Do You Talk In Your Sleep?

Something funny has just happened. Well, we all know how hard my hubby works so I forgive him when he falls asleep downstairs a couple of hours before he goes to bed. Just now he murmured something so I looked round and noticed that he still had his eyes shut. He'd mentioned "rooms" and "Bruce Grobelaar" all in the same sentence. It was hilarious. I said, "Why are you going on about Bruce Grobelaar?" and he mumbled something else lol. He's gone back to sleep now. Do you talk in your sleep or have a partner that does this?

He must have a very active brain! lol, I have talked, walked, and also sometimes have sleep paralysis, I never have a good nights sleep my brain is always keeping me up and it's kinda annoying, I just think it has something to do with how our brains work and people who talk and sleep walk and what not have active brains! lol

I have had sleep paralysis (twice in one week) but haven't had it since. I can honestly say it was the most frightening experience I've ever had.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't talk or walk in my sleep, but my Mom and nephew informed me earlier this week I snore. But then I knew that because I've woke myself up snoring... (Mom also says I hold my breath between snores...)

Wow, it's a wonder you're still with us (and I'm glad you are) and my Dad does the same, actually. Holds his breath. I don't think he snores as much now than when he was younger but I don't live there now so he could be rattling the whole house with noise for all I know!

My Dad did the same. The Doctors eventually put him on oxygen at night to sleep. Maybe that's what I'll be looking forward to in the future?

I've shouted out loud in my sleep a few times..and I've had that feeling of falling or tripping up and my legs fly about in the bed, then I wake up. Very strange!

Haha, that's pretty funny. I talk in my sleep ever now and then. My boyfriend tells me that I usually am saying "No" or "I don't want to". I'm not sure what it is I am dreaming about but must not be something good!Lol.

Haha! I like it. I've heard myself go "aah" in my sleep as though I'm in pain, then I wake up. No idea what that's about!

According to my wife, I tend to say just an odd word in my sleep now and again, but if she is awake enough to question me, I will answer questions quite clearly. So I guess I had better be careful at what I get up to! At my age though it is probably wishful thinking... On second thoughts I didn't just say that!!! _Derek

I know what you mean. When I asked John why he was talking about Bruce Grobelaar, he said (in his sleep) "I don't know why I am talking about Bruce Grobelaar!" Haha!

I have been told that I sleeptalk, but unfortunately I can't check if it's true or not, as I'm sleeping I think that many people talk in their sleep. For example, I know this person who doesn't only talk in her sleep, but she will even shout as if she was having a conversation with someone. Well, that's what she was told, as she was sleeping and can't remember it either

i don't talk in my sleep but my mom and brother does. They would murmur about their work or about someone and they sound worried. I guess somethings bothering them so i try to wake them up and tell them to just get back to sleep. It bothers me too and makes me worry.

Well, I suppose it's better than bottling it up, which is probably what they do in their conscious world. I wouldn't worry too much about it my friend.

I can't remember myself talking while in sleep but the one you encountered is definitely funny. yes, there are people who tends to talk while sleeping and sometimes when you ask questions he will answer you with the right one. I don't know what's the explanation of this but our mind are still open to respond sometimes to our surroundings.

LOL! I talk in my sleep and not only that I cry in my sleep too. Usually I talk about gibberish, something that cannot clearly be understood. Sometimes I scream and kick a lot too when I'm dreaming something that involves fighting and arguing. Other people might find it funny but i'm wondering if this is some kind of a disease.

I wouldn't say it's a disease but I do know someone who has to sleep in a padded room due to thrashing about in his sleep. I can't see you being as bad as that though.

Since I share a bed with my sister, she's the only person who knows what goes on during my sleep. She told me I was sleep talking. But, that's a long time ago (when I was still 12 or 13). But now, she never mentioned anything about me talking in my sleep anymore. I'm 20 now by the way.

i heard of this before in china and you can get idea how hard chinese students study english: one hard working student murmured the word "revolution" during her sleep, and her roommate who was still awake asked her: how to spell? the roommate meant to joking but she heard the "sleeping beauty" pronounced each letter loudly: r-e-v-o-l-u-t-i-o-n....

That's brilliant, I love it! Like you say, the Chinese work very hard at their English. Puts us to shame with our lack of language skills.

Yes, I do talk in my sleep. My husband has told me that I do talk in my sleep. He has told me about some of the things that I have said while I was asleep. It's kind of funny.

Well being single I don't know if I speak in my sleep or not. But in the past I have had partners who have spoken in their sleep and it's always something completely and utterly random which they have no idea about when they wake up.

Yes I do! Usually when I am upset. I also thrash about and am banished from the bedroom almost instantaneously. Talking in sleep usually happens during REM(Rapid Eye Movement) phase of the sleep. The time when dreams occur. Because the body is not in deep sleep, the reaction to these dreams or whatever that is bothering people may cause the talk and involuntary movement. Sadly sometimes this "Pillow talk" gives out some secrets and people land in trouble. Glad to see you in your element.

I've been told I snore too and there's me thinking I was perfect in every way lol. I have heard myself laugh out loud, therefore waking myself up but this doesn't happen very often, thankfully.

I do talk in sleep but not often. Or maybe i did but no one notice. There was once my sister told me i sang in my sleep and I don't remember what I dream about. I have a friend who is known as sleep talker, she not only talk in her sleep but she also scold people in her sleep, especially her siblings. This happened few years ago when we are young and she is married now, hopefully she don't have this habit anymore.

We know a guy who has to sleep in a padded room because he throws himself about. There is more understanding with sufferers nowadays but I should imagine it wasn't the case a few years ago.
