Years ago, before the minimum invasive techniques currently used, I had my gallbladder out. To minimize the pain I was given Darvon. I had freakishly frightening nightmares. Since then I have refused any codeine or Darvon derivatives. Occasionally, I still think about the vivid and frightening dreams and the bizarre olfactory hallucinations that accompanied them.

If I had dreams like that all the time, I would never want to go to sleep! Maybe your meds are affecting your dreams or something you ate. I don't study dreams like a lot of people do, but I know sometimes it is your subconscious telling you something. In my dreams I am not disabled and can run and jump.1 person likes this

Well this might be due to the sleeping tablets you take, you might need to change that. I normally have a very sound sleep, i sleep like a log..Here in my place there are dream interpreters, as per them dreams have deep inner meanings, but it depends on several factors like time at which one went to bed, what food was eaten.. some say dreams seen in early morning hours come true!!
Thank you so much for sharing your dreams.
Professor. . Cheers God bless you. Welcome always.

My dad has this problem when he takes a certain over the counter allergy medicine. It works well, but he always has really bad dreams with it. It's so odd that it affects him like that when any other allergy medicine does not do that. So he tries not to take that unless his allergies are really bad.

yes..the pills maybe the reason for it...many times the doctors give us the medication for the betterment but that obstructs our natural sleep and results in such kind of dreams...dreams sometimes have no sense and nothing to do with reality...so no need to worry about what u saw..

Some medications do cause this...
The antihistamine that I take for my blood disorder causes some pretty disturbing nightmares, sometimes to the point that I can't sleep for 1-5 days afterward.

These kinds of dreams can only be attributed to one of two things. The first thing that comes to mind is that there are fears that you have been experiencing in your life right now and those fears are manifesting themselves in your dreams. The other could be if you are on new medications it could be messing with you psychologically. Regardless of which of these two causes there are for your dreams, I think that I would probably bring it up with your doctor.

Hiya jugs,
Yes you can have horrid Dreams from tablets that you have to take. I don“t know what you are taking but even the most inoffensive ones I think can trigger off nightmares or Dreams loaded with anxiety.
Also if you are having an extra amount of nervous strain put on you can have the same effect.

I do experience strange dreams as well, but the ending are usual not as bad as it's going to be. I often dream of myself being caught for something wrong, but i always escape punishments from being caught too. There are also times, i will be dreaming about my future, only that it doesn't end up the same way, in reality, only the process is the same but not the ending.

Hi Jugs
Actually there are different reasons for such type of dreams, and the main thing which I consider in this type of dreams is depression or some kind of tension. As from your post, I can imagine that you love your family very much and you are always crazy about their safety and every thing, and this thing is always in your mind to protect them, and then it appears in your dreams as this is saved in your mind.
Because I have observed with me, when ever I am depressed or in tension then such type of dreams appear to me too, that I am alone or some thing is coming to harm me like this, even with out any kind of pills, but pills or the medication you are using have also effect on your dreams, it may enhance the function of your brain cells to give you comfort during sleep, but as you are crazy about your family and their safety so this type of dreams appears, I think you should consult to your doctor and take his help regarding this, your doctor can satisfy you about your worries and dreams...:)
Have a nice day a head...:)

Hi Saqi,
You have a point here and I completely agree to it. Yes, there might be a side effect of the pills that Jugs is taking but still, it is more what stays in our subconscious minds that comes to play when we dream.
Jugs is ill somewhere and I too think it is more because of the illness and depression.
Cheers,
theSids.

Hi Thesids
Thank you very much for a nice response, I have heard these thing or read some where that subconscious mind remember such type of things and then those things appears to us in form of dreams and I think the theory behind any dream is like this...:)
Have a nice day...:)

I have had some weird dreams too. It is my body's way of waking me so I can go to the bathroom. Question. What time was it when you had your last drink? Was it Right before you got into bed? If so? That maybe the reason. I wait at least 90 minutes before I go to bed after drinking Any liquid!

What powerful pills are u on that u have such dreams? I think it's partly due to your worries, and thus resulting in those dreams. If i'm guessing correctly, that children that got ran over should be your son with ADHD? Well, dreams are dreams, they are opposite to reality, and so all the more it wont happen. U should relax yourself well

hi jugsjugs you are ri ght it could indeed be side effects from the pills you take, I took one for having lost a lot of sleep and I did sleep but had these awful dreams of getting lost, and of being put in the hospital for heart disease which I have never had. the getting lost is the scariest one of all.It startsout with me being with a group of friends. they decide they want to linger over our dinner. so we agreed that they would meet me at J.C.Penny. but when I left the cafe I could not find the familar street where J,C.Pennys was on. In fact all the streets were named wrong, nothing was familiar and I went back to the cafe only it was no longer there, just an empty business for sale. I asked someone what had happened to Tustin and they told me this town was not tustin. so then Iam walking and run out of the town into an area which is being dug up with huge earth moving machines. then i find a building with an office in the bottom floor. So I asked to borrow their phone and I phoned for a cab to take me to Jc Penny's but then I woke up and looked around I was not lost. so frightening but so glad it was only a dream.oh jugsjugs I am so sorry about that dream one of your children got killed. How horrid. at least you had to have been so glad when you woke up and knew it was just a dream. I know I was on sleeping pills and had such bizarre dreams including again the lost city one,.I hate that and it only seems to happen when my life is all screwed up. hope those side effects soon wear off and you only have pleasant dreams. take care
God Bless

Hi jugs~ I am pretty sure that it is due to whatever pills you
are taking! I don't know what pills they are, but I would check
with your doctor and tell him about this and he will let you
know if this is one of the side effects. I have had pills that
have done the same thing to me causing me to have strange and
horrific dreams too! Unfortunately, some of the stronger pain
meds or antidepressants can cause many side effects and the
doctors have to decide whether it is more important for you
to take the pills or try to change them to something else that
might not have the same side effects. I strongly advise discussing
this with your doctor asap.

Check with your doctor. Most doctors will take you off your medications if they are messing with your head that badly! I have been bounced around from medication to medication and some of them gave me nightmare and some didn't. But, I do talk to my doctor if I have a problem and if my doctor won't listen I quit seeing him or her and find a new doctor that will listen.
