Have you noticed how difficult it is to get a straight answer from an expert? I am taking a health product and it is not agreeing with me. So I was referred to any expert, we had a 45+ min. conversation which involved me listening to a lecture about the benefits of the product for 40 mins. and the answer to my questions came in the last 5 mins. Now I would understand if I was just buying it for the first time or was asking to get my money back but why since I was a customer already and I knew about the product did this espert insist on reeducation abou the product? I guess she thought she had to proove to me that she was an expert so that I would believe her answers to my pretty simple questions. In the end I was just annoyed and to protect myself from more information agreed to accept her answers. What a hassel and for no reason. Am I missing something here, this is the third person this week that has insisted on giving my much more info than requested, different products each. Has it always been this way or are people so afraid that they will loose their jobs that they are doing oversell? Have you run into this and if so what do you think.

Hi Pat I have not come across this in Person to Person but I am fed up with the Sales People not accepting no on the Phone and going on and on, I now just put the Phone down because I do not want time wasted on something I am not interested in I don't think I would have sat there 45 minutes listening I would have put the Question to her again and then if she still insisted on going on I would have left

Well it was a conference call and I didn't want to be rude. I did admire the amount of time she put into what should have been a fairly short call, maybe she was trying to impress others on the call.

There are the 3C rules of marketing...First try to CONVINCE the customer. If he/she is not convinced then CONFUSE him/her. If not confused the CORRUPT him/ her....I dont mean to say that this should happen everywhere...but from what you said i feel this is what has happened...they have tried to confuse you.

You are right about that, I only know that she was presented to me as an expert. Thanks

Experts seem to dance around a subject. Getting them just to answer a straight forward question for you can be a trial. After a while you wonder why you ever wanted to know something from them. Even then, you aren't sure you got the answer you were looking for. Did they ever get the facts to you?

Im so sorry you were given the run around with some mumbo jumbo you didnt want or need. If Im a customer, I expect to be taken care of accordingly and with respect because Im the one paying their salaries. I used to be on the other side as I worked in a store before and gave straight answers and respected the customers, so maybe thats why I can tell right away when Im being given the "tour" and I do NOT accept it. If I want an answer to something, I stop the person talking if they get away from the subject by cutting them off. I wont listen to any mumbo jumbo. My time is also money and they need to know this. If after cutting them off, they still wont give me an answer to my question, I hang up. I call again and hope to get someone else at the other end of the line. If its still the same, then I ask to speak to a manager and wont take NO for an answer. Here we have a tv show that caters to this. So you only have to tell them that you'll call and report them to "JE" (the name of the show) and right away they find you the answers. They know its very bad publicity when they are on that show haha. Maybe you could start such a show where you live. Fight back!!!

I think some experts are like that, they like to boast that they're so good so they'll lecture you nonstop then when its time for question and answer they'll limit your question so you won't notice if their just blabbing or they're really an expert. But some experts are not like that, they let you ask the question and explain an answer that you can understand. You just have to find the right expert. Or maybe, if you go to one expert, tell them that you already know what they're going to say so proceed to the Q&A then ask everything you need to know, if they refuse then leave. Simple as that, so you won't sit there pretending that you're interested in what he/she is saying. Just do it politely. God bless (",)

I honestly do not think people are really listening to the question you are asking but are preparing all their arsenal of reasoning while you are still speaking. They do not want to lose a customer, and they do not want you to tell others that you had a difficulty with their product. If they talk fast enough they hope to prevent the avalanche effect of you leaving their fold and taking others with you perhaps. I find that I am guilty of not listening and others are as well.

This is precisely why I have stayed away from doctors for over 30 years. Yup I never go for a medical checkup because I have been enjoying good health, and once I get a checkup I know the Dr will find a problem (its his job and he's good at it)and never again will I be able to enjoy good health! I believe in dietary supplements and will try them, beginning with a small amount. If they disagree with me I switch to something else. I've been diet conscious for over 50 years and am still working (every summer day) at age 76. I take 5 months off in the winter and move to my winter home in South Texas.

Sometimes the answer is not as good as you think it would be. So they go around and around the issue, saying the good parts, and then release the bomb. Others, might know the characteristics of the product, but not know exactly what your asking, so they talk about something else, and then give you a short answer for your question. It's like in college, I believe. Normally students tend to go in circles if they don't know the answer, and of course they fail giving the correct answer. But some teachers might think that you know so much that the answer you gave is correct because you knew everything. It's a "supposition". Scientists might do exactly the same with us, some people listen to them or get bored and forget the question they wanted to ask (normally is this case) or they try everything to get a nice answer (your case). I believe that some cases, scientist studying one product is bad, i mean, s/he were involved in the creation of that product, of course they are going to say good things about that. The best opinion comes from other experts.

I never get straight answers to my questions when I ask about products.Enough one question about the product I'm interested in and I get few extra stories about other products in this group or similar products, or even those I don't need at all. This is annoying, I dislike sellers who don't value my time.

Pat- I really believe it is because all of those types of companies have a script book sitting in front of them, and if you pose something outside of the script they must read through the script in order to find the answer. I doubt any of them have their information committed to memory. The other problem I’ve run into personally is that I’ll call a company regarding a product and the call center is located in another country where English is not the primary language. It is extremely frustrating, to the point my husband and I joke that it is like the scene in Transformers where they are trying to call out and the man is telling them about specials their credit card company offers! I agree with what was already stated that sometimes people just do not listen. They already have their script, won’t divert, and have no real interest in doing anything other then the script. It’s sad if you ask me, especially where customer service is concerned. I do hope this product isn’t medically necessary, because that is definitely scary! Namaste-Anora

dear pat, what is he expert on? if you say, the product, then think again. they have percentage earnings on the said product that's why they want you to use it. so if you feel that it is not working for you, i suggest that you discontinue. that's more practical, isn't it? have a nice day. ann

Yes I have experienced that one. It really wasted my time though. All I need are answers to my questions and to tell me that you are an expert. I am direct to the point. I have worked in customer service wherein we cater to American customers. If they ask a question, you answer their questions instantly and you don't need to sugarcoat things.
