Forgot to pay the fare..

Have you ever forgotten to pay the fare on a public transportation like in a Jeep? Forgotten, i should say, because some do it on purpose like what i usually see when kids ride jeepney and they just go down without paying. I always ride public transportation because i don't know how to drive.. yesterday while I was on my way home, i was staring at a young child around 2years old i think, he was carried by his mother and he has cough and colds with mucous going out of his nose. I went into a very deep thought after looking at the mother and child that i didn't notice I was already almost at my place. So I went down and walk a few houses from my house while the rain is heavily pouring down. Suddenly I realized that my pocket is still heavy with coins..I counted it at home and realized I have forgotten to pay my fare. I was really sorry for the driver knowing how hard they he is working with the very high gas price and I on the other hand can afford to pay 7 pesos for my fare have forgotten to give it to him. Sad think there is i never notice the face of the driver nor the color of his jeep..i'm so willing to pay my 7pesos once i get to ride with him again supposedly if i know his face. I felt guilty until now

yay! you remind me of myself back then. well actually it does happen to me for how many times already specially when i was still studying. sometimes because of some things that get our attention we tend to forget some things. there are even times before where i am already holding the money for the fare and yet i was still not able to pay and it will just surprise me that i still have it in my hands...

i feel guilty as well, but its not my intention and besides even if i want to pay the driver i can't remember him already...unless he's someone that i regularly seen... anyway, i also have experience of really not paying...haha yeah when i was in elementary and don't have money to pay coz i spend it for other things...lol! its embarrassing but that's part of my childhood! haha and i don't do that alone, im with another friend, sometimes what we do is to pay for only one person. hehe

yeah and maybe the driver didn't notice it as well... but sometimes its kinda embarrassing especially when the driver will ask for your fare...like before you alight he will tell you 'hey you're not paid yet!' haha yeah...those days, days of lots of fun and some naughty stuffs!

Lol..the experience is really funny when we remember it now. It's unintentional ayway so i guess it can be forgive. And also childhood days will only be experienced once so we all get to do funny and embarrassing stuff sometimes.. Thanks for sharing

shame on you!!! you took away 7 pesos from the poor driver's pocket!!! hahahaha!!! just kidding gaiza. stuff like this happens to the best of us. of course there are those who intentionally skip out on paying the fare but that is a different story. anyway, just pay it forward and do a random good deed to a complete stranger and that evens you out in the karma department. that's what i do and it works well for me. cheers!!!

No, I have not forgotten to pay the fare. It is the first thing I do when I board public utility vehicle. I know that its difficult to make a living driving around all day and so I try to be conscientious about it.

I hope so I can do that..But there are really time that I have a lot of things in mind that I really forget to pay the fare and that sometimes i pay when I'm already almost at my drop off place.

that happened to me, too, several times. Maybe i was preoccupied by other things like, exams, projects (that happened when i was in college) so i just stepped down the jeep as it pulled over. I even heard the driver saying between his teeth "small time syndicate". It was really embarrassing so i just pretended not to hear what he said and walked away fast.

I think you don't have to worry about what happened because it is not your intention to forgot paying in a jeepney. Maybe the next time you ride in a jeep just make sure that you must pay first to avoid incident like this.

Yay! Guilty too! Happened to me a couple of times... just lots of things running in my mind. Lol! But sometimes I forgot that I pay my fare already and paid it again... So, I guess its just quits on my side? right? LOL

yes i've tried or at least that happened to me unintentionally. when i was young, my friends at school used to ride a jeepney and intentionally not pay our fares but that was then. last time i remember that i unintentionally did not pay my fare was in college. i was crying that's why and maybe the driver was all focus to my crying and so he forgot or took pity and did no longer bother to ask my fare. i just then notice when i arrived in my apartment.

lol! I also had that experience many times already. The driver seems not to mind if I have paid or not cause there are too many people in the public transportation especially when you are using a jeepney.

Yes, it happens to me 3x and just a few days back. I'm on my way to my hometown, I ride jeepney from Alabang to San Pedro, I'm about to pay when we reach the SLEX exit but I forgot to pay. I was just looking at nowhere and thinking of many things on my head. When I reach San Pedro, I immediately got off the jeepney and then I realized I didn't pay. It was all pure unintentional. I feel sorry for the driver although I didn't see his face cause I sit so far from him.

