Has you life ever changed suddenly?

Sometimes we are just gliding along and everything seems fine..or at least looking up and then BOOM...life is changed as we know it. Sometimes it is paths that we choose but I also think there are times when a sudden turn in the road of life has a way of leading us and teaching us things that we never thought we would see or learn. I just wonder if your life has changed suddenly? Has there been an unseen path pop up that has lead you away from where you thought you would be? Was it for the good or bad? I like to think that is all for the good but lately I have been wondering...is it always for the good? Hmmm...I still think so but sometimes life's little surprises can make you wonder.

Yes, life's little surprises. Hmmm. Yes, turns in the road of life can definitely teach us things. I also think that sometimes something awful has to happen to us to teach us the road we need to be on. I have had a good job and been thrown off by sickness. Also had a marriage that got into a rut and things went a rye. Life is interesting. And things were going okay with the Tennessee biker until I took things in my hands and blew that all out of the water. Ya, life is interesting.

I am constantly on my toes. You just never know. Just when things are smooth and it looks like it's going to be ok..life says hmmm...let's give em a surprise and spice things up a bit. Thanks for the response.

Sometimes I wonder what is wrong when everything is going well. Isn't that silly?

Not at all....when things are smooth..I am looking up because I know that any moment the bomb will drop. Things have only stayed the same for me for very short time periods. I have this 5 year thing I'll have to tell you about one day..lol..it's silly but it's true.

Well I am sure that a lot of people might say the same but I think the biggest change that happened in my life would be the birth of my children. My whole life had to change when they were born but it was most definately an amazingly great change. Sometime even if sudden and unexpected change can be exactly what some may need.

Sometimes it may be what a person needs. Sometimes it's hard to see it just then though. I'm glad your biggest change was amazing for you. Thanks for responding.

I believe that every one of us have these turns in the road of life in order to help us understand that we are not always in control of what happens in our lives. I remember as a teenager I lost my best friend when she moved due to a change in her family situation and thinking that it was cruel that she couldn't stay where she was. The birth of my daugter was a turning point in my life as I had to realize that life was not about just me anymore. It involved other people and someone that I had to take care of. The same thing happened when my second daughter was born. The day I met my husband was another such day as it seemed that I had my life planned out as a single mother until that fateful day and as I grew to know him and he treated her as his own and I realized that there would be someone else. I believe that we must be on our toes and expect the unexpected occasionally.

I think you are very right about staying on your toes...it is hard to say what things that life will throw at us. It's funny how just when you think it's all planned that life has a little surprise to share..lol..I'm glad that your changes were for the good. Take care.

yes, surprises happen. good or bad, they do come. i've had my share too. with the bad ones, i learn to become stronger and take them as challenges. one should never fear the unknown especially if it's something that's threatening to turn your life upside down. knowing also that your response or reaction to these nasty surprises are going to shape your destiny is very important. so i learned to keep my focus too and never forget what and who are important to me. as for the good ones, i consider them bonuses and learn to appreciate them, lol.

Wonderful words of wisdom! It is hard to deal with sometimes but staying positive and keeping the important things in focus really does shape our destinies I think. I really need a bonus..lol...Thanks for the input!

I guess the biggest thing like this to happen to me was early in 1999 when I found out that I was going to become a parent later that year. It was a bit of a shock as I was not living with my partner at the time. We had split up and were still really good friends and but we were living in different states. We just happened to get very close again when she came to visit on a holiday. She went home and I got on with my life as a single man living with a couple of friends and then I got the phone call! Bang! Life changed forever at that moment! But I am glad it did as it has turned out pretty well. We now are married and the daughter that we had in 1999 is turning 11 in a couple of weeks time. We also have a 9 year old son. They are both great and changed my life for the better!

Sounds like a wonderful and exciting change. I think there are some wonderful changes and some that even save us in one way or another. I think my children saved me. Thanks for responding.

My children saved me also. I used to be a heavy drinker and a bit self destructive. They gave me someone to really love and they showed me their love and how to love myself as a person also.

My children were sent to me at times when I was at my lowest points too. They gave me reason when I didn't have any or know what reason really was.

There have been alot of things happening in my life lately that I believe have all uprooted my regular routine and have caused me to rethink everything that I am doing in my life. I don't think that any of it is for the good, but I am sure that I will learn a life lesson from this.

