All of the cats I have ever owned do this. My bunch of four will beg for food the minute any of us humans come down the stairs--even if they have just been fed by another human and they still have food in their bowls! And the looks on their faces, and the pitiful meows, make it sound like they haven't been fed in weeks! And then, half the time, we'll put out more food, and they'll take one bite and walk away. I think it's just designed to see how much they can make us do for them, because, as every cat owner knows, they are in charge and we are there to serve them :-)!

It sounds more to me like they're just begging for attention, not food. LOL

My cats are just like that. They're always hungry for food even though we give them enough. I think all animals are like that. Even my dogs are always up for munchies even though they're already full. Animals are so greedy and they're cute to watch hungrily eat something. Anyway, try not to give them a lot of food. Like reduce their food for like 2 meals a day so that they know when their limit to food. When they receive a lot of food, they would start thinking that they're supposed to eat that much a day, probably more, and they'll start getting food from your kitchen, table, etc. This is what happened to our cats. That's why we don't let food stand out in the kitchen without watching out for out kitties.

I always leave food out for my cats to snack on as they please. I don't portion their food. They will still beg for treats but not as loudly. I have fairly large dishes for their food and will fill them once a day and leave it at that. Of course, I don't feed them wet food. Dry food is better for their teeth and keeps better when sitting out all day.

That sounds like typical cat behavior. My cats act like they're starving no matter how much I feed them. They could probably eat until they are legless blobs and they would still go crazy if they heard me open their bag of treats.
