Maybe you are responsible to know that you may not be able to care for them that's ok. It's good to be honest and you don't have to be a pet person if you're not. I was always raised with pets.. I always had a dog in my life and I think they pretty much raised me. Now I have a cat since my last dog passed away and they make me happy.

I have had pets all my life and the times I didn't, I adopted my neighbors..LOL Animals don't live as long as people unless you have a parrot, so you shouldn't feel guilty if you took care of your dog and he lived a good life. I do want to warn you though, fish don't last that long, at least not the ones I had..

I grew up with pets. My dad bred beagles up until I was 5 and my sister had a poodle. Then when she moved out, my other sister got a dog, and then I did too along with some fish or a bird here and there. Plus my oldest sister had a cat and a few times when her cat had kittens, she'd bring them to our house until a home was found for them. So, I never went long without a pet.

you and i are alike, i am like that.. hahah i guess the reason why i am also hesitant on getting a dog is because of the responsibility attached to it, i don't like cleaning its hair balls..or its pooh.. hehe so you and i are on the same boat on this one!

I grew up loving animals and as a child at one time my family had a dog, 5 cats, 9 birds, and I don't know how many tropical fish. Then I got married and moved to Italy. My husband did not like dogs and really our house would not be at all suitable for keeping a dog (no yard or even a terrace or balcony) and hated cats. (He had a bad experience with a cat when he was three) All of my in laws would have been totally against the idea of keeping an animal in the house so I became resigned to living without a pet although I still liked animals. My children did get some gold fish and small tortoises at a local fair, but they did not last long. Would you believe that the gold fish actually jumped out of their tank. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the fish tank in the morning and wondered "Where did the fish go?" Then about 7 years ago a stray cat moved into the neighbourhood. We kind of all adopted him. He started sleeping at my neighbour's who lives on the left, but he liked eating under the balcony of the woman who lives to my right and the cat and I became friends. I would give him scraps and he would sometimes eat them although he usually prefers the food that Bruna gives him. Then a couple of years ago my husband moved out, my neighbour on the left had a stroke and the cat moved in with me. So now I have a cat, at least during the cold and rainy season. In summer Micio will stay out all day and I won't see him for days, except when he eats under Bruna's balcony. But once Fall hits he won't leave my couch except to eat.

no, i'm not a pet person as well like you... i used to have a rooster and a dog in the past... but it is my younger brother who wanted to keep them and he is also the one who is looking after them... i am thinking of having a dog again as a pet in the future when i already have children... take care and have a nice day...

I am definitely a pet person. I cannot remember a time when I didn't have a pet. My family has always had at least a cat, if not a dog too. I think I like cats best though. I knew my husband was the right guy for me when the first thing he did when he finally go his own apartment was to go the the Humane Society and get a cat. Even better, he said he picked the cat he did because it had blue eyes like me. Currently, I have a cat and two fish. Maya is the cat and the fish are Rico and Toni. There used to be another fish named Lola, but she passed away last week. I named them that because I have a resident at work who keeps singing Copa Cabana by Barry Mannilow!

I'd like to think that I am. I've almost always had some sort of pet since I was little. The only time I didn't was when I lived in an apartment complex that didn't allow pets. That was a lonely time. Okay, so I did sneak a kitten in once, but unfortunately that didn't work out (I got busted). Anyway, good luck with Merlin. Happy mylotting!

Hi jazel juan: I love pets but at the same time I understand that I don't have enought time to be responsible for caring for them so I prefer just to watch them on tv or visiting my parent's house. They actually have a dog. ALVARO

I guess I would belong to the category of dog lovers. Mainly because I was raised up as a child on having dogs around the house. My dad and my mom loves dogs and until now we have dogs as our pets. And having said that, now that I have moved abroad, me and my fiancee got ourselves a puppy from the pet pound or a kennel supported by Dogs Trust. We both love her a lot and she's very amusing and obedient. I guess having a pet trains you to be responsible. It's like having kids. You take care of your pet as you would of your child. Good luck on your new pet and I hope you enjoy having a fish as a pet. :)

Nope, I am not a pet person Never have been. To be honest, I am a bit afraid of dogs. I see a cute dog or cat every now and then and I admire them. But I never had the urge to bring one home. I hope you will be more successful with your fish. I know just looking at a fish swimming around can be a stress-reliever. Cheers!

Hi jazel, My family lives in rural India and this we always had some buffaloes and cows and i loved them. I liked to milk them too. ALso we have few dogs out there as it is common in rural India that you give left over food to street dogs and soon they become your pet and are always around your house or in your farms. Now i m in new delhi and have a German Shephard female dog with me. So yes you can say i am a pet person.

I had a dog too but we gave her to a family friend when we moved here to the capital from our province. I'm not really easily attached to pets either but it's great to, once in a while, toy with them. Dogs are a lot of fun. No wonder why they're called man's best friend.
