The country of New Zealand.

I read the book about New Zealand this week. It's capital is Wellington and the two main islands are called North and South Islands. It is located south of the Equator so their seasons are opposite of ours (US). But they still celebrate Christmas during their summer season (eating barbecue at the beach!). I was most interested in the Fauna there. They have frogs that don't become tadpoles and become frogs once they hatch from the eggs. They also have geckos that give live births, no eggs, to usually twins. The kiwi bird is an emblem for New Zealand and they are the only birds with the sense of smell. New Zealanders call themselves 'kiwi' after the birds and the kiwifruit's name was derived from the mass producing of the fruit from the island in the 1950's. The Maori people were the first settlers of this country before the Europeans came. Have you visited this country before? What other interesting info do you have about this country? Thanks.
