Oh My! The taste of Store-Brand Fresh Milk......

Name-Brand or Store-Brand Fresh Milk? - There are many brand to choose from for a fresh milk, but the price are so much different between both of them. The different can be as high as 60%. They are totally the same except for the label and the price, so which one will you choose?

Today I went to the Hypermarket and wanted to buy some grocery, one of the item was fresh milk, there are one of the name-brand fresh milk cost about $5.45 and the store-brand is only cost $3.39, with the different of $2.06. I have seen the name-brand on TV many time and from the advertisement it seem nice and fresh to drink. But I never seen any ads for the store-brand fresh milk at any places including TV. It gives me kind of push to buy the name-brand but at last due to the price different, I choose the store-brand. After went home, I open up the store-brand fresh milk and drink, Oh! my! Do you know what? It taste no different from the name-brand fresh milk, totally not at all. All this while I had bought the expensive fresh milk and spend extra of $2.06! What do you think? Name-Brand or Store-Brand?

hi yspmyl its just like the difference between benadryl brand antihistmines and generic , they both help me get over my allergies and I save a lot of money buying the generics everytime. so often I have found that store brands are just the same as the more expensive name brands and I found out some of the store brands are actually produced in the same factory as the more expensive name brands. so I am all for saving money.

Hi Hatley, For me if it is the medicine, I dare not try the generic one. I scared that will bring some side effect instead... You are right actually in term of some of the products, they are actually produced from the same factory and just labeled into different brand's name. Especially for those branded stuff. They are almost 100% more expensive that those non branded stuff. The non branded stuff have the same quality like the branded stuff. So why pay more for the name brand. I guess many people buy the name branded like jeans or clothes just would like to show off.

I always buy the cheapest- which is usually the store brand -especially when it comes to something like Milk.. I mean it comes from a cow... Either one Name brand or store brand.. THEY shouldn't be adding anything to your milk.. so Milk is going to taste like...... wait for it.. MILK! why pay 2 times more.... Water is the same thing for me.. I mean ...it's WATER... Other things like Salt and Sugar.. why pay more.. they are what they are.. unless you buy something that has many ingredients and a recipe to it.. They should all be the same. If it contains ONE ingredient.. Why pay more?

I don't usually buy store brand beverages specially when it comes to milk. But I'm glad you shared this here. Thank you for the information.

I have no choice but to buy fresh milk from the Hypermarket just because the place I live can't really find a real "fresh" milk that straight come from the farm.
