Do you think carnival games would go over well at garage sales?

For instance, tip over a duck in a pool with a ball and win a prize? Knock over some boxes and win a prize? If yes, what kinds of games and prizes (that are cheap) could I have? If no, what other kind of thing that would be different and fun could I do/ have?

Sure. Why not? Fun to play and if they win give them a coupon off on any item. I think that is a great way to get people to come in. Or you could have some prizes if you want and they could chose which they wanted. Games are always fun and a good way to get a crowd formed that might buy some items.

Yeah, I think the table full of prizes or a percentage off would be good. Thanks and take care.

What an interesting idea! And a great idea, I think! Hmmm...how about Find the Coin in the Cup -- have 3 paper cups set upside down with a quarter beneath one. If they find the coin, they may use it to purchase something from your sale! You could also do small containers of little items -- guess the number of items in the container and you can take the contents home with you. I'd use like a collector tin or something where they can't see the objects inside.

Maybe, but what if they loose? Do I keep having them do it until they win? The idea is to get rid of my stuff, so I guess I could have them do it until they guess right or find it. Interesting game ideas.

Am not sure about this idea. I think most people want to look at a garage sale, possibly buy and leave. Generally they are on the way to another garage sale. If their time is limited it may not work. But, you won't know until you try. If you decide to try it, much success and mega profits.

People our ages, correct. But people with children, since I don't have kid's stuff, the kids generally don't let the adults look, they fuss or want to leave. So if I entertain the kids, then the adults will keep on looking. I did a fishing game last year. Only had one taker, but while the kid was fishing, the parents looked and bought $10 worth of stuff. So you're right, most people just want to go to the next yard sale, but some want to really look and not be hasseled with they do.

Well its been nine months now so I am curious what you chose to do and how it worked out. I dont think it would be a very good success but I would love to hear about it to see if I am proved wrong. It is something that I never would have thought to do at a garage sale though.

It might work, but you'd have to have someone to man the booths while you are dealing with other customers..

You obviously have never been to one of my yard sales. Seldom do I ever have more than one car at a time. 2 cars is a phenomnon. Usually there are two of us at the rummage sale and I would probably have only one game or two. Then one person could be with the people playing and one at the cash box. So no problem there.

Sounds like my own garage sale..lol Except a few times I do have like 2-3 cars, but only one paying customer, but I'd still have at least one other person whether I have games or not so I can take needed breaks..This is why I have to get together with a friend to have one. The last one I had hoping my husband would help out turned out bad..He gave away a toy my son was selling and it wasn't a cheap toy, it was a wagon filled with legos...

Oh, Edge! That sounds like such great fun! If you have some bangle bracelets, you could set up some trinkets on a table, and if a person can get the bangle to make a ring around it, they win it! If you don't have bangles, you can get them by the ton at dollar stores, so it's free or cheap to do! A few kids could participate in a contest to see who can blow the biggest bubble with gum for a prize, or who can blow up a balloon until the first one bursts... Have a wonderful time! If the kids are having fun, their parents are bound to buy more than they might have...

The bangle bracelet thing sounds cool. I I'll have to give that some thought. One year I had "fishing" and that went over for a few kids. Popping baloons or bubbles, no thank you. I and lots of people who shop don't appreciate the noise, I know this from when I sold whistles one year.
