I'm so upset at this it's not funny I'm trying soo very hard to keep fighting the fight and keep strong and positive but honestly a person can only really take so bloody much..... Back in May when we had a excess amount of rain well lets just say in my basement it went...The foundation in the house that I'm renting is sinking and I told my landlords of this and they are just the property managers of the property as the owner lives a ways away from here.....Ok that was fine....I waited 4 months to see ANY sign of a repair worker to come fix the problem....Also I've noticed and put in a request a week or more ago for the maintenance guys to come clean the ease troughs..... The guy that was hired to do the outside layed a new sidewalk that was it....Done very poorly we had a month of ausome weather not ONE sign of a worker....Meanwhile mold and crap has formed on the inside GREATTTTTTT.....Well finally they hired some guys to take out the mold.....BUT yet the guy that was hired for the outside no sign no word NOTHING....Also that guys doing the inside work well they have been taking their sweet time too....Today it is pouring rain and my ease troughs haven't been cleaned and I just walked by the basement and surprise surprise a puddle on the floor YET again GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sorry just needed to let that out lol..... I've been looking for a new place to rent since this happened and I'm starting to loose hope of finding an affordable place for me and my kids that I'm tempted to leave the current city I'm in....I love this city I love it here I just HATE my house....

Call the city inspector, or zoning ordinance person, or code inspector in your town. You may have to call City Hall to find out the proper office. Report what is going on, as that is a health issue for you. The silly manager, if he would clean the eaves trough and make sure the gutters were working properly and grade the soil away from the foundation, the basement would not leak. I hope you can find affordable, safe housing.

BlueAngelRS You should not have to deal with what you've been dealing with, especially the mold thing, it should be gotten rid of as soon as possible for your and your children's benefit! I wish you luck in finding a new place and keep your fingers crossed, there might be a house about to become available in your city where you can rent AND it might be cheaper AND better then the one you're in now. Best of Luck, and don't fret. Even if you can't find one in your city maybe you can find one not so far out that you won't have to change schools if your kids go to school, and you won't have further to travel for work or your fave grocery store or what not

BlueAngelRS, I can understand how hard it can be to keep an open mind, I also know what it's like to be anxious and excited about something. I am trying to keep calm though I am really excited about my husband and I looking for a place, problem is I might just say YES to anything lol. Hmm, I hope that you can find something that suits you, that is not much more then what you are paying now, the same price, or is cheaper. Rent can be sooo high!

Most times we have to be happy with what we have. I think one of the thing you can do is to think and find one of the solution for your problem. I think may be you can do some little little things in your house to make your house more beautiful or you can try to find another place to live where there is more comfortable.

Yikes! That really stinks, sorry to hear that your going through all of this and that the workers (if you can call them that) are taking their sweet time! I have honestly been looking for a new place to live since our ex room mate left, but started looking more seriously since I found out I was pregnant with Chloe! Their is just NOTHING available in this city, and if their is something it is either a dump or wicked expensive. Looks like we might be stuck here for yet another winter and I know the feeling of just wanting to give up, and crawl under a rock! The basement in this house has mold in the laundry room and bathroom in the basement and it is now starting to come up into the upstairs and it doesn't look like the landlord really has any concern about it! I was having a shower the other day and I noticed that it is showing through on the ceiling too, so the old land lord must have known about it, but painted over it r something to do a "quick fix". I say that because the old Land Lord lived up here for a while. I tried to leave to go to a bigger city in April, but that didn't pan out because it was TOO big! That city had over a million people! I too have a feeling of not knowing what to do, and am stressed about their being just nothing available for rent anywhere!

The main people that I am worried about are my kids! Especially with Chloe still being a baby. I think I am going to call the City tomorrow and see if I have any options, what they are, etc and hopefully be able to go from there. I would go to Medicine Hat if I had the chance! We are going to stick it out as long as we can now that my hubby got his job back, but it won't surprise me if we move somewhere next summer and hopefully get settled before Angelina starts Kindergarten. Because he has his job back the ONLY way I will stay in this city is if we get moved into a better place that we can afford and has nothing wrong with it!

Thanks for that and yes I am starting to think they can be called that when they actually have done some work....Another thing is too they have new drywall but where have they stored on my deck in the back so it's getting wet as we speak graaaaaaaaa....I'm so sorry to hear that the mold in the basement suite is now affecting you guys upstairs....I hear you we should have a stress rental crisis party or something lol....I do hope that you guys are ok and that you find something soon too...I understand your reasons for not wanting to go to the bigger city I would have felt the same way....I'm thinking Medicine Hat but am scared at the same time....I hope that your stress lessons for ya soon hun...

I hear you there I'm worried about the kids too...My son has been sneezing like crazy and we have have developed a bit of stuffy noses and coughs but it's not persitant....I was told by the Rentals Board to write a letter to your landlord stating what the problem is and what you want done and by when....Also I would make several copies just incase they try to say we didn't recieve a letter....It's what got the moldy walls taken out in my place was a letter....I would love it in Medicine Hat too but with my ex and I just working things out I think that is too soon....

Goodness, what a horrible mess you are in. Contact your city and see what they can do. Also contact a lawyer, as this situation can harm your health. Perhaps also contact the local paper and news station, perhaps they will run a segment on slum landlords. I hope you can find more suitable lodgings very soon. It is such a shame people take advantage of the poor like that. have you considered purchasing a house of your own? There are many on the market for very little money (for a house that is) and if you can get financed or even borrow from friends and relatives, you could have your own home rather than throwing your money towards someone else and you can build equity rather than helping these slumlords build up their credit.

My credit is shot otherwise I would love to own my a house but my parents divorced they rent themselves so I don't have friends and family with that kind of money and the houses here are expensive even to rent....I've been complaining since day one even phoned and complained today...We have been living like this for 4 months already the mold walls are out but still it leaks...

I don't like my house much either because if doesn't look the way that I want it too look, and if I had it my way, I would decorate my house differently.

blueangel irs do not you have a housing complaint board of some kind in the city you live in? You need to report this water and mold situation as they will send their own repair people and c harge the owner of the complex I am no sure what its called here but we had to use it once as they were not repairing the leak that came from the apt above us into our bathroom.they did just what I described but the sad part was the owner was a pig and asked us to move. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Yes there is and I already called my landlord to complain yet again today and I'm now waiting to see if action is taken the mold walls are gone they just haven't completed the work and stopped the leaking...The Rentals board in my area already knows and I've wrote a letter already and presented it to my landlord I will be calling rentals soon...

I'm sorry to hear this. Is there some "deadbeat landlord" law in your area that you can use to push the landlord into acting?
