I have got a friend that I have knew her for years and yesterday she told me that she have got this weird habit where she will need to hold and rub a person hand to sleep, or else she will not able to sleep. I pity her husband because he have to let someone to hold and rub his hand while sleeping.
I know many people have some habit, like biting finger nail, shaking leg and so on. So what is your habit and is it a weired habit?

Hi yspmyl,
I have a bunch of those weird habits and if you say they are bad... I would accept.
I scratch my nose, shake my legs and even play with the pencil or pen when I hold them. Also play with my hair which are now longer and would grow longer. All this when I am tense or pressurized with work.
Shaking my legs is when I am listening to some song or music and having nothing to do...
I think I should start out for finding psychological reasons for these

It is not weird at all. :) I used to tap my kids feet gently so that they will doze off easily. Without doing it, it is so difficult to put them to sleep no matter how late it is.
I applied such practice on them because my mom used to do it to me when I was a kid and it sure rocked me off to sleep. But I got over it when I got older. However, sometimes, it relaxes me when i shake my leg while lying on bed. :)

I think that is not too bad if you pat them to sleep, my both sons like me to pat them at the backside to sleep too. But that later became a habit for them that they can't sleep if we are not there to pat them.
I think if a habit not become too aggressive, it will still be fine. But it become too obvious that affect others that is something not too good. Just like some people that I have meet before that they like to shake their legs when sitting on the chair. I have once sat beside this friend that have this habit, he was shaking his legs so hard that I can feel the chair vibrate.

hello yspmyl!
i have a weird habit too which sometimes ire my partner since he can't sleep because of it, lol. I find that touching his skin lightly from here and there, makes me sleepy and gets me to sleep ultimately. i don't know, this had been the case since i was a kid but i used to touch my own skin then, usually my earlobes or my neck, where it's soft.
I have a sister too who can't sleep without thumbsucking while drilling a hole in her pillow, lol. She feels asleep just doing that. Kind of weird but well, if its gotta make me and her sleep, who cares? lol

I never heard of any one of my friends is having the habit like you before. I think that kind of habit is quite rare. I too used to have a habit when I am going to sleep, I like to put my forehead stick to the wall and to feel the coldness from the wall. It last for few years and later I manage to get rid of the bad habit.

Well one bad habit that I have been dying to quit from is picking up my lips skin. It caused my lips to bleed and painful all the time. I'm really happy that I have finally got away from it since 3 or so weeks ago. It is a terrible bad habit and sometimes I found myself still picking my lips while trying to sleep. I hated it so much hehe!
Have a nice day

I used to bite my fingernails when I was in gradeschool but when I got told off big time by my parents, I did eventually stop doing it. My weird habit lately is that I pick on the sides of my fingernails, you know those lose skin on the sides? I pick on them and try to remove those lose edges of my skin by either side of my fingernails when I'm idle. I just do it automatically and my fiance hates it. He tells me off everytime I unconsciously do it. I try not to do it but I sometimes can't help it.

That will be painful if you were to pick the sides of your fingernails, at the moment you pick it, it will still not that painful but it will became painful after that. When you soak your hand in the water, you will feel the pain. I think you can prevent it by wearing a glove or something to cover up your fingers for sometime until you having the conscious not to do it anymore.

Hi Hatley,
That is something funny, so by doing that you will be able to know whether it is time to wash your hair or not. Just kidding.
I too used to pull my eye browns when I am reading a book during my school time, I am lucky that it doesn't become bold but that make it darker..

It's embarrassing, but I still have the habit of sucking my thumb. That's something that most people get rid of in childhood, but for me, for some reason, it just didn't go away. It makes me feel comfort and when I"m stressed it relaxes me. It's weird, definitely, but I don't do it 24/7, or in public. It's just a bad habit that makes me feel better. I'm just glad I'm lucky enough not to have bad teeth from it! haha
