Hello my dear mylot friends, Now it's another school year. When I got back to school for the new school year, I got to know that twenty of our school teachers had already left here. At the first school meeting on September 26th, 2010, we were told by our boss that twelve of the twenty teachers were unemployed at the end of last school term or semester. Two worked here for more than ten years and were dismissed. I did not feel good when hearing their unemployment. It mades me feel insecure working here though our boss promised to have me working here all lifelong. At the end of every school year, a few teachers are either dimissed or leave for another place for work out of their own will. I am wondering how you feel when you know that your colleagues are dismissed. What will you do when such a thing happens to you? Let's have a discussion here so that we know more about how to face and deal with this situation. Thank you for your response in advance. Take care.

First let me say I do feel sorry for your teacher friends who were dismissed. That wouldn't be easy to handle. I am retired as of last year so it wouldn't effect me at all. My husband works in a field that is needed and required so he's safe. Our kids work in fields also that are secure so all is well.

Being unemployed really scares most people who have lost their jobs one way or another. What we should do, I think, when we still have jobs is to find alternative sources of income and we also need to save some money just in case the inevitable happens. When I lost my job, I find ways to have some source of money. I even accepted small-time jobs that offered minimum wages. so that I can still survive

Hello jeb. I can understand the situation you mentioned here because one of my relatives has to look for another job when he got laid off. Luckily for him, he got one soon afterwards. Take care, jeb.

This is a very discouraging news and I don't like to hear it, too. At first I thought you worked for a public school which the job would be much more stable. I am not sure whether it can be the same for private schools. After all, they need to earn money. The boss can't promise anything forever, this is my experience. Their goal is making more profit. If I was dismissed now, at first I might not feel good. But since I had a child, so at least I would try to think for the good side. At least I would have more time for him. This won't be a totally bad thing. I hope you will work happily. I love China

I can understand that men have many responsibilities to their families. Today the teacher can be a good and stable job. The benefits are a lot especially when you work in a good school. I think sometimes teaching job is available when you have the good social relationship. Here not all the teachers I know are qualified to be good teachers, but they still work in the school without problems.

Hello youless. I used to be a teacher in a public school years ago, but I quit and came to work in a private one for higher salary. I have worked here for more than ten years and have experienced a lot here seeing teachers come and go every year. Now the school is getting more and more strict with its teachers. The students' comment to teachers is of vital importance and influence. There is no problem for me to stay working here so long as it exists, but when seeing some of them dismissed, I feel upset for them. But anyway, the school only keeps good and qualified teachers for its own survival and profit as well. There have been quite a few times when I thought/think of moving somewhere to Guangdong, but I was and still am lazy taking the trouble looking for a new teaching job. Guangdong is a better place for me as it is close to my hometown, but my best friend here told me not to, saying that the salary offered there is not true. I did struggle a lot in my mind about leaving for a new school for higher salary in Guangdong, but I am no longer young and it is not that easy for me to find one any more. If there were another chance, I would give it a try. Also I have to work to support my family. It is really too much for a married man though. Anyway I love working and it is a basic way of living as well. Have a good day, youless.

Hello William. I hope you are still employed :) Well as a game tester, when i worked at Ubisoft, people were always coming in, as others were leaving, so the traffic of employees if i can call it this, was in a continuous change. I did not feel insecure because i knew i was overqualified for the job and was doing it really good. In your case i believe it was good to have your options open, in case you heard any hints about you being on the next list of being left out, to may go to another place to work.

Hello elitess. I am still employed in the same school and have been working here for more than ten years. Things today are different from what it used to be. It is much more competitive than it used to. So we have to work harder and achieve more if we expect to keep on working here. Sometimes I have the intention to move on, but as I am busy and also because I am used to everything here, I usually give up my original idea, feeling quite puzzled. But anyway since I am working here, I make it a rule to work as effectively and successfully as I can. Enjoy your work, elitess.

If don't have job is really a sorrow. but he must encourage himself to find a new job no matter how difficult it is. maybe really unfair for them but this is life, not bad lucky. if they inspire themselves must can find a new work. maybe better than this. but I don't want the dismiss happen, find a fitful job doesn't easily as if going to a strange place and start new things, this is really very sad to face the reality, the great heavy on them shoulder, every time must think about tomorrow and look around for a new job...I give them the best wish=

Hello johney. This colleague of mine who was dismissed from our school is arranged to work in a hotel run by the boss. Of course he would not get as much as he used to. Sometime last month I met him in the hospital with a short time chat. He seemed to like his new work there, but I am not sure how long he will stay working there since his major is not related to hotel management. I wish he could do a good job there. Thank you for your response, friend.

