How do people know your family when they see them? Anything distinctive that you

all do or do you look-a-like or what? My immediate family, we all wear tie-dye when we go somewhere. Why? We went to a fair one time and we couldn't find each other becausse white t-shirts and jeans seemed to be the outfit of the day. But when we wear tie-dyes, we have no problem finding each other. Also tie dye clothing we all like it and it's cheap to buy or easy to dye. My husband's family, everyone knows them because they have extremely light blue eyes. My girlfriend's family, they all have hazel eyes, same Mother, but many different Fathers, yet they still have those eyes. My Dad's family, his sisters and parents, their jaws. Really forward jaws, good thing we didn't inherit the jaws. So what about your family? How do people know them?

My daughter and I both have long brownish red hair. She wears alot of purple and I wear alot of pink. We are about the same size. She acts a certain way and I do too so it is easy to pick us out of a crowd. We are rarely apart when we go some place anyway so it isn't often that we would get seperated. No, my grandson is a different matter. But we know what he likes and can usually find him in certain departments. That is a good thing to think about though.

Yes, good that there are two of you to keep track of him. Kids can skidadal (spelling?) in a heartbeat. I don't know how many times I had to go help find kids at PetSmart. An adult would pick up something to look at and the kid would take off. I got so I watched for it and blocked the kid off saying loudly, "Does the adult you're with know you're going somewhere?" I heard a lot of "GET BACK here NOW! Where do you think you're going?" and "Thanks, s/he doesn't usually take off." A kid sees a fish, a puppy, a cat, a bird, something they like out of the corner of his/her eye and kid's gone.

In most stores, esp. little stores, it's knives. We had one little store with knives at kid level. Shiny, kids grab them and try to open them. Because of 911, most stores lock them in cases now.Thank goodness, I was forever saying, "Does s/he know you've got a knife?" Most parents thanked me. One started screaming at me, "How dare you speak to my child like that! For all I know, you probably gave the kid the knife so he could hurt himself." I asked to see the store manager and told him that unless he wants knives stolen and/or someone stabbed to put those things somewhere else. Pawn shops and places with a brain in their heads have them in a display case at the register so that only the clerk can get at them. Some people, why woulld you put knives at the height of a 4 year old?

I have never had that happen but I certainly agree with you. Just not thinking.

nope, we look related, but then again, there's a gal in town who looked more like me than my sister - they even shared a name!

There was someone who looked like she could be my sister at school (I don't have any sisters). I asked my parents about her, she was a cousing of mine.

Our kids all have blue eyes like myself. My husband has brown eyes. Two of the 3 are blondes like myself. The oldest is darker and has a little darker complexion like my husband but basically the girls and I look alike especially around the eyes.

So probably the eyes. I have cousins that in one family, everyone has a different hair color, blond, brunet, red head, auburn, you name it. Another set of cousins (due to lots of marriages) with every skin color from light to almost black. I've noticed that when those variables are all different, something in the face is telling, be it eyes, noses, jaw, cheekbones, something. My Dad's all different hair and skin family, it was the jaws and noses. Everyone had forward and big jaws, the noses all had a bump in the middle, mild for the girls, but major for the boys. My girlfriend's family all had different fathers and yet every single one of them had hazel eyes. Thanks for your response and take care.

hmmm nice questions / discussion. actually my family don't look like each other...we all look differently, except for me and mother, we have a lot of similarities , facial features i mean... but i think one thing we have in common is that we all talk the same, meaning, we have that distinctive sound when we're talking and you just know, that that is a member of the family..... another in common we have, is that we love to eat.

So if they hear you talk and see you eat, they know it's the kquiming family. Got it. Some families don't look alike. Mine doesn't, that's why the tie-dyes work well for us.Thanks and take care.
