I know for a fact that i posted alot of letters together and i have discovered that the people that i sent the letters to have not recieved them, only found out today,as io have been waiting for money to be returned to me,they needed proof of who i am,so i sent it.The letters were posted in a village post box,so my mum rang the post office to ensure that the post box was still in use and that these letters were not still in the post box.Now got to claim off the Royal mail, they need to investigate where these letters are aswell,as there was important info in there aswell as private information.

That's not good huh?? IMagine all the private and personal information in the letters? We are lucky if there are nice people whom returned it to us via post. IF not, when those letters were to fall into the wrong hands, it could spell serious trouble. It's better that u make a police report on those missing letters, rather than depending on the post office again

Hiya jugs,
Over here before when I lived in another Flat my Letters started to be opened all the time. I never got to know if it was someone who lived in our Doorway or if it was someone who worked in the Post Office over here.
When I moved it all stopped and my letters always reached their destinations after that. I lost three friends because they said I did´nt answer their letters when in fact I did but their replies never got to me.
Hope it gets sorted out for you. I have always found the Royal Mail to be the best Post much better than this one here although they have improved a bit.

I have a lot of trouble with my mail as well. My address is Rear, and my neighbor in the front is always getting my mail and vice-versa. One time someone on the other end of town got my mail. It was a check and she contacted me and gave it back! It was for a large sum to help pay my taxes and I was glad she went to the trouble of tracking me down! Another year, another neighbor a few houses up got the same tax rebate check. There have been quite a few times that people have said they have mailed me something I never recieved. So you are not alone! in The US has problems with the mail also.

I think Royal mail/ Parecelforce are pretty much a law unto themselves. I've lost letters, had mail for totally different post codes, parcels go missing. One parcel I sent weighed about half what I do. The idiots threw it in the warehouse and caused £35 damage!
Our street has no regular postie, so our mail is delivered on overtime!

When that happens, it's the fault of postman then. Since they are the ones to collect bags of mails from post box, so it's likely they might have one of the bags while loading them onto the van. If not, i can't find any other reasons as to how all the letters in the post can be lost on the same day. It's best to make a police report rather than complaining to the office about it.

I am guess that "Royal Mail" is Britain's "Postal Service", right? Well, it's easy to lose mail. My brother's student aid check got lost in the mail and he had to go back to the university, report it, and they had to cancel the check that was sent out, and they had to send him a new one. It was major nightmare.

Good luck with claiming against the PO. I had to go to the Postal Ombudsman to get the PO to cough up compensation for a lost insured package. Phone calls were never returned, and every time that I phoned them I talked to a different person who caimed to know nothing about it but they'd have someone to call me back about it - they never did.
I also sent numerous letters which again were ignored. Of course, I complained about all this to the ombudsman, but while I did eventually, (after about 9 months of this) get my compensation, I never got so much as a word of apology for the way that I'd been treated. Needless to say, I'll never use the Post Office insured service again!

I can understand a letter here and there over the years getting misdelivered or lost, as they are only human, but when they loose whole bunches of mail on the same mailing this to me is incompetance. Humans do make mistakes and transpose numbers and misdeliver the mail, when it gets in the wrong box most people will stick it back in the box for the post office to try again. I'm sure though that there are others that simply toss it in the trash, this would be why it never is found or redelivered. I too over the years have had bills not get to the sender, one post office in particular was very bad, in a 3 year period they lost 4 of my bills they never turned up at the intended sender, nor ever made it back to me. What happened to them I have no idea. Complaining to the post office did no good for me. I wish you luck.

Wow! I hope they can be traced. I usually send my important mail with insurance. Here in the US you can send the letter(s) and you receive a receipt that you can go online and track the letter. Do you have that sort of thing there? If so I would definitely use it in the future.

I think that the Royal Mail are starting lose credibility as a company! I'm not too happy with the service I receive from them and there are times when I have accessed my mail and I have noticed that the envelope has been partially opened at the side! Who did this? This is telling me that there are a few culprits working within the Royal Mail that like to take their chances! There was even a news story in relation to this about how certain members of Royal Mail staff were secretly opening mail and stealing cash and vouchers and the like!
I suppose we have to put up with them though as they are at the forefront of delivery services at the present time. Despite the problems and difficulties I think that the Royal Mail still has a lot of loyal customers and whilst this remains the case they will be at the top of the list or first choice for delivery services. Maybe they should check out the postman. Sometimes they go weird and take the mail home with them.

If the whole bunch went missing, then the mail bag must have either misplaced, or have gone to the wrong destination. It takes a while for these to be returned. If it is the odd letter, then it is likely that it went into the wrong person's mail box and for some reason not returned to the PO.

Hi. jugsjugs. I am not so sure. I do know that the post office is responsible for making sure that they send the letters to the correct address. Lately my husband's mail has been going to his mom's address. It is really strange. It has our P.O. Box address written on it, but yet the posy office delivers the mail to his mom's address. We don't have the same address at all. I don't know what is going on with the post office, but they should make sure that they are delivering the mail in the correct mailbox. I hope that you get this all straightened out soon. I am sorry for the terrible mix up.

I have a small business 'helping' Santa write personalised laeeters and the RoyalMail is my main problem.
I have my own franking system soo I know all the postage is correct but SO many go missing, it costs me a fortune resending them!
The year before last a pile I posted in a little village post office as well as all my family Christmas cards went missing - it was a nighty mare!

While usually the mail is very good and dependable, anything can happen to a bag of mail that is picked up. It does happen that a whole bag of mail is misplaced or lost. It may all show up at some future date.
