Sorta kinda, well, not really. You see, it was like this....I was sitting at the computer typing happily away at a response to a discussion I received in my alerts. I was remembering from years back and filling in details and wondering how the original poster would respond and what they would say. Then half way through a sentence I stopped because I remembered the original poster is one of those people who churns out numerous "discussions" that are really just a statement of something they did or something that happened that day and never comments back. The thought came to me as it has many times before..."this person probably doesn't even read these responses and so I thought Right! I'm having this response for my own discussion and so I did...not this one though. Your thoughts please

I know what you mean. One of my friends on here tends to churn out discussion after discussion that are very similar and they hardly ever respond to the comments. They may even be the same person that you are talking about? I got annoyed at this so I sent them a message once asking them why they never responded and guess what! No response! I think you did the right thing in making it your own discussion. Why reward someone who does not want to talk to us!

You get where I'm coming from. When I respond I'm hoping to get a comment back so as to properly interact in the discussion. The longer I'm here the harder it is to come up with a quality response and I think I do. I do not like to be bloody-well ignored!! The great thing is, I got not one but two discussions! Yay! Go me!

Yeah, go you! I got frustrated with this person as I consider them to have similar interests as me and I felt that we could have some good discussions, but they never respond. Posting and leaving is not starting a discussion. It is just stating and asking a question.

I would just delete the numerous email alerts from this person. It was not unusual for there to be groups of around 20 discussions a couple of times a day. They would only be 2 - 3 lines too. I've only recently been reading them again.

Hi Lakota, I missed this response of yours somehow...I guess the email notifiers are not working properly. Things usually go wrong when they are introducing yet another gimmick to the site. We are all different and each of us approaches myLot in our own way after interpreting the Guidelines and TOS our own way. Different strokes my friend.

hi msticle notreally as instead of wasting a good response on an irresponsible newcomer who still thinks all our responses are what earns him big money. Use it instead as a great discussion where all your mylot friends will come a long and respond to you. My thoughts are smart way to use a response that was not going to be answered and turn it into a discussion that will generate a lot of responses for you to comment on,lol

Hi Hatley, how is your day going along...happily I hope? What you said is just as I saw the situation. As you can see however it has not worked out that way...I have nearly 200 friends and look how many responses I have. Some of those responses are people not even on my friends list. Some of my so called friends never respond to my discussions. There are several friends I regularly respond to who never visit my discussions no matter how general I try to make my topic.

I wonder if those people even read the responses. You certainly can't tell. As far as making it your own discussion, why not? At least you'll get interaction that way!

That was mainly what I wanted...I had something to say and I wanted some feedback...you know, to have a bit of a discussion about it. The concept seems totally alien to some.

i know exactly what you mean. its the reason why some i dont even bother with. if they never respond to my response for them, i quit their discussions for sure. and many times i have decided to make my own discussions instead of responding with the paragraph.

Aren't we clever? I've thought of doing it before this but this is the first time I've gone through with it. I actually got 2 discussions...the one that stemmed from the original and this one. Every little bit helps

Ha! Right now I'm scratching my head asking myself, if I am sure that I didn't write what you wrote? LOL. You sound like me, questioning motives, and wondering if you are wasting your time or if something of value will come out of your efforts. I like what Tony Horton says, "Do your best and forget the rest" I have started applying this to pretty much every area of my life. It helps to keep me going, and it sure does alleviate a LOT of thinking....

That's a great philosophy. It wouldn't work for me though because I like to think. It's happened a few times before but this is the first time I've acted on it.

"Do your best and forget the rest" You are obviously a P90X girl then! I have a date with Tony Horton very soon for my daily workout ritual!

I am not sure I understand. I guess you mean you basically posted a rather lengthy and detailed response for no one's pleasure but your own, because the poster is one that neglects his discussions and just posts them rapid fire. I would say at least you had the pleasure of explaining yourself thoroughly.

Oh dear, I'm sorry if I didn't explain well enough..I knew what I meant. I actually left an abridged version at the original discussion belonging to the prolific poster who does not comment on responses and used the full version to make my own discussion which was at a tangent to theirs as well.

I did that too. I had a GREAT response to a discussion. So great, in fact, that I thought it needed a larger audience than just the person who started the discussion, so I took my response (yes I left it there) and added to it and made a whole new discussion - granted it was some time back, but it was then and still is timely, maybe I can find it...

I've thought of doing it several other times. I've even amended the response to a shorter version after copying the original and pasting it in "word", where it is promptly forgotten. When I did find it/them again the train of thought has gone and so the motivation is lost.

WOW! I am a newer here. And I have considered this at some time, but so far it has not been implemented. Maybe it is worth a try.

Hi there liweiwei0909, it can be such a waste to respond to a discussion with a long reply and then .... nothing. There is no feedback which makes you wonder if the discussion starter is even reading the replies. I would rather take my response and make a whole new discussion from it. It's definitely worth it because I will be paid a lot more for starting a discussion and commenting on the responses I get than just responding to someone else's discussion.

I usually make my track original. If I read my opinion to other responses I twist a little course to make it anew. I was rewarded being the best response rated. I love telling my thoughts. It makes you refresh.

Hi babyEj, when responding to a discussion, you might have the same opinion as others so it's a really good idea to be as descriptive as possible when relating how you arrived at your response. That makes a quality response that is obviously well thought out and uniquely yours.
