I'm whittling down my list of survey sites

I got to thinking about a discussion a friend posted the other day and decided to follow their lead. I gave Survey Spot the boot and just now canceled my membership at Global Test Market, a site that used to pay very well but no longer does. I did the math--1,000 points needed to cash out for $10 and at an average of 40 points per survey I'd have to take 25 of them to reach payout. They're usually about 20 minutes apiece so I'd spend 8.33 hours to make $10, which figures out to about $1.20 per hour! I can concentrate on more productive ways to earn money than sites like Global Test Market! Just thought I'd give an illustration of how we sometimes think we're making money but we are being distracted from better sources of income.

I also used to do the Global Test Market but not anymore I realized that it was not really worth it as you have stated. I do surveys with opinion outpost since they do pay well and I always have a survey waiting for me in my inbox every day so it is a really good site. I also do some transcription which pays out a lot better than most surveys. One place to go is to Callgraph it is a transcription company that pays daily and they always have work to do either to transcribe or to review so it pays well. It's so true how some sites trick you into thinking you are making money but you really are missing out on much better opportunities.

I'll check Callgraph, that sounds like a great way to pick up a few dollars. I can type almost as fast as I can talk so it would be easy for me. Thanks!!

Glad I could give you an extra idea of where to go and it really is a great site to work with. I think they should still be hiring and you will be an independent contractor so it is real good work. You sound like me I am the same at typing I talk as fast as type so I get some good pay outs. If you need anymore ideas or help let me know and I will be glad to assist.

I think GlobalTestMarket's minimum is $50, not $10. I wish it was $10. In any case, I feel they've definitely gone downhill. Motto of the month for me: online spring cleaning. Concentrate on what's working, kick what's not working to the curb by the end of the year. Go into the new year a lot lighter and focused.

That's a great way to start the new year and you're starting the task early enough so that you can pick and choose without rushing. And you just reminded me, I've got to give Toluna the boot, too. Or did I already? Geez, I'll be glad when I'm down to just a few good profitable sites!

I was never truly with Toluna. Reached the minimum to get an obscure £10 discount voucher, then never went back after that. Like you mentioned, if you're not working on surveys that are below par, you can spend more time writing. Plus it means you can perhaps take on a couple of new potential money makers in the future.

im with you on that one. also, ive figured out the best ones only go for people under 25 yrs to join. and with large families. so right now, i only have 3. which ive lied to to get sorry to say but in this day and time you've got to get it where you can the 2 you mentioned are 2 ive belonged to and gave up some time ago.

I do not understand the age discrimination--older people have more disposable income than the younger ones! It's screwy, to say the least. Also they are always asking if you're Hispanic, I think they want more of that demographic because it's growing so quickly!

I have to agree with you about Global Test Market. A couple of weeks ago I was trying to take surveys and I answered detailed questions on one for 10 - 15 minutes or so and then it tells me, "Sorry but you have screened out of the survey". I thought I was TAKING the survey! Instead, I had just been scammed. There is no reason to "screen" through 15 minutes of questions. No, they got the information they wanted and then said I screened out so they wouldn't have to pay me. I had this happen a couple of times with OTX as well so now I don't take their surveys either. I went to my account on GTM and requested payment. I just cashed the check and I'm dropping them. I also saw online where other people were dropping them and one person said that GTM was getting their surveys from OTX. That could be part of the reason for their decline. On a side note, for anybody else that had problems with OTX, they sometimes come up as OpinionSphere now. Probably because the number of people taking their surveys was dropping rapidly. There are enough good survey sites out there. I don't need either one of these.

Thanks for the tip about OpinionSphere! I hate OTX. Opinion Outpost is my favorite and I checked the box that says not to send OTX surveys. I did notice quite a few OTX recently on GTM surveys and I just skipped those--they are definitely a scam, get your info then give you nothing for it.

Yeah some of the good survey sites once payed a generous amount, but now no longer do so. I prefer to not do survey sites as much anymore because the surveys take a long time and you get a small reward for completing them. In other words I just didn't find it worth it for some sites.

There are a lot that aren't worth it anymore. It seems that as soon as the economy went haywire the survey sites reacted by getting stingy and expected more work for less reward. Opinion Outpost is one I'll keep, though. If you haven't tried them, you should. Surveys pay $1.50-$3 and only take 10-20 minutes. I've been making about $15 to $20 a month there.

I still do Global Test Market, but not as much. I thought they used to give 5 points even when you screen out, but that does not seem to be the case anymore. Atleast not for me. I skip the surveys that only give sweepstakes entries and not points. I don't have time to do surveys for a sweepstakes I may or may not win lol. One I really like is Toluna. Now how often I make the cash-out depends on how active I am. So that varies. But if you go to the actual site itself, you can vote in sponsored polls and get points through those. I just cashed out a few weeks ago, and a lot of it came from doing the polls a few times a week (don't get me wrong, the surveys will help to add to your points. But the polls will too).

I wasn't getting a lot of surveys from Toluna and they did raise their point requirement for cash out about a year ago when they merged with Greenfield. I don't participate there anymore. Mysurvey.com used to be good but now they only give you 5 points per survey and you need 1100 points to cash out for a $10 gift card! Not worth it anymore. I like Clear Voice surveys--if you are screened out it is quickly and they credit your account $.10 for your efforts. Opinion Outpost is a consistently good earner for me. I think the poor economy is hitting everyone, even the survey companies!

I earn enough to cash out of Toluna every few months. I log in and do the polls a lot and it adds up. I wish they still paid by PayPal though. :-/ So it's not as good anymore? I was on MySurvey awhile back & loved it. My dumb self didn't know it was one account per household, and my Mom already had one. So I was kicked off. They told me I could still take surveys through her account, but yeah - I wanted to earn my own points lol. I have never heard of Clear Voice surveys, I'll have to check it out. Opinion Outpost I know but I am not too familiar with it.

Personally I have never really been a Big fan on Survey sites. I do tend to consider trying some of them out but since most of the time, they also say I did not qualify once I do the initial footwork it makes me wonder what they really want for sure. And hey, if you look at things monitarily if you are not being rewarded in something you are doing that you're not really enjoying why keep on doing it anyways? I find being in here in myLot posting so much more worth it for sure.

I really enjoy myLot, too. I find that the older I get, the less I qualify for surveys but still, I get enough to make it worth my while. Surveys are "work" for me but the income is welcomed. I don't make as much on myLot in a month as I do in surveys but I certainly enjoy it more!

It becomes really easy to do what we have always done. If we do that we lose sight of things that could be better for us.

Yes, sometimes we need a good shake up! At least I'll be spending my time more productively.

I am still a member of many different sites but anymore I am usually to busy with mylot and ebay to get time to sit and do the paid survey sites. Once I am done listing all my exes games on ebay then I will have time to do the survey sites again. I used to do paidsurveys ALL the time with sendearnings and inboxdollars when they always paid you $1.00 for any survey you completed but now its like .25 and .50 most the time for surveys that are long and arent worth sitting there for that long. What I hate the most is getting half way through a long survey only to find that I dont qualify and it was all a total waste of my time!

I know what you mean. At 56, I don't qualify for a lot of surveys but I'm surprised that your demographic would be rejected! If you aren't a member of Opinion Outpost, check it out when you have time. It's a good moneymaker for me.

It's a great idea to streamline our tasks. Afterall we only have 24 hours in a day, we need to select and choose the ones that will generate the most from time spent. I'm still doing paid survey sites but have shortlisted them to just a few. I think I would need to streamline my activities even more. I guess you are write that sometimes we are distracted from more productive ways to earn money. As such, I'm going to spend more time writing instead.
