Okay, so we don't celebrate the day before Thanksgiving as a holiday, but still it is a great day for reflection. So, the question that I would like to ask today is what is the one thing that you are the most thankful this year? For me it is the fact that I've got two wonderful children and a great husband. This year has been full of tough times, but my family has been the thing that has helped me get through it all.

I am thankful that i have 3 wonderful children and the fact that they are all happy and in good health. I only have one son living with me as the other two live with their mothers, but each of them are happy and healthy, that means more to me than anything. Families can be great, especially when you are feeling low and down, they can pick you up and show that things can get better, they do it so well, it is always good to have a good family. I think at somepoint we all go through many tough times, each and every year, but hope fully experiencing that makes us a much stronger person.

I agree with you that it is a wonderful thing to have a family. I don't think that I would be the person that I am today without my family. By that I don't just mean my husband and my children, I also mean my mother, siblings and nieces as well. I am thankful for them all.

I agree, it is not just your partner and your kids, but your siblings, your parents, nephews nieces, etc. I am more like a woman when it comes to feelings and things like that, im soft but i like this, i was brought up by my mum and 2 older sisters so i had no male role model but it was good anyway as i love being in touch with my feminine side and i am a loving caring person, it has made me who i am today so i am thankful to other members of my family for that.

I am thankful for the outcomes of several family things that have happened throughout the past six months. My daughter and her illness,my grandson's start at school, my ongoing illness. My granddaughter met and married her soulmate. I made some decisions that were along time coming. So I am thankful that all these things turned out alright and that we have a roof over our head(I wrote a post about this as well as the others). GLad all that is behind me and that we are all reasonably happy. Happy Thanksgiving.

There have been plenty of times this year that I thought that we were in over our heads as far as it went with our having our own house. However, by some miracle, we've been able to make it through and because of that, I feel like there are a lot of things that I have to be thankful for.

I am most thankful for having the chance to have our kids together and all the grandkids here this year for Thanksgiving. It's been fun and interesting. I particularly say fun since none of them are staying here...lol One of our daughter's has a huge house so they are staying at her house with her family.

How wonderful that you were able to have your entire family together for the holiday. I wish that we were able to do that again with my father's side of the family like we used to do when I was a child, but the difference now is that all of my cousins are spread far and wide and I don't really know how possible that would ever be.

Hi dorannmwin! Bottom line, I am thankful for all that we have in the present. We don't have a lot of money or "things", but we certainly have our health and each other . . . I really cannot complain. My hubby has gotten into one of his depression modes again . . . he's down on the fact that we don't have our own home, big retirement plans, etc etc . . . but I keep telling him we're lucky to have what we have as it is . . . and we just keep on working on it is all. I haven't been on myLot as often - so sorry if I'm missing some of your discussions! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!!

It's okay that you haven't been here as often. For me it has been quite the same way, we've really had a strange couple of months in our house. I am hoping, however, that it is about time for things to start to calm down just in time for the Christmas rush.

I'm happy that you were able to get through the trials of this year. I myself can say that this year has been the most struggling year of my life. However, I'm thankful that amidst that I'm still here, very alive and still kicking. I won't count all my sorrows for they will just make me more sorrowful. But I'm looking at the brighter side which is having able to overcome the challenges of this year. I'm thankful for my dearest family whose love and support is never failing. They are just the truest person who accept me whoever I am at whatever mood I am. I simply love them and could never exchange them for the world.

I agree with you that this might well have been the most trying year of my life. However, I've been able to get through it and for that I am very thankful. Also, being that I am ever the optimist, I also know that the next year is going to be better for us.

Same as you, mine would be for getting through it all. There was massive lay off at work this year (in fact there are more coming), and I always did not know where to get the resources to make ends meet. But at the end of the day, we're still here surviving. For that, I'm thankful.

