i recieved one email this afternoon with pictures of old people. This is not the first i got that email and it does not bother me. I called one of my officemate and ask him how would you look lke when you get old say around 70 to 80 years old if you are still alive. I was amused by his reactions. I saw how he grimaced and said he would rather die if he see himself in the mirror as old as that in the pictures. He says he doesnt want his good looks to fade as he grow old. :) As for myself i would be very thankful if i can reach at that age. There are times that i feared of getting old but i always think of it as a blessing.

Since I'm now 73, I can look back and understand how your friend feels. All I can say is that as he gets older, he will naturally adapt to the change. What's bothering him is the extreme contrast between his present looks and how he will look when he's in his 70s or 80s. It doesn't happen overnight, and unless a person has nothing to boost his ego except his looks, he'll learn to deal with it. What's most important is what's inside, not what's on the surface. When it comes right down to it, he'll choose to live.

Hi catana, wow you are now at 73? and yet you were able to be here. how i wish could someday and hope i could reach that age. you are right it's just his good looks that he is worried of. He can see how those wrinkles in the pictures changed the looks of one person LOL. He has gray hair now even he is in his 30's and he is putting some dye to turn it back to black.

Bluerain, I know you didn't mean to be insulting, and I'm not offended, but... Being 73 doesn't mean I'm sick or crippled. I'm just as active on the web as anybody, and maybe even more than some of you youngsters. People stay healthy a lot longer these days, so there's nothing unsual about people of my age being on the internet. Hope your friend eventually gets over his obsession with his looks or he's going to be one very unhappy oldster.

I wasn't scared of aging but as I get older I hate it! With age comes problems and more risks! I am menopausal at 48. I need to lose weight and it getting easier to PUT wieght on then to lose it! You have more risk of diabites. Some things are getting more frustrating to do! I have become less active. I feel life gets harder and it stinks! I wish I was younger!

Oh,how i love getting old and have all the wrinkles and gray hairs,to show how long i lived and what i've done with the past years. Yes,some people were afraid of getting old and surgery is one of their options but i can say we cannot prevent ageing. Let it come naturally for our next generations to see the fine lines of life in our face, and tells each line every success and failures that we've faced and survived for them. Have a good day and happy mylotting

Hi jaiho, I already have those fine lines right now to think that i am just in my mid 30's. I never tried to put anything just to hide it and even my little girl is asking why she havent got those lines. :) well anyway as the saying goes "age isnt so bad when you consider the alternatives" Thanks for the share

We are all next in line. Everybody is going there, so why be scared. It is something that we cannot avoid. Just make each day count. Good day.

Though getting old is life's nature, I may say that sometimes I am frightened by it. I am not afraid to look old, but the limitations of being old gives me the worries. That is the feeling of being not able to do the things that I usually do, the fear of growing old alone...and the fear of not having the old people around me today that I love the most when I reach the age as they are...

Hi bokal, we cannot help it yes but getting old alone is what scared me also. I just hope my kid wont leave me when im too old and couldnt do things on my own if and only if i could reach as old as that. But again that depends on how i brought her up. I can see old couples sent to some home care because their children are too busy with their own family and career. I dont want it to be like that.

How you look as you age depends on lots of things. You will look better if you take proper care of yourself in your younger years. Also how you look is affected by your genes. I come from families that do not age horribly. I am not 70 or 80, but I am more than 50, and I have almost no wrinkles at all, and my teeth are good, and that makes a big difference as well.

It's funny, a number of people I know have said they would much rather die at 30 or 40 something than grow to be old, wrinkly, and less strong. Personally, as long as I can remain decently healthy and active, I do not fear growing old. I suppose my dad is a good role model: he's turning 80 next year and doesn't look it at all. He's not feeble, does just about everything he did 15 years ago when I was still a child, and I have a feeling he will live many more years (that, or suddenly pass away out of the blue, but I'd rather that than suffering and becoming weak, honestly). In the interest of living a good, long life, I try to take care of myself now as best I can. And I look forward to one day sporting a head of white or silver hair! :D

I am extremely scared of how being old might be for me. More so than dying. But, it doesn't mean I don't want it to happen, nor could I help it even if I did. It's just a simple fear of the unknown for me I guess. Not for physical appearance or anything but just pure and simply put is the unknown. But I'm sure I'll get comfortable with it as I get nearer, as with anything. Great topic, Bluerain! ++!

Hi meowcow, thanks! well i do think of getting old is scary before when i was in my teenage and i dont know why. But i was able to set that feeling aside. And as long as we can accept the fact that we are going age as the years goes we will be comfortable with it.

getting older is one stage of our life that need to be accepted because this is the reality that we will be facing of soon. What makes others is so afraid of getting older? it is really about fear of wrinkles, or it is because everyday we step closer and closer to the grave? Getting older have also positive benefits in our life they are great experience, more wisdom, more time in which to do things you want to do, greater awareness of priorities and what is really important in life and right to be grumpy.

I'm not afraid to get old, it is part of the life you got some phase in the live that you can stay there forever, for me the important thing is to do what you need to do at the right moment and at the right place, you can't regret for things that you haven't done a the right time, for me right now we have a lot things to do, that it seems that the time isn't enough for those thing.

come to think of it, i haven't much given thought whether i am afraid or not to get old. But now that that you're asking, i think i am not afraid to become old, although i want to age or grow old gracefully. it is a stage where we will get to naturally, that is if we don't die earlier. yeah, many are afraid to get old because of the wrinkled skin, sunken faces and all that it entails to be old. why be afraid? all of us will end up like that one day soon. no one is exempted.

Not exactly. It is a fact of life that everyone grows old and the best policy is to do it sensibly and gracefully.Even though you may get a few wrinkles or white hairs after 40 or 50 years of age,you have at least enjoyed many decades of beauty and youth.Thing is take care pf your diet, physical and mental health and strive for your goals and dreams.
