Do you live in an apartment or in independent house?

Earlier we used to live in an apartment which was on the second floor of the building. However, I faced some difficulties in accomodating guests at the time of marriage of my first son. So, I had decided to go for construction of an independent. Therefore, I sold the flat, applied for Bank's loan and constructed a new house. Plot size is almost 3000 sq ft with built-up area of around 3500 sq ft. We have a small lawn, beatiful roses in the garden and also kitchen garden all around the house where I grow green vegetable. For the last five years, we are living here. My second son was married from this house only. However, both of us are getting older now and this is the high time to shift to our son's flat at Pune. My first son is a Commander in Indian Navy and the second one is an Engineer at Pune. It is always better to remain in the company of my son and his wife considering the fact that anything untoward could happen with me or my wife because we are getting old. Besides, the house is so big that it is difficult to manage it for us. So I sold my beautiful house. I am attaching a photograph of this house. By Novemeber, we intend to move to Pune and say goodbye to my this beautiful house,my gardens, kitchen gardens and the lawn. We would not be able to have garden in the apartment of my son but I would bring number of flower-pot and would put them on the three balconies. So, I have enjoyed living in apartment and also in an independednt house. What about you? Do you prefer an apartment or an independent house?

hello there mr udaymohan, didn't you feel any regrets of selling that beautiful house? with the grandeur construction and beautiful facade of our house found in baza Granada, this is in spain, my dad's hometown, they never thought of selling it. Albeit, they live most of the time in Bengalore, India. They preffered that during visits, especially for us siblings, there is no need for us to rent accomodation during visits there although the rest of my dad's siblings are permanently settling there. as for me, i would prefer to have my own house than renting one.

Hello Kumar, the fact is that both me and my wife cried on the day when we received token advance by the purchaser and signed the agreement. We both love this house and are feeling very sad. Thanks for your response.

I would prefer to live in an apartment as it is personal and I can do what I like to do, now that I am living with my parents there are many things which I am not being able to do such as return home late from parties and same.

On the contrary, I feel that you are better placed supported by the wings of your parents. Thanks for your response.

I'm still single. I live with my parents. We have our own house. We inherited the house from my dad's parents. It's really a huge house. I even have a discussion about it. I never experienced living in an apartment. But I would always prefer having our own house. It's really nice having your own. Plus no worries on monthly dues.

My husband and I have our own house and its not really a big house. Its only one room and the kitchen is already there, dining room, living room and bed room as well. of course there's another door for the restroom. But anyway, I love my house even if its just a small one. Its a gift from my in-laws when we got married.

It is not your house. It is your home. Whether small or big, you all sleep peacefully in this house. My best wishes.

I live an apartment, but I would love to get my own house one day. But I am still pretty young, and now I live in the city, so I think I will get a house and move to the countryside when I am a bit older.

I prefer apartment as it is good to stay with more people around you. In an independent house you don't find many people around except for some neighbors and your family members. So, I have never stayed in n independent house, but who knows I might have to stay in one in the near future.

I live in a single family, manufactured house. The house that I live in had been in my family for three generations, and only women have owned it because the men wanted nothing to do with this house. I am the third generation who will be owning this house. It's not so bad. It's small, but it is a place to live in.

It could be small but this is your house. Glad to know that the house belongs to your family for the last three generation. Thanks for your response.

hi right now I am stuck in this room in this retirement center but when my son accumulates enough funds from his new job we will be able to move into an apartment. here In the Us in California only well to do people can afford to live in a house so we must like to live in an apartment as we cannot afford to rent or buy a house. cost of living here is really outrageous. I love your modern house and wonder why and how you can moveout of a home you built just the way you like it. think about it for awhile first. oh i know you and your wife are getting old so of course you have to think about that. good luck anyway and God bless.

Hatley I really feel sad leaving this house. This house is so beautiful. However, age factor is forcing me to take a prudent step. I hope everything turns out well. However, I should also inform you that I intend to construct a house at Pune from the sale proceeds of this house. Thanks, Hatley.

Right now, my husband and I live in an apartment. Neither one of us can complain about living in an apartment. Since it's just the two of us, it's easier. However, we hope that someday we can live in a house of our own. Until then, we don't mind living in an apartment.

Hi udayamohan, I am sure it must be very difficult for you to part with your house , it is a lovely house. But in life sometimes we have to take such decisions in life. I live in a house which is large and has a garden around it.Earlier I have also lived in an apartment and since we did have some open space in the front and had 2 largish balconies I was able to have many flower pots there. However, I prefer living in a house because there is more freedom to do what you want ...all the best and have nice evening

Well, 3000sqft is such a big land....In my place u have to pay around 1 Crore to buy the land alone...I'm telling the minimum fixed rate, it might vary to 1.5 crore... it's because it's a metropolitan city!!! Well, i live in an independent house of 2400 SQFT.. My parents have built such a big house and we live in it.. I have completed my Engineering and looking for a job.. I always prefer living in an independent house without any disturbance.. rolling throughout...

Much better to have some space to grow veggies and run a few chickens and also some fruit trees. Breed ducks for meat etc. Better to eat your own produce and healthier. You will miss your garden.

Yes, I would certainly miss my garden and fresh green vegetable which we were getting plenty. I feel sad leaving this beautiful house but I have no other option.

I used to live in an independent house, but when i moved out and transferred to another city, I live in an apartment. Our family owns an apartment just near our home and lease it to tenants for a cheaper pric. What's ironic here is that I am renting an aparment in a different city which is more expensive than our apartment.

Neither an apartment or in independent house because I am still learning in my university these days. As a matter of fact, even if I graduate from college and then find a satisfactory job, it is next to impossible for me to live in an independent house in several years. You see, I am living in China where is full of people everywhere and I have no enough money to afford the expenses. So, to rent a house may be a wiser choice for people like me.

I love your Country China because you people have worked very hard and transformation is evident. There is big change in what your Country was in 1948 and what it is today. I predict that a time would come when your hard labour would result in successes and you would also be owning a big house. I wish you the best. Thanks for your response.

First off interesting architecture on your home.Where is it located ? We live in a double. It was suppose to be a starter home though we are still here. With the economy so bad we have had second thoughts on looking right now.We are at the 15 year mark where we would like to get a single at a fifteen year mortgage rate. Loosing nothing,Gaining freedom from a double .We are looking for a one story home as we are aging also. But right now seems to be risky to do anything the way our economy is. Plan two involves a retirement home,This would be another 20 years till they allow, Us to qualify.Requirements state you need to be 65.The cool part is you still have a garden, trips, freedom of tons of bills. At this point we are just waiting to see what the better option would be.Its hard to imagaine life without the yard, garden and privacy ,But the ease becomes comfy very fast. You will have little to no stress after move.Peace of mind counts for alot.Good Luck

I grew up in an apartment and I utterly hated it. My mother moved every time the rent went up a few dollars. The last apt I lived in when we were newlyweds I liked the best. It was mostly an adult community so not too much noise & people were decent to you there for the most part. Except the person whom hit my car while it was parked and cost me a new bumper. My house maybe a total PITA & Money Pit however we can do as we want decorating, paint, remodeling. garden, ect.
