good day to you fellow mylotter, when i was still a child, i always remember, that my parents always say goodnite before we go to bed, before sleeping time. and that practice was being done until we have graduated and finish our studies. however, that practice was somehow end up when we had our own job. Since we have now a different schedules, saying goodnite was not being done anymore. and, i want to bring it back again to our home. for us to practice. and i am proud that, i somehow started it here, at our boarding house. how about you, do you also say goodnite to your friend or fellow or to your family members? do you also say this to your mom & dad before sleeping? time of reaching the house,

Most of the time, I tell my girlfriend I'm going to bed, kiss her and say goodnight. I believe in doing this because there is a slight chance that's the laqst time we'll see each other. I might get into an accident, she might. So i like to end on a high nnote n

A pleasant day Marty3888, The way you treat your girlfriend is a tremendous thing. You are one in a million. And you are right, we never now what will happen tomorrow. So it is better to do our best today for tomorrow might be late for us to do it. Your ways are commendable.

There is not a single day that I don't say Goodnight and I love you to my boyfriend as we are the only ones that live in our home. One thing to always remember is that tomorrow is not promised so a simple Good night could be very comforting in the event the person does not awake the next day. I will even say Have a Good night if it is after 5 pm and I am at a cash register completing my purchase.

Hello Hardworkinggurl, You are so thoughtful. And you are absolutely right, that tomorrow is not a promised, and because of that, even a simple greetings of good night will somehow be special to the one who will hear and received it.

my personal opinion greetings "gudnite 'is a notification that we will start the activity sleep. Actually it's just to show our politeness toward others.

Well, it's just me and my hubby in our house. I would say that 90% of the time I say good night to him. If I go to bed before him then I definitely say good night. It's when we go to bed together that I don't always remember to say it, but typically we do!

Yes, i always say that to the people i love. My parents, as example, when i lived with them. I was used to do it, since little child, same as you, but it didn't stop when i grow up. May be children are making parents more ... (i'm not sure what is the word) ... kind, soft? I hope you know what i mean :) Now i live with my boyfriend and we always give a kiss to each other and say good night or nice sleep, something like that. It's a great wish and i keep it in my heart and mind at first, then i wish it to the others.

I rarely say goonite to my family members. That is according to my mood. You always wish goodnite to others because you got that experience from your parents. But i didn't get like that training from my parents. I know that it is a very good habit, from today I'm trying to follow this habit in my life like you. Thank you for this topic.

When I was growing up we always had our goodnight rituals. Then when I was married I always said goodnight to my husband and then my kids when they came along. Now I am alone and I say goodnight to a picture of my one and only granddaughter who will be two years old in a couple days. I also share a house with my daughter, she is 28 years old and we share all expenses. I say goodnight to her if she is home. I usually have to knock on her bedroom door to say goodnight because she is almost always in her bedroom as she has her computer and her TV in her room and she leaves the ones in the livingroom for me to use. I have my granddaughters picture beside my bed and I always say goodnight to her last. She lives far away from me, 14 hour car drive, so I don't get to see her as much as I would like to. I will be seeing her next month for christmas. I try to drive to see her at least 4 times a year. I miss her so much. Cheers and Happy mylotting my friend Chris

I grew up in a home that always said goodnight I love you to my parents and to my siblings. When I had my family I followed the same tradition. I remember one time saying goodnight to my parents and then while sleep walking I got up again and kissed my parents goodnight. They laughed about it when they told me in the morning what I had done. Now with my significant other we always say goodnight and I love you. In the morning its always good morning love or sweetheart to each other. Its a good way to start the day.

Even as a child we never practice this at home. So when we grew up we never say goodnight. there were times when me and my sisters are playing before going to be that we say good night after the play and talk but that was never always done every night. If i have my own family, i think i wanted to practice saying good morning or good night to my kids..

I always say goodnite to anyone even if it is not my family or relatives. It is just how it goes with me. ;) it is not bad to say good night though and for me it is a form or respecting others and treating them special! ;)

I am glad to hear that there are so many people who really says goodnite before going to sleep. And, you have a point on that, this is one way of giving respect to others.

Yes. Just like saying 'goodbye'--which really means ... something (http://search.mylot.com/search.aspx?t=web&k=goodbye+meaning "God be with ye")--indicates not so much that you're 'going away' as it indicates that you're 'going to something good,' "goodnight" indicates not-so-much that you're 'restricted to only sleep' as it indicates that 'sleep is the pathway to something good for you tonight.' Goodnight

Not really. When guests are around, then I do say. Courtesy sake. Yes I taught my kids to say good night...they do say so if they hit the bed before me.

If I have interaction with the rest of the family before bedtime or right around bedtime then I do say goodnight. If I haven't I usually don't. Sometimes I feel weird if I haven't said goodnight to them other tims I don't. It just depends on my mood and if I am thinking of them or not.

Although I work nights, I usually have a 'goodnight' conversation with my partner when she goes to bed. This does not happen during the day when I sleep as my partner works on a reception desk in a hospital, which is busy.

I live with my Aunt and Uncle and it is part of our daily Routine to end up the day with a good night kiss or else they would feel sulky if we forgot to say it.

I rarely say good night before going to sleep because I'm normally the last one going to sleep. Sometimes my brother and I will go to sleep at the same time and then we will say good night. My dad works nights so I don't normally see him when he goes to sleep, but I will say good morning to him when he wakes up in the afternoon. My mom normally goes to bed too early and she'll just yell at us to be quiet before going to bed or occasionally if we've woken her up.
