What are you thoughts about TV? Do you think it makes you easily influenced and do you think it controls your mind? Or do you find a lot of comfort and escape to it? Or something to learn from? How healthy is TV?

The television isn't really healthy at all, because of the radiation and harm to it can give to the eyes but it is very useful. For me, it can give comfort and escape to reality... It can give lots of knowledge too ... on almost anything. And it also connects us to the world with the different foreign and local shows ...

I only watch two TV shows these days. Fringe and Venture Bros. I use it as an escape from reality and I feel I deserve that. It is just as bad as a book or video game or movie or something like that. It can become an addiction to some, I think, and that is where it becomes unhealthy. I do not feel TV controls my mind but I do believe it can influence it but no more or less than anything else. I believe you can learn a lot from TV, if that is what you are trying to do by watching it. I, like I said before, use it as an escape. I love comedy. That is a big sell point for me on TV. I think laughter is healthy as long as you are not sitting on your butt laughing for hours upon hours a day. In conclusion, I believe it is to be enjoyed in moderation. It is both a privilege and a responsibility.

That's true, everything is both a privilege and responsibility. And things don't control you unless you let it. I wonder how a person will turn out if they do laugh for hours and hours.

Without TV we would be pretty much cut off from the world. We watch history, science, news, sports and some other shows. We have a very wide choice so I am not as fearfull of being mind controlled as when we only got news from one source.

Watching television has it's positive and negative effect on people. It can be a source of information and entertainment, of comfort and escape. But then again, it would all depend on the shows or programs you'll watch. Too much tv viewing, on the other hand, can make you unproductive. If you're too engrossed in the program you're watching, you wouldn't even realize that the day's already coming to an end, and it's not good even for your health. With regard to being influenced, it also depends on the person. Although TV is a very fast and good medium of communicating one's ideas and/or opinions, it would still be up to the person watching if he or she will be persuaded or influenced that easily.

That's true. It would be a benefit if the 'influence' is a positive and you can be healthy from it.

I find it a lot of help to me. Especially when you are a student and concern in your environment. No television = no news live. There is the newspaper, but I am not fund of reading it. I usually find it more interesting in watching the news than to read. Makes me feel sleepy.

I dont think tv can control your mind but then again it all depends on the person, not everyone is the same some are easily influenced and if you are then tv and almost anything would be able to influence you so yeah it not really television its more of the person, but tv is also a great escape and a whole lot of entertainment for you.
