Were you able to memorize how many days are there in each month?

I must admit that the only days of the month I have memorized is the month of February. 28 days plus 1 day during the leap year! For the other months, I always get to ask someone or look on the calendar myself to check how many days are there on a specific month... Sometimes I feel so dumb. But sorry. It's just one of those things that can;t stick in my brain! Shame!!! I even remember back in my high school days that one of my teachers made us memorize it. But I forgot if I was able to! Haha How about you?

30 days hath september, april, june and november. all the rest have 31 except February. using your knuckles and the space between your finger count off the months. left pinky knuckle is January, the space between the knuckles is february and so on. The knuckles are all 31 days. I do not know where i learned that useless trick, but there you have it.

This is the same method that I know. I've used that since I was in the elementary grades. The knuckles technique has been passed on to our family members because I know for a fact that I did not learn this in school. The bony part of your knuckle represents the month that has 31 days, while the soft part of the knuckle represent the month which has 30 days, except February. I like this method, I don't get lost or confused with it.

I learned a poem. Thirty days has September, April, June and November, when short February's done, all the rest have thirty one. I find myself muttering this poem when I need to know how many days are in a month. Sometimes I remember right off the top of my head, but not always.

Nice, nice. Where did you learned that poem? I guess I have to write a poem about this on my own and memorize it.. Haha

Yeah, I use the same poem. I guess I learned it in school. I love folklore like that. In fact, I love thumbing through my copy of AMERICAN CHILDREN'S FOLKLORE: A book of rhymes, games, jokes, stories, secret languages, beliefs and camp legends for parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors and all adults who were once children by Simon J. Bronner. It's great inspiration for writing, as well! :O) Sunshine & Blessings, Giovani

I tend to forget, it's quite silly but I just ask my wife who reminds me in her very special way of "you asked the other day". It's just one of those things I seem to forget easily, I can't explain it. Strangely I always remember certain months, easy when one is your birthday.

Lol... Yeah it's nice to know I'm not alone too, next time I ask my wife I'll point out that others probably do the same. (I wonder if the look will be the same) Probably will be. hehe

Hahaha!!! Hope she won't think you're just making it up so as not to receive the same reminder.

Hahaha!!! I can imagine the look on your wife's face while telling you that!!! I have some experiences on that matter as well. I'm glad someone out there is like me. Coz I really feel so dumb thinking that I'm the only one who wasn't able to memorize it! Haha

Hi, I have very simple method my dad taught me. On my hand the knuckles and valleys between the knuckles are months. All the 'mountaintops' are 31 days and all the'valleys' are 30 or in February's case 28, 29 days. Start with your left hand and first finger's knuckle is January and 31 days. Count the months and end with the last knuckle July, 31 days. On your right hand start backwards with August, 31 days, on second knuckle (I mean wedding ring finger knuckle). So counting you end with December, 31 days, on top of the last mountain. Dad taught me that when I was 6 or 7 years old, since then I forgot it and thought the calendar when pictured in 3X4 format is symmertical. Sadly to say I was wrong and I had many arguments with my friends and family, so I had to check. I never liked to be wrong, even with such a little detail so many years ago. Never again though.

Hand. - Fisting hand to remember.
Here is an another way for you. See the picture attached here and keep your hand same. Touch first finger and say january, touch the gape (i mean the black line) and say february. Next finger march, next gape april, next finger may , next gape june, thus u have reached little finger and say july. Now return to first finger and say august. Again continue the months with fingers and gaps. You will reached little finger and say december. Remember all fingers for 31 days and gaps for 30 days except february. Hope it will work for you. Lol.

I did learn it from a poem that I learned when I was in elementary school and because of that poem I don't think that I will ever forget how many days are in a specific month of the year. 30 days has September, April June and November all the rest have 31 except for February which has 28 (and sometimes 29 depending on the given year.) If you are able to remember that poem then you will always know how many days are in each month except that you might get confused during leap year.

There's a little song about the days of the month that i learned in elementary school. Whenever i think i am uncertain about the days in a month, i find myself singing this song. it really does help to remember them this way.

I just memorized with the short forms of the months. Ap-June-Sep-Nov are 30 and the rest 31 with February being an exception. When I have trouble memorizing things like this, I always take the first 2-3 letters of the word and I make a single word from those letters, in the order I have to memorize them. I hope you understand it. Like the word from this months is apjunsepnov. A new word which helps me a lot.

Wow! That's amazing! I guess, you're right. This can be helpful on exams, errr? Perhaps I'm too lazy to memorize that I wasn't able to make any effort of making some ways to memorize it easier like you did. Cool!!!

When my parents were in school this was something they were taught and had to learn. When I was in school they never even tried teaching it to us. My mother used to recite it but I could never remember it. I think after I graduated I finally sat down and read through the poem and memorized it. LOL so I didnt learn it until I was around 18 or so I'm guessing.

Hi invisiblelady! I know I've learnt that in elementary school because we were forced to memorize them. But apart from February with 28 days the other months have been lost from retention since, partly because no else has ever bothered to ask about them. Perhaps age has also caught up. Heehee
