I would just use my favorite sugar free yogurt and blend it with favorite frozen fruit. For instance, you could use a container of sugar free strawberry banana yogurt and put it in the blender with a frozen banana or strawberries or both. Use vanilla yogurt, 2T. peanut butter and one frozen banana. Can add a tablespoon full of cocoa powder (not mix, but baking cocoa) I add flax seed meal to everything as it improves the nutrition and it also adds fiber which will help slow your digestion.

These are good ideas and I have written them down. I'm wondering where do you get flax seed? I have found in the frozen fruit section the frozen cherries and strawberries and a few others like pineapple and love the cherries ! and do eat them with Splenda. Things get boring ya know? I am doing ok with all this but really breakfast is a hard meal for me cuz I love bacon and eggs that are both too high in fat, cholesterol and sodium I have been told to cut back on fat, salt, and sugar now....dah? so, I'm having a hard time getting all the nutrition values in order. By the way as a diabetic how does one measure grams ? thanks for this info. hugs quita

Our super Wal Mart has flax seed or flax seed meal in the vitamin section, but they also have it already ground in the baking aisle. It is cheaper if you can get it in the baking aisle. Before I could get it ready ground I would buy the seeds at a health food store and grind it in my coffee grinder. I like stevia (Truvia is one brand) as a sweetener because it is not artificial, it is a plant. Some people think it costs too much, though. If you need to change ounces to grams remember that there are about 28-29 grams to an ounce. You can find ounce to gram converters online. Some people have an app for that on their cell phones. You can get a good "Eggbeater" product that is egg whites with southwest seasoning in it with peppers and onions, and make an occasional omelet. Use Canadian Bacon for your meat. Good luck on this food thing.

I didn't get this response............ I will check out the flax seed at Walmart tomorrow as the dr. never did call in my meds today, so we will have to go back tomorrow. I have both Truvia and Splenda and regardless of the cost, I want my foods to taste good. I haven't gotten too far on the grams but have written down the calculation you have sent here. I read on my regualar box of egg beaters there is a flavored kind. That is still another thing I have to check out. Never thought of Canadian Bacon either ! Wow I love that stuff ! Ah I am getting a lot of info here !! I am trying really hard to pay attention and watch my sugar levels. I want to thank you so much for all this info. God bless, quita

I just love my fat free flavoured yoghurt, skim milk and a banana or strawberries or whatever fruit you have around. There might be too much sugar in that for you though. I would add wheat germ for fibre, over here, wheat germ is available in the supermarket in with the cereals. Bon apetite!

We have flax seed here for the my heart as well as fiber. I too have learned about yogurt and milk and fruit since this discussion started. I haven't had many responses(2) including yours.. but I've done my own "googling !" I am not sure about the sugar content but with me just being border line diabetic now, I don't think I have to worry too bad. I have an apt . with my dr in two weeks and we will see then. Thanks for the info and you have a nice day!

My favorite is to throw 2 kinds of fruit in a blender with frozen strawberries and some milk, maybe powdered.. Yummy!

I love to make smoothies for breakfast. I don't follow any recipe but make up my own. I use some Greek yogurt and sometime cottage cheese. I usually start with the yogurt then a banana and any frozen other fruit I have on hand. I find the fruit to be sweet enough for me. I have also added cooked steel cut oats and sometime nuts. I haven't tried any veggie smoothies but will soon. You might try turkey bacon or turkey sausage to replace the pork. I like it just as well if not better.

These are great ideas ! I never would have thought about oats or nuts, but I will trying these ideas in the morning. I had a response from another member and she told me to use sugar free yogurt and cocoa and fruits and even peanut butter. I have to watch my sugar intake as I've been diagnosed with border line diabetes. But, these are all great ideas and I'll putting them to work and in my tummy !