Haha! That's embarrassing but funny. I have also experienced that. My friend and I were so engrossed in our conversation inside the jeepney. When we reached SM Manila and everyone alighted, we did, too. The driver called us back. Geez! We forgot to pay! Hehe...

Yes. It has happened to me once or twice. We are so used to going in the company cab and getting down when our home comes that while traveling in a public transport like an autorickshaw we forget to pay and start walking. Fortunately for me always the driver will call and request for the fare or I will remember after walking a few steps.

it happens to other commuters too..some people would even do it intentionally.., but you don't have to be guilty about it.., because.., you know it deep inside your heart you didn't intend to trick the driver and get a free ride.., right? so just make it up the next time you ride a jeepney..pay it double..! just kidding..=)

Haha..yes indeed i know deep inside it wasn't intentional. But i also don't intend to pay double everytime i ride a jeepney, i might end up losing most of my earnings

I could remember a very long time ago when I was in college when I forgot to pay for my fare. I only remembered that I still haven't paid when I was already walking away from the jeep. The driver did not yell at me and he just drove away so I just pretend everything was fine. But there is another incident when I forgot to pay that I went back and gave the due fare. It was when I was already mature enough to think that the jeepney drivers are also human who can forget because of their rough work. But they deserve to get paid for their honest and hard work.

I agree..I know drivers who can't even afford to pay for the rent of the jeep because the money they get for a whole day's driving is not enough causing them not to be able to provide for their families. Gas is high and the parts of the jeep for repair is also high..that's why i really feel guilty after realizing this.

This happened to me when I was still a student, thus, a long long time ago

I also got out of the jeepney, distracted. I guess the driver did not also know because he drove away as soon as I was safely on the ground. But, like you, I felt so guilty about it that for a moment, I wanted to look for the driver just to pay him. Have a nice day!

My boyfriend also used to forget paying when we were still students..but indeed that was a long time ago. I wish i just looked at the face of the driver so i can't be familiar with him once i get to see his face again..i didn't look at him. so anyway maybe I should feel guilty then since it wasn't intentional.

This almost happened to me once. I was so engrossed with the conversation my sister and I were having that I forgot to pay. The barker told me as I was getting down the jeep. I told him I was so sorry and paid our fare. I experienced taking something from a shop and forgetting to pay for it. I was an OJT trainee then, and the office had its coop mini grocery. I really had to go pee but I didn't have any toilet paper so I went to the shop first. It took me a long time to find the tissues that when I found some, I was almost busting to pee, I quickly grabbed the tissue and dashed out to the comfort room. After Peeing, I realized that my pocket still has the 50 peso bill that I was to use for paying. So in a mad sprint, I went back to the shop and apologized to the cashier. I told her I forgot to pay. She told me that I caught her by surprise when I dashed out with the tissue in hand. I apologized again, told her that I really had to pee at that point, and we had a good laugh about it. But I've got to hand it to you, when I realized I didn't pay, my heart started pounding like crazy. Haha

At least you were caught..

At least you were able to pay the fare and the tissue..you won't feel guilty after paying. I guess it's better to be caught than not being able to pay when you know you can pay it. Thanks for sharing

Yes, I have. There were times when I was to engrossed with my thoughts, and I just forgot to give my pay. I would suddenly realize after a while that I have forgotten to pay. Yes, it is so guiltful when you forget to pay, because the driver lost his income from you

Yeah it happened to me a few times before. There was even a time when the driver called me and asked for my payment!! I replied I'm really sorry, I just forgot because I was talking to someone on the cellphone. Anyway, don't feel guilty about it, unless the jeepney was full. Because if it wasn't full then he didn't really lose any money. But if it is full, then he missed a chance to ride someone else beside you who could have paid.

It wasn't full and the mother with the child has 2 more of his kids and she paid for only two persons and it was raining that time, people prefer to ride a taxi when it's reaining..that's why i felt guilty. Thanks for sharing

This happened to me too. I had lots of things on my mind that time and wasn't really paying attention to the ride which was why i forgot to pay. The jeep was full then, which was why the driver didn't notice if everyone has already paid.

I didn't even notice if the driver called me to pay or if the other passengers notice that i didn't give any fare or if the driver noticed i didn't pay.. :(

yes,but this happen to me very often because i really forgot to pay until i went down from the jeepney,sometimes i will only noticed that i didn't pay when i already out of the vehicle,that is why every time i will ride for a public vehicle i always pay as early as i can so that i will never forget it.