Me too. I know that there have times that I didn't know how the bills would be paid and I knew that I couldn't turn to my mother for help because she doesn't have a lot and she has been helping out my sister that was laid off of work back in September. However, we are able to look at all the possibilities and figure out a way to get through it all.

i agree with you... thanksgiving is a great time for reflections... there are so many things i can be thankful about to God this year... even though i lose my job that i had been doing for the past 6 years this year, but i believe that God will give another much better one for me soon... and like you say, God and the support from my family and church friends are the ones that keep me going... take care and have a nice day...

It is very important that all of us keep our faith when we are going through difficult times in our lives. I will be thinking of you as you continue to look for a better job than the one that you've lost.

Happy Thanksgiving dorannmwin we had a lovely early Thanksgivng lunchtoday with turkey and dressing and yams, green beans and pumpkin pie. and we were entertained by two people singing allour favorite oldies but goodies.Yes I had the blues thinking back onver the Thanksgivings when my son and I shared our feasts in o ur own apartment and back to when my hubby was alive and our little daughter. but again I am so much better off than a lot of the residents here and crying over the wicked economy and my sons joblessness is stupid as being happy and giving thanks for havin my son and my best friend, for being alive to enjoy the wonderful world we live in then greatfulness sets in and I feel better again. we lost our little daughter manyyears back on Thanksgiving day so it has a haunting quality at times but I will always thank God we had her for 8 precious years, a pretty little girl who loved everyone and was loved by us and all who met her. sometimes special children can teach you so much, she gave love all the time, and was such a happy child, while she would have remained childlike all her life as she was brain damaged that did not bother us as she gave us so much. She taught us pure love unconditional, not qualified as so many of us do. and fairness too. we were better people for having had our little sweetheart.

My husband. No matter what, he is a constant. I'm just glad for him no matter what because I see so many relationships around me that are just... broken, backwards, unequal, what have you. My daughter. She is the light in my life! Everything is better just because of her... when when she's a pill. I think of how it would be if she just weren't here to be a pill... what a rotten sobering thought.

That is a very sobering thought indeed, but I know what you are thinking when you have thoughts like that. That said, I think it is wonderful that there are so many people in this world that have wonderful children that they are so thankful for.

Definitely my children and friends and my Mylot friends too. Called one Mylot friend last week from my Island and I was in tears. She listened so patiently to me. I so appreciated that. We do not celebrate Thanksgiving in my home but we celebrate the abolition of slavery and our independence from the U.K. in 1962. Also our National Heroes Day. Family always comes first in my book. So I wish you peace, joy and happiness to you and all US citizens of Mylot and their families. May God bless you, your country and keep you safe

That is so cool that you were able to call and talk to one of your mylot friends. I have some people that I've talked to on here quite a bit that I really enjoy talking to, but I've yet to make the step of exchanging email or phone numbers with anyone.

We do not celebrate Thanksgiving here but I have some things to be thankful for anyway so I will answer your question I am thankful that I got through pregnancy with a breeze and that now we have a healthy baby girl. I am thankful that I have a wonderful family and that although we our finances are really rocky, we are getting by and surviving. I have always been curious about your thanksgiving holiday and would want to experience it someday. Happy Thanksgiving!

Congratulations on your new, healthy baby girl. I know how wonderful it is to get through a pregnancy and have a wonderful new baby to share with the world. In addition to that, I also know what you mean with your finances being rocky but still being able to get through and survive. It seems that we really have a lot in common.

I am thankful for my wonderful husband, my family and the fact that I am in graduate school. Things have been rough for my husband and I as well. We are trying to get things back in order and are hoping that the economy will get better soon. It has been hard with me not working this year and my husband only working parttime. On Tuesday we had a slight scare. We had a blizzard in Idaho and my husband and I were stuck in the house. We could not go anywhere. My husband called his boss and told him that we were stuck and that he could not come in the afternoon. The police came to everyone's door and told us to please stay at home because the roads were bad. My husband's boss was reluctant to give him the afternoon off. Luckily the blizzard only lasted one day and now we just have to get through the cold weather. Later on today I will be cleaning house and getting things ready to decorate my house for Christmas. My husband and I managed to save money so we are going to fly to see my family for Christmas (the first time in almost three years).

