People. Forgive me if i have this observation, i just hope that you wont think that i am self-righteous but like i said, it is juat an observation. Do you honestly think that during the teenage years up to the middle-aged people, they seem to wane on spirituality or think or care less about their souls? While as during the child years and retirement years, people tend to realize and focus on their spirituality more? Am i wrong?

Well, I can really only speak for myself. I've always known that God loves me, but it was around my late teens that I started becoming more spiritual. I think that was when things started to become more clear for me about what God's love for me actually means. I guess it was hard for me to comprehend it when I was younger and I struggled a little as a result. But now I'm in my late 20's and I can better understand God's unconditional love and that I actually matter more than I can fully know.

I think you are right. I also think there are also developmental stages in terms of our spiritual growth. In my opinion and based on my own spiritual growth, my teenage years up to adulthood years became a period of confusion and discernment for me. It was during that time that I observed a lot of different kind of religions and considered what was best for me. It was not that I didnt care less about my soul. But that period was like an unstable spiritual stage for me. After that I felt that I became more stable and sure about my spirituality and tend to focus more on it.

I would say it depends on upbringing, although some people never lose connection with the spirit world since I was small I am always interested in spirituality, although because my family is religious, I was directed to religion and I didn't get on spiritual path until much later at 30 or so the people I learned from, some gained their insights at early age and some gained it at 20-30 like an ancient Chinese proverb says 'wisdom doesn't always travel with age' so old or not, there is always something we can learn from someone

I is not about the matter of age but on how they value the word of God or value the spirituality. I mean I don't believe that all people who are praying or joining any religious organization are really spiritual. It is not that I am judging them but base on my observation not all of them are doing the good teachings of God. Some of them are just praying because they were obligated by other people it can be parents.

Grace beta I am a regular visitor to temples and places of pilgrimage in India, some 30 years back i used to see aged persons there, but these days i find young guys and girls, even school students worshipping and praying.. May be they have problems, but at times i feel it is becoming a fashion, because of the influence of tons of godmen and women here, most are corrupted though.. Thank you so much for this discussion. Professor. . Cheers have a great day ahead. God bless you. Welcome always.

I personally think there are many who are brought up in a certain religion and never question the rights or wrongs of it but blindly follow it to the letter. There are others like myself who began to question everything about it at a young age and search all beliefs, some find what they want in another religion others never find anything that satisfys their questions. Stages in life does not matter if you are young or old its a case of what you find within yourself and how you apply it to your life - if that makes sense.

No, I don't think so. I do think there are other things that compete for attention for people in these age groups, but I don't thikn people go through a "dry" period of spirituality. For the teens early 20's I think it is pretty realistic that people are discovering who they are, and what they believe. As such, many people are likely discovering themselves and their own spirituality. I know from my own experience, teens and young adults can be very spiritual. I think it comes down to the individuals and the circles of people they hang around with. Although I do think the older we get, the more we think about our own mortality, I don't think we necessarily look for spirituality as we get older. I think we see things more frequently and realize the patterns of life and cyclic nature of things. As such, many beliefs and prejudices we had when were younger tend to be sluffed off as we approach middle age to our golden years. We end to focus less on the drama of our lives and more on our own issues. As such, I think a certain maturity comes with that and we put aside frivolous issues and quit looking for a quick fix to a good time, and start looking for things that make us truly happy.
