Now it is the season for my favorite apple, the soft, sweet McIntosh apple.
This was the preferred apple when I was growing up, it was my mother's favorite apple.
This apple makes pies and sauces that you don't really need to add much, if any sugar to, they are already so sweet!
They are yummy eaten fresh.
Sadly, because they are so soft, they don't keep as well as those other apples.
I'm trying to get more of them this year than I managed last year. I just love these apples!
I don't care what kind of apple you like, otherwise this would be a poll if I asked what your favorite apple is...
But I can suggest you give a "Mackie" a try, maybe I can turn you into a "Mackie" lover too!
Have you ever tried one? I kid you not, they make the BEST apple pies!

The red & gold delicious are my faves. I like a good tart apple. As the old saying goes, different strokes for different folks. Have a good night.

I'm sure I've tried them since I've had many apple pies over the years. I've never bought them just to eat though.
The one I buy all the time and I know you don't care, haha, is the Golden Delicious, but I will certainly try the McIntosh. I love apples BUT, now don't laugh, I only eat apples with salt on them.
Yeh, I know, I'm weird.
I use to eat the sour green apples when I was a kid and loved those too with salt. It cuts down the sweetness which is what I don't like in apples believe it or not, and the green one's it cuts down the sourness. I figure if that's the only way I can eat apples to get some fruit in me, then so be it.

Yes, I eat watermelon with salt too, lol! I don't normally salt much stuff but there is certain food I just have to salt or I don't like it. Now I love sweets, like cakes and such, but cannot stand really sweet fruit. Can't figure that out.

I like McIntosh for baking but for eating I prefer a crisper apple. Gala's are probably my favorites but I like them all!

I have had McIntosh, and I find them to be rather rich tasting, if that makes sense. My SIL says they are tart. I never noticed that. They are not my favorite apple, but they are one that I can enjoy. In fact Red Delicious is about the only apple I do not enjoy. I like golden delicious though. I tend to buy either Gala or Jonathan apples. I love to walk through an apple orchard at this time of year.

Yes I have and I really like them. Good flavor. No problem keeping them or should I say they don't last long enough to keep. LOL!

Growing up in Ontario, I'd be hard pressed to never have had a mac... That being said, I don't think they're the best apple for pies (too watery).

Hi. ElicBxn. I would not mind trying this type of apple. I love apple pie too and I know that I would enjoy eating these kind of apples as well.
I have never heard of this kind of apple. But I will make sure that I try these kind of apples very soon though. Thanks for letting us know about this.

I'm sure I've eaten a McIntosh Apple in the past but I don't know for sure. I eat at least one apple a day and I'm sure it's possible I have eaten one. I prefer the hard apples, myself. I'm sure the soft apples are good in apple pie, though.

I honestly don't care for hard anything (except candy...) but that's another story...
They are soft, my mom used to make apple sauce with them and didn't add a pinch of sugar for it! They mushed up nice!
As for apple trees around here, I've heard rumors, but never seen one.
Fredericksburg and Stonewall are famous for their peaches in this neck of the woods, but its always a challenge because some years we don't have enough cold days and some springs we have either a late frost or severe weather that will take out the crop.
I remember there was almost 5 years where between the warm winters, a late frost and 2 springs with hail storms there were almost NO local peaches.

In my country, Malaysia, there isn't any apple tree at all.
The climate here is not suitable to grow apple tree.
All of the apples are imported from oversea.
Based on what you have described here, I am really keen to taste your apple pie if I have a chance.
ha! ha! ha! The apple pie I can taste is the only one from the McDonald fast food restaurant.
