Cooking cliche?

While some of us are buying lunch and dinner after the day's over, others cook. Something that we might hear often, why is it women who always cook for their family, despite the fact that most of popular cooks in the business are men? Does it have anything to do with who cares more for the family? ^^

I find sometimes it is convenient to pick up something quick, however both my boyfriend and I cook at home. I find that I am the better cook and he can cook some things really great, but not nearly as much as me. I suppose it just depends as there many great male and female chefs out in the world today. I suppose it also depends on the passion for cooking, and for me being that I was a single mother for a long time I just had to cook and really enjoyed it as well.

You really enjoy cooking? Good for you! ^^ I do sometimes think that cooking, is complementary rather than duty, especially for spouses... Btw how long have you been a single mom?

Now your telling me. I can relate to this one since my father in law is a chef. But whenever he is home, he does cook but seldom because my mother in law cooks food most of the time. I guess that mothers have the right to cook and prepare food at home because this really shows love and care for the family. We are so thankful to have moms who are responsible in the kitchen. Even if father in law cooks better than my mother in law, he still allows her to cook and prepare food for the family. Probably also he is already tired cooking, hehe! imagine all days work he is in the kitchen, so at home, he wants to relax also and let the cooking be done by his wife.

It seems to fit pretty well, right? Women and kitchen, love and family... ^^ Regardless of who's the shining ones in the culinary world, it's always women who'd match perfectly and beautifully in the kitchen .. ahhh now I just remembered my mom again.. can't wait to go back home! btw thanks for the marvelous response strawberry! I feel that most women cook because it is their duty as the woman of the house. I enjoy cooking a meal that my family will enjoy and I enjoy adding a few extras to their day when I make cookies or cupcakes. I know that they will enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them. I feel that a mother should feel even stronger about making sure that her family is well cared for and well fed as the children are in need of good meals.

I always thought it was my resonsibility as a mother to cook for my children. It didn't have anything to do with being popular. I wasn't on tv i was being a mom.

Hi, WHile I was working last time, I seldom cook unless on my off-days or when I have the mood to cook. But now, I am a full time housewife and with small kid around at home, I prefer to eat home cooked meal everyday. So I am doing the cooking for my family. I am cooking simple dishes, yet delicious and nutritious. Eating too much outside food is not good for health. FOr me, I feel that I have the responsibility to takecare of my family and I have to perform my duty as a wife and mother at home.

Hi shia...You, ma'am, have earned yourself an award for the best response to this discussion, coz you remind me of my beloved mom at home... It's always enticing for me to listen to how a mother gives and cares for the family because it really shows love, and LOVE is something (besides cooking) which is essential, DELICIOUS and NUTRITIOUS for the whole family ^^ Have a nice day!! :DD

I never thought about it that way. I cook all the time, my family don't eat out much. But men are popular in the culinary world. I think it's because women may be drawn to a cute exciting man on TV maybe... I really can say but you are making me think.