Hello Williamjisir, I would feel sad about it, because its really not easy to apply and start a new job with new environment. When I was the one who will be dismissed then I have to accept it, and find the reason why I was dismissed. And Unfortunately I have to find a new job again and to where I really belong. ^-^

Hello Bingster. I can see that it is not that easy to start a new job with a new environment. There have been a few times when I wanted to move to somewhere else for a teaching job, but my best friend persuaded me not to and I am now still staying where I have been working for so many years. You are right that there must be some reasons that one is dismissed from his work and the reason is not that difficult to figure out. Therefore in our usual working period it is a must for us to manage to work as well and effectively as we can to save our job. Thank you for your response, my dear friend. Take care.

Being unemployed does bother anybody who has had a job which is a source of living. What we should do when we are still employed is to look for other alternative sources of income and we should save some money just in case the worse thing happened, which is, being out of job. If it does happen to me, I will find other jobs which I am capable of doing, even small-time jobs that pays minimum wage, at least, I can still survive.

Hello jeb. I agree that even small-time jobs without as much as we could earn in a regular normal job helps for our survival. So I guess it might be a good idea for us to have some part-time jobs as well. Good luck with you, friend.

I'm sorry to hear about their unemployment, but why were they dismissed? If it happened to me, it will certainly bother me a lot. To be unemployed means without financial support. When I graduated from college and didn't find a job for the first whole year, I felt rather discouraged and even started to question about my ability. But I kept searching and searching and in the end, I finally got a job and so far I've been doing well on this job. So what I'm trying to say is that we have to face it and do our utmost to handle the situation when such a misfortune falls to us. It's no use complaining or worrying all day.

Hello xiaoyue. As to their unemployment, it is to some degree related to the students comment to the teachers at the end of each school term on the questionaire for them to fill in. We have this questionaire for two times a year. If the students are pleased with their teachers, they will give good comments and vice versa. Besides, it is very competitive in the school. I wish you to enjoy your work, xiaoyue. Take care.

Yes, It is bothers me because I have family to taken care unless I'm single and stay with family. With current age I have to ensure that I'm secure with position but it is doesn't mean that I at safe zone anything can happen. I have tried source site income through multilevel marketing, single level marketing but end up frustrated because I'm not out spoken person. The is not short cut to success unless we to have work hard to achieve it

In such situation I may feel insecure.Insecurity always lead to tension. In a tense situation one can not work properly and will not feel good. So your feeling is genuine. But there is no alternatives. You have to stay there as long as you can not get some other opportunity. So be careful,do your work sincerely and do not woo your boss. May God help you.

When any of our friends or relatives face such situations in life we really feel very sorry for them. We have to help them out in whatever way we can. Even some kind words will go a long way. Such things can happen to anybody.

...personally, i don't know how to deal with this situation other than doing my best to look for a job..although money is a factor to consider too...i am a bread-winner in our family so if I don't have job, what will happen to my family? - Who knows, right?..It is a very serious situation that I don't want to experience or if ever I will be on that situation, then the only solution would be to look for a job immediately...

Well, it is unfortunate anymore that people are never guaranteed their jobs like they once was. Even people at Big Companies are being let go all the time. In a way it makes you wonder who is Safe anymore, and what do you do if this was to happen to you. My husband is seeing it more and more with his job as well. All I can say if you are a Praying person continue to Thank God for the job you have, and Trust in him to always provide.

It is hard to say that nowadays we could have an absolutely permanent and stable job since it can change anytime and anywhere. You are right that we should keep on praying to thank God for the job that we have and trust him to always provide. Everyone needs to have a job to go on with his life and support his family. Be blessed, friend.

I lost a very high-paying job three years ago when the economy in the US got very bad. I think at the company where I worked we all expected it was going to start happening, just not when and to whom! So at first I was shocked and then very depressed for a long time. Scared of looking for a new job and having to start over again after 10 years of working for the same place. But in a lot of ways I think it helped me. I am now working in a better place that I actually enjoy going to every day. I don't make as much money and I had to change my living situation, but I guess some things are better than they were. Of course not making as much money isn't, but I have figured out how to live cheaper so I don't think I'm any worse off right now. I know I have been lucky, too, in that I had my parents to help me at first when I could not pay my bills. Now that I am working again I am saving the money to pay them back. They say they don't want it back, but I want to do something nice for them since my parents have always been there to help me in difficult times.

Hello shira. I am very happy to know that you lived through that period of time smoothly with the help your kind parents. I agree that it does affect us to some degree when we have to move from one working unit to another, especially when we have worked in the same place for so long a time. Sometimes when I am thinking of moving somewhere else to work, my friends tell me not to and then I choose to stay. Anyway, I wish you to enjoy your new work and life. Take care, shira.

We cant control the things that happens. But what we can do is keep a clear head about things and do not lose control in our selves. It's a terrible thing to lose teachers and have lay offs but..... We have to look on the bright side of things. Although they lost their jobs its a oppurtunity to seek for better. I was laid off and Im unemployed and their are times I get upset but you have to look at it as if your saying hey I may have lost my job but it was taken so I can have better! Do not fret your job because they saying is true " What God has for me is for me" And if tthat job be for you, no boss, no high person, nobody can take that from you. But if its not for you " God will give you something so much better pray for your friends they will be find God bless.
