Any Nielsen Home Scan Users out there?

I'm curious about this program. Does it take a long time to join? If you change your mind and stop do you have to mail the scanner back? (on your dime?) How fast do your points add up and or how long til you were able to redeem? And I guess you could say my biggest question of all is if you buy generic items will it read the upc code or are they only really looking for people who buy brand names?
Sorry about lots of questions just want to know what I'd be getting into if I wanted to try this program out. TY wonderful myLotters!

3snugglebunnies I will not ever again put someone else's software on my computer not even Nielsen Home thingy. I did this just once for some
well touted survey site and the moment the software hit my computer everything went haywire. I t contained a really wicked virus that put my nortons anti virus p;rogram out to dry. my son spent all day hooked up my computer to his to get rid of the virus that had almost wrecked my computer. Some files we had to destroy so never again will I put some survey's software into my computer. once was enough for me.

You do not attach their software to your computer. It is contained in their scanner. You do have to have a corded landline to upload your data on a weekly basis though. A cordless does not work. This was a big drawback to me.

I've had the opportunity to do this in the past which I haven't followed up on because I really don't understand the way that this program works. In addition to that, I am not comfortable with installing software and hardware to my computer that doesn't belong to me because of the fact that I have too many things that are stored on my computer and my externals that I would really be devastated if I was to lose it.

Personally, it took them forever to decide I could join, and I did not like it.I sent the scanner back, it comes with a return label, but you have to take it to Fed Ex (I used one at Office Max). I had trouble getting codes in for produce. I buy clearanced items and the codes did not always scan. It did cut down on my impulse shopping. There were just too many variables for me, and I did not really see anything I wanted from their gift catalog that I
could not get points for faster somewhere else. It should read generic, and there are options for when things do not read, like you putting the prices in. I am too much of a perfectionist and I felt I made too many mistakes with it.

I was a member for 3 years and in the end, all my points got me a cheap $30 toaster oven. I quit a few months ago, just too much trouble.
First, they wanted me to scan my groceries. Fine, that was quick and easy. Then they started wanting me to scan bar codes to indicate fruits and vegetables, breads and deli. Harder and more time consuming but still doable. THEN they wanted me to scan EVERYTHING I bought! It got so that I'd go to the store and spend 15-20 doing all the scanning and uploading, all for a few lousy points.
Yes, you have to send the scanner back but it doesn't cost anything. When they send you the scanner they include a post-paid label you can use to send it back. Just drop it off at the nearest UPS.
Oh yes, the scanner reads generic codes, they don't care they just want to see what you're buying.
In my mind, it's not worth it. After nearly 3 years all I have to show for it is a cheap, $30 toaster oven and hours spent scanning and uploading.

I use their search bar here and there. Also if you go to your home page on MyPoints and look on the right side there's a section called "Tell us & earn" I look once a week or more for those as well they are like 2 second lil survey's and you get 5 pts for doing them.
I also do called BzzAgent they pay MyPoints for your Bzz reports & surveys they have wich helps alot. Like right now I've got a campaign for got2b a hair product for adding shine and softness (they gave me samples + coupons, as they do for most campaigns). So if I get an invite to the campaign, I get to try a product and Bzz about it to people and with every report I submit I get points, and those points are credited to my MyPoints account.
HTH Dragon! Holler if you want more info on that one. BTW... they don't do down lines or referrals either. You get credited for your participation.
