As I have observed with little experience in Mylot that there are not many one discussion are posted in Mylot. But a few are there. If the one sentence discussion is a challenging or an enquiry or clarifiction I posted responses but my response used to be lengthy and clarificatory.I have also observed that some of my responses were deleted by notifiction from Mylot as the relevant iscussion was iself delete. I was under the impression that the discussion itslf was not in conformity with the rules of the site.It never occured to me that my response was deleted because it was response for single sentence discussion. Is it so? I have to be careful in future. For your information many one line discussions do not evoke any response since they look like statement of facts and not topics for discussion .From that angle also we need not post any resonse. Thank you for sharing. That is why it is stated before any discussion or response to be more clarifictory in your discussion or response. The reason given is that others can understan.you should always remember whether the other man has understood what you said and it is not what you said. The successful people are always those who make their point understood by others.

@ chayapathys, your response is right on what mylot wants from us. To be discriptive in our discussions and responses.

Thank you for selecting my response as the best. The point is that you should be clear in what you mean or what you want to convey. How can you expect the other man to understand as to what is in your mind unless you make yourself clear and understandable. That is why the clear instruction for initiation of a discussion or posting a response as..." Be as descriptive as possible" . Is there any ration to the space. NO. Then why not be as descriptive as possible.

I don't think that all one liners get deleted or that all violate the guidelines, but yes the majority do. Most one liners aren't very discriptive or are poll type discussions such as what's your favorite toothpaste, crest or colgate. Explain. Even asking for an explanation doesn't make this a worthy discussion. Why? I think because most will only answer the initial discussion which one do you like better. So no I generally don't answer one line discussions, bit I also don't just answer based on how long or short the discussion is, but on the content. A lengthly discussion can get deleted for violating the guidelines also.

I don't like to give one line responses to discussions. How can your opinion be short that all there would be is one line to support your thoughts. i don't like to see responses given back that are one line for the same reason. You just need one more than one line to really express what is on your mind.

Yes, if the discussion is interesting. I will still give my response even if it is pretty short. Sometimes the length is not a problem. It depends on the point. On the contrary, sometimes I seldom will respond to very long discussions because I already feel so bored to read it. By the way, if the discussions are deleted by Mylot, usually it is not because of they are short. They are deleted because they broke the rules of Mylot, such as it is like a survey post. I love China

Hi there.:) I never really encountered discussion with just a single line.I doubt if the poster will ever convey her/his message by doing so. Normally, I'd prefer to respond to a discussion that I truly understand and sometimes this discussion is as long as a short story.LOL . But, after reading it, I don't feel any regrets in doing so.:) For a single line or a one liner discussion, I don't feel or think that I'd bother to post a response. It only means that the poster is just lazy and does not want to exert a little effort to really "discuss". So, NO. I wouldn't answer a single line.:(

Yes, i respond to one liner discussions. I like responding to them because i find it easier to respond to since it is very straight to the points. And I dont like to read so I would respond to few liners as much as possible.

I've done that a few times but I've always tried to give proper answers, so to speak (as in, even if the question is only one line, I try to post longer responses explaining my point and such)... but then again, you're right: if those discussions end up getting deleted by myLot I guess it'll end up affecting me negatively too, since my posts will get deleted and maybe even get a bad rating... so I'll keep that in mind and not reply to those one-line topics anymore. Thanks for the tip! :)
