There will be a battle for No 1 spot soon when team India will play South Africa in 3 test matches. After Retirement of Ganguly one spot is vacant In Indian team while rest of the spots are filled until some injury takes place.Raina has done well in limited tests he played but in SA conditions especially in tests he will be seriously tested with short balls and he is likely to struggle .Yuvraj is good when it comes to handling the short ball but is Yuvraj fit and in form to play tests?, then we have new very talented Batsman Pujara who handled short balls well in only test he played but that was a slow wicket and in South Africa ,India will be getting tracks with pace and swing so i am not sure how Puraja will play there. So share your thoughts on which player is best suitable to play at no 6 spot in team India while playing tests in SA.Also which three fast bowlers India can play .Zaheer Ishant and Sreesanth are best choices i think but is there a slim chance that RP Singh having brilliant record overseas especially in SA,Aus and England can get a place in the team or squad?, or may be Unadkat who is new upcoming bowler can be taken to SA to get valuable experience even if he is not playing in final 11.

i give chance to raina more as he is playing consistently. how can you drop him. yuvi will have to score more runs after come back. he should make some big knocks to get his place back. pujara need to wait for long time (wait for some retirement)

It is a difficult choice for the selectors to choose between Yuvraj, Raina and Pujara for the number 6 slot in test cricket in the upcoming test series against South Africa to be played in South Africa. Although only one of the three named is going to make it to the final playing eleven in the normal circumstances, all three should make it to South Africa. The matter has taken significance because the matches will be played on hard bouncy pitches of South Africa and not many Indian players, who are used to slow Indian pitches, have succeeded on these pitches. Nobody can replace Yuvraj singh on fast bouncy pitches when he is in form. His powerful hook and pool works well on such pitches who can forget his six sixes in as many balls from Broad on this very ground. But the problem with Yuvraj is his fitness and not so good record in test matches. As about Raina he got his first opportunity in Sri Lanka when Yuvraj got injured and he made most of it by scoring a century in his first test match. Again who can forget his blistering century scored in just sixty balls against South Africa scoring against the likes of Stain and Morkel in world 20-20 in West Indies. Only problem with Raina is his problem with short balls and on Fast pitches of South Africa he will get them in plenty. As about Pujara, he impressed everybody with his maiden appearance in test cricket against very good balling attack of Australia. But I don't think he stands any chance in preference to Yuvraj and Raina.

For the test matches, Yuvraj definitely is not a great choice. He has been given his chances and he has not taken them. Time for us to try others. I would be interested in seeing Raina perform at South Africa. It is well documented that he succumbs to the short ball treatment and he will get a lot of sweet chin music in South Africa. Next up, Pujara if he gets his chance, would be another interesting player to watch. Remember he is being tipped as a long term replacement for Dravid. If that is the case he has to come to fore in the overseas pitches. So anyhow you look at it, it is going to be interesting watching the series. Cheers! Ram

on current form i think raina is the best pick. raina is a bit susceptible to short pitched bowling but also has the ability to put away the short balls for runs. with gary kirsten as coach they will definitely plan out a strategy to play against the bouncers.

I am a big fan of Raina. Raina is playing well and he is the most Consistent player for India in th recent past. But when Yuvi is in the squad there is a clash between them. I think some permanant players will face some injury and both of them will play(dont wish to see one getting injured). Otherwise Dhoni will rotate these players. RAINA-60% Yuvi-40% I dont see any chance for Pujara. Also Murali Vijay is there....

Yuvi is not a great player at the SA tracks and so I think he can be the last guy around. I would agree to settle for Murali Vijay in the tests he has shown his class during the IPL at SA. So he must be in. But then, Cricket in India is more political these days like many other spheres and so all we can do is hope they dont make a mess here again. Cheers, theSids.

I will say there is competition between 4 players(Yuvraj,Raina,Pujara,Vijay) for No 6 position in team. But I think Raina will get first preference as he has been playing consistent cricket in all forms of the game. It's going to a an important series for India as this will be a battle for No 1 spot in test. Interestingly Raina hasn't played a single test outside subcontinent and his struggle against short ball is well known, so I think selectors might consider Yuvraj who has experience of playing in these conditions. As far as Vijay or Pujara are concerned they will have to wait for their chances. I don't think they will get chance unless some to key players are injured. Competition is not that strong in Indian bowling. Likes of Zaheer,Ishant,Sreesanth are much likely to make in playing 11 with Harbhajan Singh as the lone spinner. Best of luck to India for South Africa series.

I'd say take all the three. We always need standbys. :) Who should be included? :) Draw of lots. :)

Hi, Definitely there will be a battle between the Indian team and South African team. They will play a 3 test match series. The former captain's place is still vacant.Dhoni has been trying many batsmen for that spot. All the three batsmen have special qualities .They play according to their style. The SOUTH AFRICAN pitch is normally a bouncy one.I think Yuvraj and Raina both are fit to play in the test series.Pujara has just started his test career. It will be difficult for him to face against the short balls.Raina can also handle short balls and even Yuvi too.For bowling Zaheer Khan is the best fast pacer for the India team.I think Sreesanth will not be so effective.RP Singh should also get a chance.
