I hope y'all find this funny but it is facts for me anyway. What made me think of this was when i was cutting my hooves, i mean toe nails. Now why is it they get so thick & ugly as u get older? then there's your hair that has to get ugly & thineer & mine was bad enough as it was. By all means don't forget the boobies that are hanging down on your stomach, omgosh what a beautiful sight. Then there's all these broken veins in your legs from standing on your feet for 47 years trying to make a living. My son said about my grandmother when he was little that she had straights[wrinkles] in her face, well i have straights to now. WOOHOO.Oh, i can't forget the flabby upperarms. What happened to my muscles??. I want mention all the pain u have from whatever ails u.. AHHHH, the golden years. Can u relate to what i'm saying?

When I was eight years old, I asked my grandmother what the spots on her arms were. Well, I got a slap on the leg for that, from my dad (it was his mother). I had no idea what liver spots were!

I don't think she minded either. She just laughed. It was my dad who got offended. He was really strict when we were younger.

I can relate to your narrative. I have wondered as to why we have to get both weak and ugly when we get old. I keep telling myself that my face is becoming interesting, not ugly. As to the rest of my body, I'll just keep that hidden. Perhap0s God planned it that way so that we will look forward to the end of this life instead of dreading or fearing it. Still, I wish I could be more like Joshua who at 85 was as strong as he had been at 20.

I thought it was just my toe nails. As for the boobies, there's a name for that - chest in drawers disease. And why is my darn hairline receding? I want bangs, dang it! No, I can't relate...

Well im not too old yet but I sure feel like it. I take care of the elderly in their homes so I definately know what you mean. They show me pictures of when they were young and they were beautiful. Now it is all exactly how you say it. I look at my mother and I know how I will look in my older years. I look like her now from when she was younger. The joys of getting old.

The knees that loudly complain when forced to bend... (My! doesn't that sound poetic!) Don't forget the shrinking... and widening... not a pleasant thought.

That sounds so familiar..but yes I am starting to show most of what you described here. It is hard to combat the signs of aging. Everyday when I look at the mirror I see a haggard old lady starring back at me. My hair is not only thinning but gray hairs are starting to sprout out . My upperarms are flabby and shoulders are thick and round. Wrinkles are presently well under-control and is not so obvious but I don't like to see my once firm and oval face dropping. Aging has really taken a toll on our physical looks followed by bodyaches. I guess all the nuts and bolts are starting to loosen out as we age. In a few months time we will be in another year which means a new number added to our age. Hopefully, we can maintain good health throughout our golden years. Nevermind about the wrinkles and gray hairs as long as old age diseases don't come chasing after us.

For sure! LOL.....the part I hate is the bad aching knees....used to be so active and now I can hardly walk a block without so much pain...and did you forget our teeth fall out? Oh....we can get replacements for those though! Still we are above ground and not six feet under so I guess we should be happy!

I do relate! These days everything is either shrinking or heading south! It is kind of freeing in a way because I don’t place as much emphasis on looks as I did when I was younger! My dad has problem cutting toe nails, doing up shoe laces etc. so don't worry you're not alone...

I think we will all go through those 'unsightly' physical changes as we grow old. It's part of the lifecycle. The key is just to learn to love yourself - flabby arms and legs with varicose veins and all. It's just a matter of perspective. If you learn to love and accept those imperfections, other people will respond to it the same way -- they will appreciate and accept them as well. That's what we call the aura of growing old gracefully. It seems that no matter how much a person has aged, we still see a certain glow in them. For lack of a better and more realistic example, take the case of older Hollywood stars like Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Sean Connery and the like. We see their wrinkles, we see their flabs --only cushioned by some amount of lighting and make-up, but it's still quite obvious. Yet somehow, these middle aged stars still exude appeal and sexiness in their own unique way. So, be happy, love your journey towards the golden years.