My life changed drastically on 9/11. After working for the same company for 25 years I lost my job at the World Trade Center on December 31, 2001. Yes I was working at the WTC on 9/11 but by the end of that year the job was gone. I would be still living in New York if it wasn't for 9/11 making a great salary with benefits. I sold my home in NY in 2007 and moved to New Mexico to be with my daughters and granddaughter. Now this year I sold my home in New Mexico and have moved to Puerto Rico. I know none of this would have happened if it wasn't for that deadly day. However, I was able to spend 3 years with my grandaughter enjoying her first years of life which I wouldn't have been able to have if I was still in New York. Nor would I have taken a writing course to learn to write children's books. So I do have alot of good and bad that came about from that day that changed my life suddenly without warning. However, I believe everything happens for a reason and I feel blessed each and everyday for the life I have.

A few years ago, I was living in a different continent, with a good job and young family. One day, I got an email to attend a meeting about a possible job opportunity someplace else. I think I had nothing to do so I went. That very day it was decided that it'll be a good idea that I move. The following day, everything changed in my life that everything I did was in anticipation of the move. A few months later I was here. Just becaust I had nothing to do that day. I think it is for the better, but I'll hold off on that decision yet.

Oh yes it has and more than once. I woke up one morning ready to go to work and found that I couldnt even lift my cup of coffee...it hurt my back just to breathe. Eventually, I had to quit my job as I couldnt go back. I thought it was the end of the world but managed to find something online but I still felt it wasnt fair. Then my husband went on strike and thats when I knew that I had done the right thing and this bad thing that happened to me was actually a good thing. We managed more than well with my job online after I told my boss that I needed to make more money...it saved our house!! Sometimes we dont see the good in what happens right then and there but down the line, then we see it. Hope your bad situation turns out to be a surprise in disguise!!

I don't know my friend...I think that bad turns into more bad sometimes with a glint of gold here and there. Just another way to appreciate the gold sometimes I guess..lol..I guess if it was all gold that we wouldn't even notice it anymore. Anyway...thanks for the response and I hope you have been doing well.

Well, it has, but not in an unexpected way or anything. I moved abroad, to a new country a while ago, and that changed everything for me, for better and worse. But I made the choice myself and prepared for it for a long time, so it wasn't a surprise or anything, obviously. But it had a much bigger impact on me that I would have thought!

Yes Jen, its happened several times to me. The first was when like a bolt out of the blue iwas detected with Muscular Dystrophy 40 years ago.My life changed completely after that. Then the direction of my education changed suddenly when i switched over from science college to architecture. Then for 10 years my life was on a humdrum track as i kept on switching jobs frequently from one to another.Suddenly i was selected by my last company to go and work in one of the Gulf staes wher i was able to earn 10 times more than what i had been earning. Then in that same job my life took a spiritual turn and i went from the materialistic life to the spiritual. When i returned to my country i found my Guru who intitiated me into the formal path of Yoga and meditation, something i had never dreamed would happen in my life.

Life has a way of changing your plans. It happens to me every day in little ways. Just today I was at the mall looking desperately for a new bag but could not find one I liked anywhere and I had been looking for days! Anyway I did my grocery shopping after the bag expedition and when I got home and unpacked it all I realised I had forgotten one item so I jumped in the car and headed to our local store and lo and behold this little Chinese shop that sells clothing and accessories had the perfect bag for the perfect price and I absolutely love it! Now buying a new bag is hardly life changing but it is a small example how life works, things happen when you least expect them sometimes. I would have to say that finding out I was pregnant after six years of trying at a time when I had given up all fertility treatment and moved in a small house built for two was the biggest turnaround of my life, bigger than getting married!

Well, life always changed but, there was one day September 13,2010. That day, my life went totally down and all dark. For several days, I did not eat properly, I did not give notice to others, and I kind of was pissed all the time. Then, one day, I decided to do something, I dieted, I started going to the gym. Now, I am 80% okay. I have started to lose weight and am getting slimmer and slimmer. Though, there was still something missing till to date. I try to have a bright out look. Life does change 24 hours and seven days a week. But you can not really stagnate like that. Life and change is a good thing. I just wish, I could be happy again from time to time.
