What was the very first cellphone model and brand that you bought? Could you describe the appearance of the unit? What year was it then? What were it's features? How much was it then? Do you still use it today, still functioning? Cellphones are really not very old gadgets, I think they started to gain popularity in the 90s. But since then, it has changed so fast, multiplied brands and models, so now it comes in all shapes, sizes, functionalities... Just curious. Mine was the Nokia 5110, and mind you it's the most expensive cellphone I ever bought, to date. I've had other phones after this, yet this was the heaviest in my pocket that I really spent for.

A pleasant day Hippiemomdiaries, With reference to your query, I remember those times when I really really need to save a lot just to buy a new handy phone. Since during that time, the price of handy phones are really too high. At first, I am trying to choose between two brands - motorola and nokia 5110 - I cannot remember the model number of the motorola that I owned previously. The only thing I remember was, though I really like nokia 5110 during those times, I was not able to bought due to its high price. For this reason, I chose motorola. So that was my first handy phone. However, I already changed my handy phone unit now. I go for nokia phone now a days.

Motorola was the very first phone i bought and it was analogue and then a year after I bought the same model but it was digital. Then I bought a smaller and cute phone that has a colored casing, Bosch. The next cellphone I got was a Nokia 6150 which i had to buy from Hong Kong because it wasn't available yet in the Philippines and was cheaper there. I got those phones from 1998-99 and at that time Nokia 6150 was the most expensive which i bought only for 8000pesos in Hong Kong. All of the phones that I used in the 90's were all long gone. Threw them all away.

Nokia 5310 XpressMusic - The Nokia 5310 is an XpressMusic mobile phone, released in the fourth quarter of 2007. It is less than a centimeter thick and is available with blue, red, purple, pink, orange, silver or black trim, the main body also being available in grey, black or white. It is currently available in the U.S. through T-Mobile and in Canada through Rogers, in the UK through Vodafone, O2, Orange and T-Mobile. It features many music specific features as well as a 2.0 megapixel camera. At 9.9mm thick, it is one of few mobile phones measuring less than 1cm thick. It is the lightest phone nokia have produced at 71g
The very first model that I bought was a Nokia 5310 XpressMusic. Its a bar phone with some buttons on the side just along the screen. I bought it on December 6, 2009. With the XpressMusic models, it obviously plays music but, it can also take photos and capture video. The price was around Php 7,000 or so and fortunately, it is still functioning and being used by the one that I gave it to even though she had already dropped it a couple of times. (^_^ )

I bought my first cell phone back in January of 1989, for my birthday. That's when phones were still bulky & shaped like a brick & also they were all analog phones. I don't even remember the model number of it. I bought it while I was working at Radio Shack. I don't remember it having a lot of features at all. Matter in fact, only thing I could do on it was make & receive calls.

I had bought my first cell phone before 5 years. And it was LG RD5340 Model. Yes it was Reliance mobile which is the best cellular company in my country and always provides cellular services in very cheap rates. So this was my first cell phone.

My first cellphone was Nokia 1112. My father bought it for me three years back in 2007. I still use it. It is lowest version of Nokia with only the basic features and it cost only less than Rs.1500. But I like it best, though I have other phones.

My very first phone that I or rather my aunt bought was a nokia 3310. It was about 5,000php. It doesnt cost much that time though because newer models were already produced. My aunt bought a cellphone worth 15,000 which has an antenna that time and the screen was really small. Prices comes less and less when there are newer models that are coming. Now you can buy a cellphone worth 1,000php and even much lesser. I can really imagine how much more it will change in the next couple of years. The cellphone was I think one of the groundbreaking developments in history. That 3310 I bought was long gone. But I have used it for a couple of years though. I can text with it and make some calls. I can also make a ringtone out of it. It helped me communicate with family and friends...

My very first cellphone was a Philips Savvy, which my mum bought for me in 2000. It had a tiny dot-matrix type screen and could only be used for phone calls and text messages. I think there might have been a very basic game on there too, but I can't remember what it was. Here is a picture of it: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exBk0lN4xa8/SkafT_rlkwI/AAAAAAAAAX4/JwsO-5f3y0k/s400/philips-savvy.jpg

Hi, The first cellphone I bought, actually it was my mom who bought it for me, was Nokia 3210. We bought it for almost 10 thousand and my first provider was Smart Telecom, I even had smartmoney that works as a debit card. The fone was bit heavy but durable. I can still see some of it in the market now and it made me remember my first fone.

Hi there! My first cellphone was the same as yours. A Nokia 5110. My parents bought me that phone as a reward for being the top student of my class. It was indeed expensive during that time and so bulky. I had that phone for almost two years then I had other phones after that as well. I still have it here with me though but it does not work anymore. I am still thankful because I have a lot of great memories with that phone.

Actually, I was just forced to buy a cellphone way back 1999 because of my friends. That's why I'm not that particular with the future. What important for me then is something I can use for emergencies. I have with me my Sony Ericsson K700i, I think was phased out long back, but I think I was the first to have it when it was launch, so this is expensive for me then. I also had Samsung then. But it is not important what brand or I even get particular with its features. What important for em is that I have something to use when it is needed. Cheers

My first phone was a gift from my parents. It was a Nokia 5110i, I was 11 that time. It could call and text and had that little antenna on the right. It was not that small and was not thin. It had games such as Snake and Logic which was fine for me. I think it still is stored somewhere in the house. I saw it a couple of months back and it was still functioning. Since then , I've had 8 phones. =D
