Who believed in you?

November 13, 2010 2:12pm CST
Hello friends, Reading and observing people, I came to the conclusion that the key to success in life is having people believe in you and your abilities. if you don't have that, you will fail in life, maybe even going as far as mental illness, drug use, and crime. i had several people who believed in me in key junctures of my life. They included my high school principal, a boss of mine, and my husband. Do you agree with my observation? Who were the people who believed in you?

No, in my case this doesn't work.I have to believe myself when I want to achieve something, no matter how hard others encourage me and support me, I fail when I think that it won't work.Imagine, that your partner says to you that you're attractive, and you still doesn't feel attractive enough because you don't believe it.Same with work. It's funny, when someone says you really can do it and you think no I can't.It's very important to believe yourself.I'm still learning it.

I think action would be the key.You take action, and if you succeed with that action, say to yourself: I can do this. And you have to make that belief stronger after each and every successful action.Because when we don't take actions because we are afraid to fail, we lose the opportunity to succeed.

I like that attitude. it seems that for some people though, they need someone else to give them the support or they won't take that first step.

I think the next question is how to learn to believe in yourself. Do you need someone else's belief first, or can you do it even without others' belief?

My parents and my brother always believed in me and encouraged me as did my primary school headmaster. Nowadays I would say that its mainly my mum and my sons - they believe that I am so much better than I feel that I am.

When you have skills every opportunity follows you! You talk of your principal, that is an indicated that you were a good student!

I was a good student. Not one of the best in my class, but still good. (2nd rank?) Skills and alertness together make opportunities.

I must say that before others can believe in you, you need to believe in yourself. You yourself need to know what you want to do in life and how you are going to achieve it. If you believe in yourself, even if no one believes in you, you will stay strong and pursue your dreams!

But how do you learn to believe in yourself?

Belief is something which depends on individuals how we make our image with others with our behavior others will get a impressions of belief but once belief is lost we cant build up it again so we need to keep the belief kept on us

well yeah i think partly, that could be the key to one's success in life...i had several people who "believed " in my abilities and capabilities too...and that includes my mother...but anyway, sometimes she was wrong. i don't know if she's wrong because she is, or if it's cause i don't want her to be right...know what i mean? well sometimes i end up failing because i don't like what i do or am supposed to do...

Hi, I agreed with your above statement. In order to have success in life, at least we need to have someone to believe on us, or else, it is hard to have a stable position. Let's talk about work, if your boss does not trust you at all,how can you do your work well and for sure you won't enjoy working in that company too. But in order to make people trust you, you have to be honest and frank, and know how to react well based on the situation.

I agree with Sydneyhazelton, we have to believe in ourselves first before letting people believe in us. We believe in ourselves we create things to happen and the result and someone around you notice it then they will normally encourages us to do better or or newer things. we feel good with the praises we feel good about ourselves.
