Global Warming......fact or fiction??

I'd say a little of both. The earth runs in cycles, obviously. The American Southwest used to be tropical. The ice age once encompassed most of the earth, covering it in ice and snow. The magnetic poles of the earth are known to be shifting. So, I don't believe global warming to be something entirely manmade. However, that doesn't mean we don't make a dent in the earth's processes. Trees are a primary source of oxygen for humans as well as the major remover of CO2 from the atmosphere. When the population increases and uses more and more carbon fuels to operate machinery while at the same time removing more and more trees from the planet (trees that may be renewable resources, but that don't grow nearly as quickly as we can remove them), there's going to be an obvious imbalance. Read about the London fogs that used to envelop that city and why and then look at the city now. We realized the source and cleaned it up. I remember not being able to see Philadelphia from my side of the Delaware River because of pollution. Now, it's clear. We humans DO have an effect on the earth, but I don't think it's entirely us alone. Yet, that doesn't mean we can ignore what we DO contribute. What do you think? Do we have any responsibility at all to this earth? Should we continue multiplying without replenishing?

The global warming that Al Gore and the UN preach is a scam, possibly the largest scam ever inflicted on people. Is there global warming? Could be, because there are temperature cycles. In the 1970's, scientists and experts were predicting a cooling down of temperatures. Is global warming caused by CO2? Not much evidence of this. The greenhouse gas that is most prevalent is water vapor - over 90% of the greenhouse gas total. Water vapor has not been considered. Another area of neglect is that variations in solar activity on the Sun have not been accounted for, and that is know to impact earth's temperature. If, in fact, CO2 is playing a role in the warming cycle, there has been no effort put toward looking at all of the natural sources of CO2, which are larger than the man-made CO2. So how can the global warming movement be so far off? The driver behind global warming for those who originated it is the money - billions and billions of dollars to be had. Those who will not get a piece of the money, are in it for political correctness. For countries, like the US, it is another reason to tax the people. So the cap and trade programs are sought after. Third world countries are fighting through the UN because GHG is another reason for wealth re-distribution. The less developed nations are saying they need billions of dollars to deal with global warming. Many scientists agree with the politically correct agenda because they want to continue getting papers published. Environmental consultants agree because it is creating a lot of new work. Governors, Mayors and Congressmen agree because it is politically correct to do so. I don't agree because the UN study has been shown to be a fraud and there is no solid science at all that man-made CO2 is causing global warming. There has to be some solid proof of the cause and a planned corrective action before any tax should be imposed on the people. Meanwhile, people like Al Gore, who use hysteria and fear to promote this garbage, should be thrown in jail!

Dear Jerz I think what you stated is reality and facts, I dont think that there is any fiction in this, global warming is fact and behind this fact there are different reasons, these reasons are man made and natural. Natural factors are contributing in a constant fashion and it ll continue till the end but we as human are responsible to increase these natural factors. Our earth is now becoming just like a room, which is now covered by different layers of gases which we emit into the atmosphere, through these layer the sun rays can come inside but after reflection it cannot go out side and ultimately the average temperature is increasing beside this our unhealthy activities like deforestation and others are contributing a lot to it, green plants consume CO2 which is forming layer around our earth but we still are removing green from our land and increasing our buildings etc to meet the need of growing population. There are other factors too which plays a vital role, and I agree with you that these are facts and we have to fac these facts and should think about our future generation to come, what we are leaving for them....:) Be happy and be the reason of happiness in others life...

The Global warming issue is really scary. Not a few years from now we will all be experiencing its great effect. We can now experience the slight effect of this one with the El Nino and La Nina phenomenon. We should really plant more trees so that It will absorb the CO2 that is being emitted by humans and the industrialized places. Let us all contribute in keeping earth a safe place to live by doing our individual share to avoid Global warming to happen.

Earth cycles would continue to change, even if we did not contribute, however, since we KNOW that we contribute to climate change, we need to be responsible for helping improve the situation. Individually we can recycle, plant trees, reduce waste. We need to not have that attitude that "I am only one person, I do not make any difference." Each person makes some difference, either for the positive or the negative. They are responsible individually. Each person is also responsible corporately or in groups to preserve and protect the earth.

hi jerzgirl I believe you are right some is fact some fiction, and we can make a difference if we will. we need to quit deforesting our woods and polluting air and water. car owners can declare that cows burping causes more pollution than autos but that does not make it true at all. Some places can be so pollited people are afraid to eat the fish that are in those waters. And the smog has hit places likv Denver Colorado which once had clean air, phoenix arizona was also bad for smog, of course LA has always been smog city.we can do a lot if we will as we are responsible for this earth that was given to us.

Just bear in mind that global warming has nothing to do with the air we breath, or the land and water we want to preserve for our children. CO2 has never been shown to be a pollutant until the recent tricks played by the EPA.

Hi Jergirl Hmmm this topic is exactly like the one I just finished blogging about on Sideticks.com Well I guess I'll say the same thing I said on that blog I think there is truth to global warming the weather has changed the wildlife is reacting to the environmental changes due to the fossil fuels and emmissions that enter the atomoshpere as well as chemical plants and the dumping of toxic wastes etc.. it can be a number of reasons why things are happening this way And also maybe the earth has been doing this for centuries on end its just new to us cuz we haven't been around all that long to witness it let alone keep records of it so maybe this weather of above and below average tempuratures isn't all that abnormal at all as far as natural things that the earth does but when human kind interferes I imagine it would throw of the balance of things
