9/11 Where you there?

I was not there on 9/11. I watched as so many others did on t.v.. A week later I was there with the fireman from my Father's and Sister's firehouse. I had been a member before having moved but volunteered to go with to help with the search for those who where lost. As I was not active I was there as support for our fighters, with food and clothing replacements, mostly gloves. It was horrific. I was blocks away and not in the main devastation, but I saw the horror in the eyes of our fighters (from NJ) who had to dig through finding not so much bodies as parts. It was beyond words. Today I think back to the time spent there and of the loss so many suffered. It saddens me that some would use this date for media publicity as that Pastor who wishes to burn holy scriptures has done. This is a day to be remembered but not in that fashion. My prayers go out to the families of the lost. To the firefighters, EMTs and all who went through the horror of searching and clean up after. Please no matter what your religion send out a prayer to these people.

I was just at home here in Manila then it happens that my Mom and brother are watching on TV so while they are switching the channels they saw the one tower that was already hit by plane that was aired on CNN. Suddenly the second plane came to crash the another tower so they were able to see it live on CNN. That is the time they realized that it is about terrorist attack. My mom went to my bedroom and she told me about the shocking update. Since then we were all focusing on TV even our maids. Then my Aunt who happens to be our neighbor went to our house just to talk about what happened in New York. We don't have relatives that is working on that building but we have relatives somewhere in New York City. Until the next morning I am still watching the live news and the update. The feeling was devastating as I would have the regret that my brother and I didn't bother to tour on the Twin tower last 1998 but we only have pictures in far view.

When 9/11 happened I was living in Maryland, my son was only 10 months old. A friend and I were going to drive to NY and do what we could to help, but I could not leave because of my baby. So I watched the t.v. all week and cried. Right now I am watching a rebroadcast of The Today Show from that day and it is making me upset and horrified all over again. Watching those beautiful towers with so many people just crumple, is still so shocking and I still will never understand WHY?

I wasn't present in the actual setting of that faithfu levent. I was living thousands of miles away from the scene but I did watch that on tv, too. I absolutely agree with you that some people are using the event to gain publicity. Woe to those people. We should move on and start thinking how to heal the wounds instead of going back to the painful memory of hat date and causing some new would be tragedies. Enough is enough. We must learn our lessons from the past and try not to repeat such miserable fate....

I was speaking on the phone in that moment. Terrorist acts can never be justified, and other's lifes are a property of each alive person only, so nobody has the right to kill others for any reason, political, religious or whatever

This is a day I will always remember and will not forget. I was at home when it happened and was watching my favorite T.V. program when out of a sudden they had to cut the show and the news about the 9/11 flashed in our screen. I was horrified. I joined vigils held in our school. We also had candle lighting activity for those who lost their lives. I know that the families left by those who lost their lives in this tragic event still have scar left in their hearts. I can't blame them for the hatred. That's why when we pray we should not only pray for the souls of those who lost their lives but also for their loved ones. Let's pray that they will find it in their heart to move on and not to live with so much hatred for the rest of their lives.
