My Wedding Ring Has Turned Up, I Can't Believe It!

Only on Saturday was John telling me that he was trying to save up for a new wedding ring for me at Christmas. At the time I thought it was so sweet of him to tell me this as he's been having financial problems, so to think of a replacement wedding ring..well, it's him all over. Such a kind man. Anyway, on Sunday John had been clearing out some of his stuff that had been annoying him for some time. He has a habit of keeping letters and such-like so I was pleased he did this without me nagging him lol. I told him, that to be fair I would do the same. So, I've just been clearing out a drawer that has been bugging me for ages. In that drawer is one of those linen recycling bags that I got from work ( when I was in Waste Management about 3 years ago) and I started putting other things in there ready for disposal. Anyway, whilst rummaging through this bag I couldn't believe my eyes. Right at the bottom was a glistening object that I can honestly say I didn't know was my wedding ring. I took the object out then realised what it was..my wedding ring that had been missing for some months now. I may have started a discussion about it so it would've been during the winter, at least. This ring had only been placed on my finger in April 2008. I stared at this ring for ages before ringing John and Mum to tell them the news. It has an unusual design and is white as opposed to yellow gold so I'm unsure if it could've been replaced anyway. I kept staring at it and smiling thinking, "Well, it just can't be.. can it?" How on earth has this thing got into a bag in a drawer? It doesn't make sense. In actual fact, at the time of losing the ring I thought I'd flushed it down the toilet..silly I know but I couldn't find it anywhere..either nestled in carpets or under the bed, or in the bed. I just didn't think to check the drawer. Well, who would? So I've had my gorgeous gladioli cheering me up yesterday and now this. I will never, ever forget my wedding day but finding the original ring that I thought I'd lost forever..well, it can't get much better than that, in my view. These things come in threes. What on earth could be next? Any ideas?

Finding the ring will outshine everything else that may come my way..but I must admit, money from SOMEWHERE would be wonderful right now.

I was going to suggest that maybe a job would be your third cheery thing.I imagine that since your ring was loose, you put your hand in that bag and the ring slipped right off without you noticing. Then you put the bag aside. I am doing some drawers as well. I wonder what I might find. I bet that was a wonderful surprise for you and John both. Christmas will even be sweeter.

That would be nice! I'm still awaiting a letter from Cumbrian Properties to see if I've got an interview or not. It will be two weeks on Friday that I sent in my CV but these days it takes ages for companies to sift through applications because they get so many now. Even if I get an interview I'd be ecstatic about it as that would be an achievement in itself..getting that far.

Yes, it was wonderful to see this ring turn up after all this time...a replacement would've been lovely but not the same. As for the "job" thing. I'm afraid I didn't get short-listed for interview at Cumbrian Properties, the latest vacancy I went for. Oh, well, back to the drawing board!

Wow! That is sweet! It means that God gives you the sign to really care about the symbol of your love. Keep it safer, and make sure you will never lose it again!

Thank you, I will try my best! In actual fact, I shall get the ring altered so it's not as loose which is why I had problems with it in the first place. Still doesn't explain how it got in a bag in a drawer but God must've put it there for me to find. There's no way I'd put it there. Wow, I'm in a good mood!

That is so GREAT! I guess the "Black Hole" at your house decided that since he was going to save to buy another one, it mustn't be a important as it thought and spit it out... I swear that's how things end up in places we haven't been in YEARS!

Thanks! I wouldn't mind but it's not the first time I've looked in that drawer for something..and in that same bag too. I think your theory must be correct. It does seem odd that the ring has turned up now and not the other few times I've been in there. I'm going to get it altered on Saturday. I'd rather the thing be welded onto my finger than risk losing it again!

Wow, that is awesome news! That is weird that it was in a place like that though! My wife lost her ring for months a couple of years ago. She hunted high and low for it. She thought that she had thrown it out accidentally. Then one day my daughter came running out of our bedroom saying that she had found it lying on top of our bed! No one had any idea where it had been or how it got there! I did not wear mine for about a year and a half or two maybe as it it was too big for me. As soon as I got married I started to lose weight and I never had it resized just in case I put the weight back on. My weight has been fairly stable for the last few years so earlier this year I had it resized and I had to go down 4 sizes! It is actually my wedding anniversary today. 4 years since we were married. :-)

So, I take it your today is our tomorrow which makes it 8th Sept right? If so, it's my hubby's 40th birthday. Honestly, it's true. When I had a further discussion about my wedding ring with Mum over the phone she said (in a really serious tone).."The goblin did it!" "Erm, excuse me?! "The goblin did it..the goblin hiding under the bed. You can't see him because he's brown and the carpet's brown..but the goblin did it..he hid the ring and the fairies led you to it. The fairies had been tied up by the goblin all this time so when they freed themselves they led you to the ring when you tidied up." "Rrrriiiiggght!" I mean, what can you say to that!!
