what do you think about Mike Portnoy leave Dream Theater?

I only just saw this today on Twitter... so is he going to stay with Avenged Sevenfold then? I don't know much about him or Dream Theater in all honesty but I am learning that this is quite a big deal. I guess it would be like any band losing an influential member. Has he released a statement as to why, yet?
