Is having a matching bed set important for you?

Okay, so this is something me and my fiancee discuss a lot: I think it is very important that all parts of the bed match, including the sheets, the pillow cases, etc. So I always make the bed with matching sets. My fiancee does not care about this as much, so sometimes I makes the bed with stuff that really doesn't match. It always annoys me a lot, which he does not get at all. How do you feel about this? Do you always go with a matching, cool bed, or do you not care about it matching or not?

When I was younger I don't think the sheets matched the comforter, though I can't remember some of the comforters I have, I do remember seasame street or some other character sheets. It seems the bed I slept on at my grandmother's was always made with blue sheets, or the other bed had white and orange and brown I think? The comforter didn't always match. I was actually thinking about this the other day, I guess it wouldn't matter to me if it didn't really match, but it just seems more comforting to lay in a bed with everything matching. Our comforter set we picked out now even matches our wall, and a sheet set we were gifted matches the comforter.

Yes, I also find it comforting to have a nice, matching set. IT also calms me down for some strange reason!

I can understand that. Of course colors play a roll too, I've heard that certain colors are more calming.

I like my set to match I just feel like it looks nicer and it makes the whole room look nice, my boyfriend doesn't care at all though as long as he had a blanket he wouldn't even care if there was no sheet on the bed or pillowcases on the pillows. Actually that's how his bed was when we didn't live together it'sgross if you ask me. Matching sets are much nice and neater looking I also like to make the bed most d ays so it is nice when you climb into it at night and so the room looks nice durring the day with the bed made even if noone sees it.

Boys are like that sometimes, I guess. Thank god they have girls around to set them straight, haha! I also think it looks much nicer when you put some efforts into making the bed...

I've never even thought of it to be honest lol. My wife handles that kind of thing. I suppose that maybe since it doesnt matter to him and he knows that it does to you, I guess he should try his best to make sure the stuff matches if he is making the bed.

Yes, I think most men are like you, so no need to get embarrassed about that! :)

Like you, I make sure that everything matches. I do not like sheets or pillow covers that do not match with the spread. If I do not find completely matching sheets and all, I try to arrive at a color coordinated pattern.

But, the best part is, you feel so nice about the arrangement. You get real nice thoughts and a very fitful sleep.

Yes, it helps me relax better too if the bed looks real nice. And I honestly think it makes the bed a bit of a more enjoyable place to me. I am weird like that I suppose :) But it's nice to know that I am not the only one who thinks this way. So thanks for your reply, I appreciate it!

With the economy the way it is, i buy whatever is on sale and fits the beds that I have. I try and keep a neutral cream on the spare bedroom bed because that matches the quilt in that bedroom. I tend to have pink sheets on my bed, and that really does not match the yellow(gold), green and blue striped comforter. I really do not worry about it.

Yes, going for neutrals is a great way to keep everything organized and easily matched. So I do agree that this is a great way to go!

Well, he does not mind me matching stuff, I buy matching sets and most of the time I make the bed, so then there is no problem. But sometimes he makes the bed, and he really does not pay attention to matching stuff at all. So this is the main problem to be honest. But I guess it can be easily solved if I just start making the bed every time instead. So it is not such a serious issue in my case, it is just interesting to me how boys do not see these things at all!

I think a bed that has matching sheets and pillow casess looks a lot nicer than mis-matched sheets. I also like to match my quilt cover or comforter to the sheets so that the whole effect is unified and all tied in together. The whole effect makes the bedroom look very inviting. I'm fortunate that my husband feels the same way - a lot of men couldn't care less what sheets they have on the bed!

I agree! And I would say that you are indeed lucky to have a hubby like that! I think it is pretty rare!

I think that it is very important that the pillow cases match the duvet cover. I have got a duck egg colored striped duvet cover with matching pillow cases. I have got a plain white sheet. Underneath this I have a memory form matress toper. This makes my bed much more comfortable. I am happy with my bedding. Matching colors and patterns for me are essential.

oh chuck it out what difference does it make as to weather it is matching or not as long as the person you share the bed with matches or is to Ur taste.I always have this tussle with my mother in law she is crazy about matching things.god knows how many times we must have fought over her so called sets.now i have left it .i have many other important things than to fight or theses flimsy arguments.hope you too take in your stride and let your partner breathe

Thanks for your input! We don't really argue about it too much, but I guess you have a point. I will think about it, for sure!

I like a specific type of comforter because of its comfort not for it's look although when I buy a new one I usually try to get it in white so it will match whatever. I try to match the pillow cases to the sheets, but we use so many pillows between my husband and I that they don't all match. It is not like people are looking in my bedroom anyways. Our bedroom m is on the upper level and we shut the door if we are having a party. Our bedroom is for our comfort, not for other people's viewing. The lower level of the house matters more to me.

I know that it probably looks more fashionable and traditional to have a matching bed set. It really doesn't matter that much to me if it matches or not. If i like how it looks, that's all that is pleasing to me.

The thing is, you have the attitude or what we can say sickness of the mind of being obsessive compulsive. you like the things in order. If things are in order, your mind is also in order.

Yes, I think I have these tendencies a bit. A lot of people do I think. It helps me feel good if everything is organized, I won't deny that!

On my bed, I would like to have matching sheets. It doesn't always work out that way though. My kids used to always have a matching set. My son had cars and my daughter had pooh bear. My son likes scooby doo and dragons from how to train your dragon, he likes pooh bear too. So now, since he is 3, and he wants to help because he is a big boy, his bed never matches. Not any more. He will have it all on his bed. My bed matches most of the time. We wash our sheets ever week and if my husband makes the bed, it never matches. It used to bother me but after a while, I got over it. Kids will be kids and so will men. lol
