I was so embarassed at my sons 3rd birthday party this past Sunday. I picked up his cake at wegmans the night before but with all the food I made I didnt have enough room in the fridge for the cake so I put it in the deep freezer in the cellar and figured if I took it out a few hours before the party it would be thawed and perfect. Well I took it out two hours before it was served but it was still completely frozen :( It didnt taste very good. It was gorgeous and delicious AFTER the party was over and it had finally thawed but during the party the only thing that was good was the cream cheese frosting. The cake was frozen as well as the custard center. Everyone had a good laugh over it though but it was embarassing.
Has something you went to serve guests been frozen? How did people react? Were you really embarassed?

I have not had a frozen issue, but I did purchase a birthday cake from a store one time and who ever made it did not do a good job at mixing it. We cut up the cake and everyone was eating it and nearly all of us bit in to big pockets of flower. It was so disgusting. We ended up throwing the whole thing away and I felt bad for our guests. At least I didn't make the cake so I was able to blame the store for it.

Haha right I wish I had bought the cake and it was frozen instead of me freezing it and serving it to the guests. Then I could blame it on the store instead of my own stupidity lol. That would be horrible having to serve guests cake that had flour all through it. I have made cookies and cake all the time and have never had that happen I cant imagine what they did to make it like that. To bad you didnt take it back to the store and show them what they did and gotten your money back.

Aw I am sure everyone still had a great time, don't worry! I have put chocolate in the freezer before during the summer so it wouldn't melt, and I always forget about it and by the time I crave it, it's too hard to even bite into! I also do it with soda when I forget to put them in the refrigerator the night before...I forget about those too, and then I can't drink them because they're frozen. Either that or the cans explode in the freezer after awhile!

My ex used to buy cans of soda and they wouldnt be cold so he would put them in the freezer for them to chill faster. I swear I cant tell you how many times he did that and they exploded everywhere. What a mess for me to have to clean up lol. Why do you put chocolate in the fridge? I've heard it makes it last longer but I woudlnt want to eat frozen chocolate.

Thankfully, I have not had to serve any frozen food ever.
I was just wondering, if you sliced that frozen cake, and popped it in the microwave, would it have been better? Just not sure if the taste would have changed though.
Belated happy birthday to your son!

I did think about doing that but I figured with the cream cheese frosting that would melt before the custard in the middle even had a chance to thaw and it probably wouldnt taste good that way so lol I served the guests frozen cake and was embarrassed.
