It can be a way to assist when it come to non personal matters. But in a day where so much miscommunication occurs we can take the text messaging and or emailing for granted. As things go wrong and sometimes we do not actually get the message so therefore we jump to the conclusion that the person is not answering. When it comes to business especially they should not take this as sole means for communication as sometimes some of us down time with our services and well never get the message.

you're right hardworkinggurl..I'm also looking at some of my friends who instead of calling would rather send multiple messages. I'm kinda lazy so I don't really like to send messages, that's why I would rather call when I need tot talk to somebody instead of writing them

I don't think they ruin your real life communications but they do make you sit on the computer longer instead of going out and meeting friends. It helps you keep in touch when your busy and so are your friends or if you live too far to travel to meet easily, but it is used to an advantage and too much at times when people use it instead of meeting up because they just can't be bothered.

face to face communication gives immense pleasure. But face to face communication is possible only when someone lives near to you, may be your relatives or friends or someone you visit. But when you have to communicate somebody leaving far away, text mesage, instant message is a great help.some social sites give you immense pleasure communicating with new unknown friends.Earlier we communicate by writing letters.when we get a letter from a relative or a friend it give so much joy taht can not be expressed. Even we waited for the postman to carry letter for us eagerly. But that pleasure is almost vanished now a days due to instant message. In instant message we can use web cam to see the person communicating from very far away.Communicating withothers itself is a pleasure. But when someone find it risky give me sorrow.

Hi swissheart! When you just can't answer the phone on time you would be glad there are text messages around to depend on. Texting is also cheaper and allows you to be equally connected with anyone anywhere in the world. I believe text messages have enriched our lives and make us more connected.

no i dont think it will^^ i guess that now that cellphones and internet exist many people that maybe would never meet can meet this way^^ we can find new good friends and even love with it^^ but sure that being in person is much better and cells or internet will never make face to face talkings disappear^^ we all need something that we can touch and feel close^^

I think it already has. Just look it how popular social networking sites like facebook and myspace have become. It becomes more apparent to me daily that people prefer a virtual way of communicating then having to communicate face to face. I dislike text messaging personally because instead of just receiving phone calls I get multiple text messages from some of my friends because they would rather do that then just dialing my number and talking to me. I don't really even bother with instant messenger any more, I don't really have anyone to talk to on there now. Mylot is pretty much all the communication I need as internet wise really. Every now and then I'll log into facebook but I don't really know what to talk to my friends about when I'm not really there to interact with them. Overall I just prefer interacting with people personally instead of typing to each other on a computer.

No I don't believe it. Ya I agree to you upto some extent. We chat with friends or relatives or even total strangers who are far away from our location, this is called productive chat. But I believe a chat face-to-face with a friend or relative living nearby is more efficient as well as better than IMs. ~cheerio~
