Why are there some people who hate it when people post/ask questions heere on mylot, or poll-type questions? Is mylot EXCLUSIVELY just for "relevant discussions" as they say? what counts as relevant anyway? Don't people have the freedom to do what they want here? (well as long as its within the guidelines) Also regarding poll-type question - which so many people respond to and also so many people hate coz its not "relevant" or quality", don't they count as discussions as well? What do you guys think? =)

From the guidelines: Dont's: Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. So what exactly is a poll? It isn't always clear. But a good rule of thumb is how it can be answered. If it is something that can be answered with one or a couple of words, then it is probably a poll. Things like "what is your favorite color?" or What is your favorite pizza topping?" or "what is the most responses you have ever received?" these would all be considered "poll" type discussions.

poll type is not a discussion, for most of the time you will just answer yes or no, or just give a top 5 list of things that was asked. so how can you discuss something like that? discussion needs have someone's opinion just like this one. members who would like to response will be given a chance to say what they want to say and on the other side you can comment back and that is a discussion. if a member only answer yes then how can you comment back on that. any discussion is relevant as long i you can have a discussion.

Their house...their rules. They pay us to post and it says in the rules that these poll type discussions are against their guidelines. Why do people not like them? Well because when you post those types of discussions they take up space meaning we have to sift thru all of those kind of discussions to find ones of substance that we can reply to. If we do respond then our time is wasted because the discussion ends up getting deleted and everyone that responded loses money and time. You bet we hate those discussions. Can't even tell you how many times I tried to be creative with a "what kind of pizza do you like" discussion....waste of time. Yes it really is for relevant discussions.

What I believe why mylot banned the poll-type question is because the answer can be as simple as Yes or No. I myself do not like it when other reply to my discussion with just typing a few words and make me puzzle about that. To be a mylotter, and to be stay long with myLot, one have to be learn to be long winded, or always try to explain things in detail, so that the message can be deliver clearly to others who read it. And that is the quality of the posting. For topics relevance, I do think that it is important since people will look for something they like such as making money, but you post something about parenting in that category, do you think that is appropriate? Do you think people will like it when other find it in there. I myself do not like it when I found a non relevant post in a category. What do you think? I think if it is not to be taken in that way, mylot will end up like a garbage bin, you will find things not in order no one will like it anymore. Just like how you keep your own stuff and categories it according to their type. That's why myLot have to come out with the rules so that mylotter can follow and make other member feel mylot is in order. So what do you think?

I never hate poll-type question. Why should I ? It is considered as a poll-type question just because the way a matter was discussed without further elaboration. It is similar to the responses too. If I think the discussion needs something to add on, of course I shall respond to it.

I think they don't want to pay people for posting "yes" or "no" answers. Then people would start posting discussions like "do you ever get cold?" That sort of thing will not draw search engine traffic and will cost mylot money

sure they do, but Mylot has to be careful. There are far too many people that look for systems to abuse. I don't mind the comment deletions so far. They have only taken a few responses from me. I knew this was going to be an uphill struggle for money pretty quickly.
