberman biting any one, I think he never give proper training to his dog and let the dog die just to solve problem. I believe if you can not handle big breed its better nit to raise one. Or it will be a big problem.

I am feeling you my friend. I do not just like them, I love them . dogs, kitties whatever I love animals! (not sexually). I am myself feeling a bit of down when I see or meet people who are scared and terrified from dogs, there are just people who had real hard traumas about a vicious dog attacking them and so, them trust on dogs was gone for good. I myself had a sort of trauma, a dog bitten me on my hand, but that didn't effect my passions for flufy big eye rolled pets... After all it was my fault, it is not like it jumped on me and started biting me, it was I who touched him even though it growled at me. Luckily I was injured or anything so everyone is happy .

If it's a big dog who looks menacing, even if it is the sweetest dog ever and just barks to acknowledge the person, or jumps up to hug them(my dog does this) it scares them. I think the media's representation of dogs as viscous and dangerous in spy movies and such could freak people out, or some people have just heard or experienced stories about how dogs attacked them or the people around them.

Hi, nangisha. I get the chills when I see a dog on the street, especially if it is by itself. My kids are scared too. If the dog is on a leash, I still would make sure that I stay a few feet away from it. Many people are scared of dogs because of what they can do. My cousin got bitten by her own dog in the face one time. This would make a person less inclined to be around a dog. There are so many horror stories when it comes to hearing about a dog. They don't mean any harm to be rude to you, but that is how some people perceive a dog to be.

It is quite comprehensible that some fear dogs for multiple reasons, like having been bitten by a dog in the past. But I can't see any reason why someone should hate a dog. We say that dog is man best friend.

Usually here in my neighborhood they don't keep their dogs on the leash. So you have to be careful because some do bite. The worst part is that their is two big pitbulls and they're never on their leash. We were outside and my one year old sister was confronted by one. She likes dogs so she was reaching out to the two dogs. Then we quickly got her away from them and she was crying. Later we found out that one of the dogs had scratched her. After we told their owners he just told us that they don't bite but they do scratch. He also didn't let them loose anymore. Well that's what we thought. Later we found out that the owner let's his pitbulls loose early in the morning around 4 or 5 am. We found this out because my dad comes from work around that time. We heard barking outside and when I looked outside I saw that the two pitbulls and a smaller one were near my dad's car and waiting for him to get out. He couldn't open the garage because we don't have a remote for it so he usually always leaves the car in our drive way. Finally we got up and opened the garage for him and he drove in. I usually avoid dogs that are off their leash and sometimes I avoid a dog if it's on the leash but looks like the owner doesn't have much control of it. I feel much safer when the dog looks friendly and calm because then I know that it won't bite or anything. People tend to react when they see a big dog because they always associate it with viciousness( I really don't know if that's a word). As for me I think even small dogs can be vicious. I just avoid dogs that look like they want to bite someone.

There may be reason why people fear dogs...there have been instances when being chased by dogs...the dog may not like the scent that one wears and that might make them insane and start barking...No stranger is really certain that a particular dog may not bite him...dogs can bite any time if they are irritated(and except for the owner others wont come to know)..even petting them can make them irritated... Generally during childhood if the scars are left...then even when we grow up we fear.. I like pet dogs in general but would not have it...you never know what would they turn out to be..i'm scared as i've heard stories of someones dog going insane and biting anyone who comes in his way...so I rather be careful.

Because my dog is cute and cuddly, I don't get the same reactions when I walk him out. I have a cousin and a niece though who would stop on their tracks when the dog comes around because they are just plain terrified by dogs. And that's okay, I used to be so scared of dogs myself. I just don't like the idea of being bitten, plus the many anti-rabies injections I would need in case I do get bitten.

Hi Poingly!. A dog with foaming mouth its really having a certain disease, I hope its not rabies . We have to give regular vaccination every year to every dog, so no disease can be harm to human. I know there are so many responsible owner but you can always see from the dog condition, if the dog have clean fur and short nails its means they in good hand. thanks for your response....have a nice day.

I am actually quite fond of dogs and have had many wonderful experiences with them while growing up, but if I see a dog running loose I do not try to approach it. I also do not get friendly with dogs I see on leashes since I do not think it is a good idea to pet a dog until you get to know it. Unfortunately I have heard of several cases of people who have been attacked quite unexpectedly by large dogs, in some cases it was even the owner himself who was attacked. This makes me very cautious around dogs, especially large ones. You must respect the wishes of the people who are afraid of dogs. Dogs can sense when people do not like them or are afraid of them, and this can cause a negative reaction. Just enjoy your dog and don't worry about other people, as long as you are taking the necessary precautions to ensure everyone's safety.

Hi SMNO603!. Honestly I little fear of pitbul after seeing them hunting for wild boar. I feel pity for that wild boar. I never seen a pitbul that used as pet and have love able relationship with their master. I think if I had one, I think I can not handle them. In raising dog we have count our self capability. I think a woman will little hard to handle a pitbul. Thanks for your response, I really appreciated it.

People who hate dogs had gone through a traumatic experience. Like, being chased by a dog or being bitten. We just have to understand them, cause maybe there are underlying reasons why they acted that way. I love dogs. We have 4 dogs in our hometown, and 1 here in the city. Although it's annoying to see people reacted negatively towards these wonderful beings,i just tried to understand them.