That is awesome that you and your husband are going to be able to go visit your family for Christmas. I would love to be able to go somewhere, anywhere away from home but right now that just isn't a possiblity for us. I'm hoping that next year I will be able to save most every dime that I make online so that traveling for a vacation for the first time in four years might be a possibility.

Dorann, your post had remined me to be a thankful person no matter what happen in our life. When I look back there are just so many tough times that I have to go through. But thank God I made it and still alive. I should be thankful for that. I have just received a news about one of my clasmate in school. He just went home with the Lord few days ago.He was just 49 years old and leave his spouse and three children on earth. It was quite sad to hear that but we jsut have no control of what would happen in our life when life is over.We came on this earth empty handed and we can take nothing with us by the time we leave this world. wHEN i look at myself , I thank God for all the things I have. I still have my family, food to eat, and most of all that I am still alive.Although we msy face some tough time in the past , but all these experiences will surely teach a person to grow. I also thank God that there were friends who had shown their concern and caring during my rough time so that I don't have to face the rough time all by myself. It is surely a grace and I think God deserve all the glory. Frankly speaking, I am not crazy about the turkey during thanks giving dinner because the turkey meat is so rough. But it reminded me a time of family gathering and a time to give thanks to God .A time like this is essential to people who are jsut so busy at all times and m=]never has a time for their family . At the same time, we surely need a special occasion like this to thank God for His grace throughout the year. Well, it also remind me another thing : Christmas is coming and it is almost the end of 2010. Time really goes by fast and we don'd just need to do some review about 2010 and need to start to paln for the year of 2011.Have a nice day and may God bless you and your family.

We don't celebrate thanksgiving in my country but we do have a sort of thanksgiving by the end of the year or during Christmas eve. I have a lot to thank for this year and that includes my family, my job, great financial status, and a good health! I wish that by the year end, I would be thankful of having a new baby in the family!

I am also very thankful for my husband and children. I am also thankful for a few good friends that I have.I am taking this year to be thankful for many things that I am glad that we have accomplished this year. We all should be thankful for the family we have as a dear friend just lost her mother-in-law yesterday so she will be sad this year.

I did lose a very close friend of mine very early this year and the fact that the last time that I talked to her was on Thanksgiving of this year made Thanksgiving a difficult day for me. However, I also felt like I had a lot of things to be thankful for this year.

This Thanksgiving is a truly special one for me as it always has been just my children and me. Although I have been living with my boyfriend now for almost 5 years, this is the year that he truly has stepped up and totally proven to me that I am not alone. So I am grateful to my boyfriend and my two children for being there for me this year. I have been having one hell of a year and they have re-assured me that I cannot change who I am. They have patiently stood by me the entire year when every one has completely forgotten me. So the I thank God above for making sure that I am loved.

There are so many blessings that I am thankful for. For one thing, I have a family that is always there for me. I know that no matter what happens I'll always have someone who will accept me and love me. I'm also thankful for having a lovely, warm home to live in and a bed to sleep on. There have been times in the past when our family couldn't afford very much and I use to have to make a bed on the floor out of my clean laundry wrapped up in a bed sheet. But even then I knew to be thankful. I at least had that much and a blanket to keep me warm enough. But over the past few years it seems like things keep getting better and better for me. So I'm actually thankful that I've had those kind of experiences to help keep me from taking all that I have for granted. Truly, there are far too many things for me to list here and I know how lucky I am to have all of these blessings. But the thing I think I'm most thankful for is the knowledge that each day has the potential to bring even more blessings and wonderful experiences my way. I am so lucky and so blessed.

It does seem like you are a very lucky person. I also agree with you that the experiences that we have had in our past are the experiences that make us appreciate what we are able to have later in our lives.
