I was watching Gossip Girl last night and Serena (Blake Lively) appeared in a scene with her dad, (step dad?) in a dolly dress with a tiny bust line and she was practically falling out of it. I looked all wrong from the perspective of the gown fitting properly but to be with male family members it seemed doubly inappropriate. Am I showing my age??
I've noticed that Serena shows lots of her breasts in this series - more than anyone else I reckon...do you agree?

I am not sure about this one as I have never seen it but I agree there is no need for it
It is being shown more and more in adverts as well it is always beautiful, slim, perfect and half dressed Women now, it annoys me that the adverts are getting this bad, what has happened to all the funny ones and the natural People one

Blake Lively character in Gossip Girl sells the series, particularly her fashion style. Though it may look a bit daring to the conservative views.

I do not watch the series, but I am sure I am getting more conservative as I get older. I also do not like clothes that show bellies I do wear somewhat low cut shirts, as I feel like I am suffocating with a t-shirt collar, but I do not have to show it all for people to know what I have. I never said anything one way or another to my daughter, but she is very conservative and covered up, around everyone, including brother, step dad, husband, etc. Her dad was very "covered up" as well. I guess people do what they were raised with.

I've always been very well covered. If I've ever worn something that bares my chest I've always been conscious that if I bend over even a little then my boobs will be on show. Both my girls also dress modestly and my elder daughter is looking after her girls too. My younger daughter is letting her 13 year old dress like a girl in her late teens/early twenties (she is very well developed for her young age)...I thought she looked lovely in her party dress but I was also very embarrassed for her...it was just family but I'm sure she would wear the dress elsewhere and what is the message she's giving out??
I saw my brother's only daughter on FB a few months back. She was barely covered up top and it was a huge shock to me to see her like that. Her life is always set to party mode and I guess she's spoiled. She has 3 brothers and I guess she has always got away with stuff.

hi mstickle No I dont think you are showing your age, as I am e ven older and it looked inappropriate around her own father. that scene
reminded me of a resident we had here who just left. She had a nice
sleek figure but oh my G she outdid Dolly Parton in bust size and she wore clothes with cleavage down almost to her navel. If she bent over
too much they would pop out I am sure. I guess she did not like it here for she left in a couple of weeks. One of the men at the next table nicknamed
her Miss Boobs.

her Miss Boobs.

I watch the show and everything but I haven't really thought about this. I think this is just how a lot of people dress these days, and sure, real people do not necessary dress like that at home, but remember that it is a tv show and they are probably trying to get more ratings both by doing stuff that seems a bit odd, and by showing skin, since Blake is pretty stunning after all!

They are all amazingly stunning. The thing that gets me is how short the guys are and how young they look...except for Chuck who dresses like a 60 year old from the 60's and he's what??? barely 18? That's a tad pretentious if you ask me but he does carry it off well most of the time.
