why is it when you get a new job the person who has been there for a little while gets all mad. i dont get it. i was glad to have a job but not aggrevation to go with it. usually its the supervisors but now its a co worker.. she seems crazy. shes only 28. she has a kid and an ex who i guess was abusive. she keeps saying how her job cant get rid of her cause of her situation. meaning her domestic violence case. its so weird. she takes time off and she dont even have time to take. the bosses are really pissed and then she comes in late all the time. to help her out they gave her a reduction in her hours but shes still late. then when she comes in to work shes always trying to find things i do wrong in. my supervisors says this girl comes up to her and says she dont like the fact that i have a newer car and that i have time since i was a past state worker. well its my time i have accumulated. then she gets mad that the supervisor is training me when she is off. but how else am i suspose to learn. when i tried to learn she was like scatter brain. i tried talking to her and trying to be nice about how she is treating me but it goes in one ear and out the other. she is ok for a day then switches. lately she has been telling the boss crazy stuff like she is scared of me and that she thinks i wanted to hit her one time when i was talking with her about work. i was asking her how to do a job i was not mean or evil. as far as i knew it was told to me if there was an issue to go and ask lots of questions. since this i have been going to my supervisor. now the girl is calling out sayng her daughter is sick and has no time. shouldnt they fire her. i asked my boss what was going on cause its affecting my work of her not being in. she says she got close to this girl and that she feels bad but dont know what to say cause this girl does not take her critiscism or talking. she always is very defensive. this girl ran over the work kitten and tried to play it off cause she was late from coming back to lunch. my boss was heartbroken.
what should i do... i fell like im in a bad situation. i dont want to lose my job but this girl is just crazy....

All kinds of reasons come to mind. They may have self esteem problems and feel that they are being undermined and that this person is going to take over their job. Also, some have to train the new person and is responsible for them whether they want to be or not. And they want to be the better employee so they may act angry. Jealousy may even lend into it. And preferential treatment may make them mad too.

thanks celticeagle great response. i did lose my job due to there shannanigans but i am doing well i am full time student and getting my 2nd degree so last laugh is on them... i really didnt think people could be that rotten especially at work but now i learned not to trust others thats for sure... thanks again.

wow.. i didn't know such thing could happen. Great but sad to hear you have to deal with someone like her. Again the management needs to take action to eliminate her with evidence. But they have to be careful with a person like her if they would want to terminate her. Yes you need to tolerate her because I bet everyone is tolerating with her attitude. Keep sane. All the best =)

yeah i lost the job and currently unemployed guess they got there way.. gotta love how others can affect your life but i appreciate the great response. i have decided to get another degree tht will make me a little better when getting hired so it all workd out in the end. thanks again..;
